This has been going on for a couple of weeks. No Covers threads about it? Another F up in a long line of F ups with this Administration! Peter Boy says to just light the chemicals on fire, that will resolve thing!! Except he can’t fill potholes never mind understand chemistry!

Cincinnati, located 200+ miles away just stopped river water from entering their drinking water. Understand that statement Cover’s Xiden loving lapdogs!

The EPA says the East Palestine wells are safe! Except they forget to tell you the train company paid for the testing! This is the same EPA that said to NYers that the air was great the day after 9/11! 
From a friend of mine who runs the MWRA….there is NO TEST AVAILABLE to detect vinyl chloride in H2O!

I say the residents of East Palestine need to collect the water from the rivers and streams and send it to DC. Make sure to put some empty bottles with holes in them so they have to investigate where that radioactive water is! Also, put a label on the bottles ‘compliments from East Palestine’! When you see DC in a panic then you’ll know the dire situation in Ohio and the surrounding area! 10’s of MILlIONS of people at risk here. You and me too! Doesn’t matter where you live! Water grows the plant, plant eaten by human or animal, human eats the plant or animal, either way you ingest vinyl chloride!

The Lyin’ Xiden Administration says they are for a green environment until they are not! And let’s not forget them blowing up a pipeline killing all those sea animals!

To those who go to the Encore Boston Harbor…..did you know they wanted to put a daycare on the basement level? The state said NO it had to be on the 7th floor or higher! The Mystic River was contaminated by Monsanto & Avco for over a decade. If you know anyone over 60 from that area….there is a very good chance they have cancer.

Previous thread has been moved to covers penalty box.  Local, state and federal governments have been working together to hold Norfolk southern accountable for train derailment.  An evacuation order was in place early because of the dangerous situation.  Senior leaders waited before visiting to allow emergency teams to respond first.  To prevent explosion, state and railroad officials decided on controlled burn of chemicals.  Environmental protection agency determined that air and water qualities are safe enough for lifting of evacuation order.  National transportation safety board found cause of accident to be a failed wheel bearing on one train.  Health department and Center for disease control are assessing effects of any chemical exposure.  After investigation, transportation department to seek safety improvements and ensure Norfolk southern pay for all costs.

Lot of unanswered questions here. Responders were worried of tank car explosions and were able to safely empty tank cars contents on the ground and burn them yet could not safely extract them, contain and move them?? Seems odd. Polutant is same as Camp Lajune that we see lawyers on tv talking about daily.

EPA declares area safe after they perform no testing themselves, that's reassuring.

The "rainbow colored creeks" when disturbing the water. Be careful here folks as I have seen swampy areas produced those oily colors from plant decay. Most likely anerobic conditions cause it. Don't jump to conclusions when you see this condition but I would be very leary until testing proves otherwise.

A gas chromatography mass spectrometry test would show whats in the soil and water. Expensive. IMO, the EPA should have already performed these tests. They have not. 

Donald Trump announced he is visiting East Palestine on Wednesday. Hours later the Biden Admin announces FEMA will now visit too, two weeks after the disaster. 

The very same federal agency and current admin that brought back over restrictive, complicated, ambiguous waterway rules in name of pollution prevention are the same who ignore a toxic mushroom cloud over rural America. The same who blew up Nordstream and spewed tons of methane into our atmosphere and believe gas stoves should be banned. The same who across the nation want gas powered lawn mowers and chainsaws banned welcome UCLA and USC to the Big10 creating huge amounts of air travel for every concievable college sport teams. 

And, the very same federal agency and current admin that brought back over restrictive, complicated, ambiguous waterway rules in name of pollution prevention blames Trump for railroad derailment yet had two years to implement changes if they thought it was really needed. 

US transportation department is handcuffed by congress legislation (2015 FAST act) from restoring or expanding Obama safer brakes rule repealed by Trump.  Obama attempted to prevent dangerous derailments by requiring better brakes.  But this effort has been weakened by rail industry lobbying and industry friendly republicans.  Now MAGA GOP wants to cut spending on disaster relief. 

Democrats had control of congress the last two years. They prioritized their time with witch hunts on prime time tv and now point fingers at republicans who will return the favor in kind. They had all the power and time to slap heavy handed safety rules on the rail industry. And I am not sure if more expensive electronic brakes would prevent this derailment or others. And everybody has an "expert" in their hip pocket to say one way or the other. 

And I dont expect the government to "hand out checks" when a private entity is to blame for a disaster, rather I expect the govt to assure the people affected get the proper help needed when they need it. If they cannot afford evacuation than help them now and govt get rembursed from the company liable later. Assure area is safe by government run testing with transparency on the results. Just properly oversee, not say railroad contractor testing says everthing ok now. 

So are rail companies government entities or are they private and public companies? I seem to recall that a very large multi national conglomerate with strong lobby groups owns one of the larger rail companies?

Corps hide and avoid regulation and restriction because it impacts revenues and profits, only events like these bring the government to the industry and FORCE regulation and restriction. Some political parties and many individuals think the government should not be involved in corporate activities and that regulation holds back the free markets. In reality the government does not do enough to check and balance the cheating profit driven corporations who will do anything they can to avoid cost and maximize profits.

So free market dopes cannot blame the government for the actions of private corporations, nor can politicians really regulate safety or anything that corps do because lobbyists financially influence politicians and the ability of corps to be far ahead of regulation is something we will never be able to contain.

Go figure! Our most popular president in the history of the United States (can you imagine joe biden crossing the Delaware?) is in Ukraine while the winner of the 2020 election visits East Palestine! You just can not make this stuff up! btw  There is only an estimated 1M hard working Americans poisoned by the spill!

Why are you mad at Biden when the railroad is not a government entity? Go picket the corporation that owns the rail in question and find out why THEY messed up, not pick your nose and flick it at Biden as usual.

I am not mad at Joe Biden. There is not 1 bit of anger towards joe Biden in my post. Simply pointing out our defeated Republican nominee for President named Donald John Trump is visiting East Palestine, not the most popular President in the very long history of the United States! If he had any moral character in that body he would take action without needing to be seen doing so and not begging for acknowledgement and attention. Nothing worse than doing something under fake pretenses to get attention.

It’s important to know that in order to trigger FEMA aid, local officials like Republican Gov. Mike DeWine needs to issue a disaster declaration. He did that on Friday. A day later, FEMA agreed to send a team. 
DeWine says he didn’t declare a disaster earlier because he didn’t think this situation qualified for it, because FEMA aid typically only applies when there’s a ton of property damage. Unlike a hurricane, this incident didn’t damage properties. 

If you want to blame politicians, Ohio is a Republican state with mostly Republican officials. While I wouldn’t have been too keen on allowing homes to be built so close to train tracks with heavy industrial chemicals, that’s more of a local planning and zoning decision.

Imho, this crash is not the fault of any politicians. They didn’t crash this train. 

Of course you already knew that, but Team Red fanboys are following the mantra of Newt Gingrich’s axiom to “Never let a good disaster go to waste.”

Hopefully the senile former guy will remember which town he is in this time … unlike when he was in California.

As the citizens of East Palestine are watching their lives being dramatically shortened by the poisons in the air. joe biden visits Ukraine while 

jill begins a trip to Africa. Her first stop is a country that very few Americans have heard of. That country is Namibia!

Donald Trump will fill in the huge vacuum created by the inactions of joe, Jill and Little Pete. President Trump will visit East Palestine today.

DJT and his greased up flip do will be there to make a speech about how the election was stolen and how Biden and the liberals are the cause, you can watch his crying and wandering on NUMEROUS speeches because that is all he does...self absorbed little ego attention antics when a REAL president would sympathize and listen and care what people feel and think...Obama would go and LISTEN to people, not stand with his entourage and hundreds of cameras to steal the media opportunity to forward himself.

Biden is a dope but Trump is a total scuz he is not a leader or an inspiring person with high character he is a schemer and a low quality thug.

Why are some of you focused on what a PUBLIC corporation did blame the government for somehow not excessively regulating a free markets railroad? You want the government OUT of the economy unless there is some catastrophe then you can blame the government but it goes both ways.

Watch the show Clarkson's Farm and see what REAL regulation is, the only fault in this situation is that of the railroad company who overworked the rail and ran a very unsafe route, the workers knew it and when workers have names for a route and the conditions of the machinery it is only a matter of time before people get harmed and the government is FORCED to step in but it should have never been an issue in the first place.

By scheduling a political stunt in Ohio, Trump brings attention to his awful record on rail safety and hazardous chemicals.  He eliminated Obama's regulations requiring regular safety audits, minimum number of employees and faster brakes on trains carrying flammable materials,   His administration reduced Environmental protection agency budget for investigations and prosecutions of environmental crimes.

It was the response that tells all. Yes, many derailments every year. But one where 1.1 million pounds of vinyl chloride has to be burned?? Huge black cloud?? Meanwhile our transportation leader is off whining about white construction workers on projects in minority areas. Folks are told all clear, go home. And this "I would drink the water" bullshit. It will take months for that substance to reach the groundwater table if it does. 

Just throughly test the fucking site and surrounding areas! Post the results. And make sure it is removed and the area safe. I know, too much to ask!

The head of the National Transportation Safety Board shared an earnest plea with the public about sharing misinformation about the Ohio train derailment.

NTSB Chairwoman Jennifer Homendy told the public in a series of tweets on Thursday that the board was doing everything in its power to figure out what went wrong in East Palestine, Ohio, and how to avoid any future derailments.

 However, Homendy pointed out that regardless of whether the rule was in effect or not, the train traveling through East Palestine that derailed on Feb. 3 wouldn't have had the brakes.

 You have to be a bit out of touch if you even have a second of thought that the government is EVER in front of the actions of a public corporation, that has never been the case and for sure is not. Public companies are profit driven and motivated to find ways to cut corners and juice profits. When did I say Biden is a great president?  The wall was a vote grab scheme which was never going to happen, nor was his big mouth saying Mexico would pay for it. We went the rounds back then about this and the pure cost and time to make a real wall is impossible...then there is the observation of said wall and I seem to remember your side LAUGHINGLY say that the National Guard can patrol this wall which spans for THOUSANDS of miles, yes the National Guard is skilled to video monitor it and within MINUTES have people in position to stop those getting under and over the wall...what a sucker trap this was, but hey he is a MAN so I guess it worked on you. Wallstreetcapper is right.  Long history of rail industry lobbying and industry friendly republicans have weakened regulations.  Instead of all trains, only those carrying flammable materials require safer brakes.  If most trains carry mixed freight, safety brakes aren't required despite other types of hazardous cargo.  So mixed freight trains are the norm as railway companies exploit loopholes to reduce costs and maximize profits at the expense of communities in derailment disasters.
