Father Debunks Critical Race Theory In Incredible Speech: ‘How Am I Oppressed With Two Degrees?’

During a full district school board meeting, a father from Illinois who broadcasts a weekend radio show slammed critical race theory. Ty Smith, a father who argues critical race theory is seriously flawed, blasted schools for teaching the divisive philosophy that has enraged and infuriated parents throughout the country. According to Faithwire, Smith, a black man, started his address by remembering a childhood incident in which he and other children on public assistance were pushed to be the last to eat lunch in elementary school. He got very upset as a third-grader with his buddies  not in his group and decided to stop speaking to them. He learned as an adult that they were not to blame for their segregation.

“I’m mad at them for something that wasn’t even their fault… they weren’t looking down on me. They didn’t think they were better than me,” Smith argued.

“I’m the one that came up with those false perceptions of what my friends were. Not them,” Smith added.

He then went on to debunk the critical race theory ideas that white people have it better in life because they are white and that black people are oppressed because of white people, using his own personal experience as evidence that neither of these claims were accurate. “How do I have two medical degrees if I’m sitting here oppressed?” Smith’s question drew applause from the other parents and guests at the packed gathering.

“No mom, no dad in the house. Worked my way through college, sat there and hustled my butt off to get through college,” Smith continued. Smith slammed the argument that white people “kept him from” achieving his goals. He said, “Not one white person ever came to me and said ‘well, son, you know you’ll never be able to get anywhere because the black people.'” The Illinois parent stressed how today’s black youth are taught that they will not be successful because “the white man is going to keep you down.”

A coalition of six dozen educational groups denounces states banning teaching of racial inequality and injustice.  American historical association, American federation of teachers, American association of university professors and Association of colleges.  State bans are unconstitutional and violate free speech.

Purpose of teaching critical race theory is to understand complete history.  Not to teach Americans to hate each other.  Society can only do better by acknowledging where improvements are needed.  Teaching truth doesn't create discrimination but instead fights it.  Masking fear of confronting the truth only teach students that they can cherry pick data, falsify evidence and fabricate reality. 

Why do some  people have an issue with CRT ?? It's been taught in many school districts and law schools since the 1980's ..

It's funny how uncomfortable Republicans get about talking about race. That says it all in my eyes. 

Removing any discussion of race, discrimination, and injustice throughout American history sounds like such an enlightening plan in the Republican educational system. 

It's like they don't understand that discussing racism and discrimination historically should make everyone uncomfortable.

I talk about race all the time because I’ve spent so much time looking into these arguments. 

I have found that people on the left are usually incapable of talking about it if their beliefs are challenged. 

They can never answer questions like “why have Asians thrived in this system” or “why do first generation Nigerians outperform black Americans by so much?”. 

In DC, 5% of whites are in poverty while 23.5% of black people are in poverty. This is one of the biggest gaps in the nation. All of the local politicians are Democrats and the population is 80% democrat. Far left Oregon has a 17 point gap. Ultra liberal Vermont has a 26 point gap. Kentucky has an 8 point gap. Texas has an 8 point gap.  Nebraska only has a 6 point gap. Is this proof that Democrats are racist?

Many African states were dependent on the international slave trade. 

Slavery shows how cruel people with power can become. THAT should be the lesson.

You clearly don't know your history. You think American born Asians have faced the same type of racist, predatory policies as African-Americans? and Nigerians? Asian born do face racism and have faced discriminatory policies, but not like Blacks.  Man you need to revisit history. It's obvious you don't have a clue. 

Look up Jim Crow, red-lining, prredatory lending practices, housing segregation, the war on drugs, cocaine versus crack drug sentencing guidelines, charter schools. 

Much of the disparities are due to inability for Black communities to acquire wealth through home ownership. Unfortunately, this stems from redlining practices, which still carry lingering effects from decades ago. Local property taxes fund schools. Perhaps you can put 2 +2 together? 

You think these policies targeted Asian-Americans and Nigerians???

New federal holiday Juneteenth marks the end of enslavement on June 19, 1865.  Hypocritical to honor Juneteenth while condemning teaching of critical race theory.  Banning CRT from schools whitewash systemic racism role in US history.  Also laws that make voting harder discriminate against minorities.

Myth is that Asian Americans are proof that hard work and education lead to success despite skin color.  The real secret to their success isn't solely due to superior education.  According to Brown university study, dismantling of discriminatory institutions and softening of racist prejudices allow Asian Americans to finally find better opportunities.  Equal pay for equal skill or work.  Now that discrimination is lessened, the Asian edge in education is apparent.  But census statistics show minorities still working harder to earn less.  Among the highly educated, white men earn more than Asian men.

You comparing centuries of oppression and systematic racism to the plight of asian Americans or Nigerians is beyond pathetic...

There is no point in discussing race in America with an abject moron .
