Well there’s a difference between reading an alternative viewpoint (that is still legit, just opposite-biased) and reading total garbage.

Even as recently as ten years ago, Fox News still had some legit stuff to offer. Not anymore.

For years, Fox news has less distrusted than other media sources such as ABC, NPR, Associated press, CBS and others.  Mixing fake news with real news.  Promoting Russian propaganda, unverified contents in Hunter laptop and lab leak theory despite no scientific evidence.

Ok. @third person I agree that fox news is not always correct or at times some features are completely fabrications and clearly distorted of actually the facts exaggerated or bias.

However at what point do we become this is not state media ? In other words should a media outlet , radio talk show personality , or newspapers , magazines be regulated by the government and not allowed to air content due to censorship? 

We don't allow someone screaming bomb on a plane or fire in a movie theater that is not the truth due to terrorism of passengers . We don't allow nudity on the airwaves due to underage viewers . I understand this argument  .

But I don't believe that a media outlet should be sanctioned for fabricating content because someone's feelings may be hurt or someone finds content to be in accurate .

Case in point would be Bengazi embassy event. Officially the white house press briefing was this was an event caused by a trailer (short preview ) of a film that was insenitive to muslim's views 

 Reality this was a state departments failure to secure an ambassador after many warnings were sent at the clear lack of security in a off embassy facility in a hostile and lawless area of a third world country that had nothing to do with the clip or the egyptian coptic church.

Should the media outlets be fined or sanctioned for spreading false information?  Should they be liable for defamation of The church in question?

Because this lays the ground work for then state sponsored and sanctioned propaganda is allowed where non state approved is liable for penalties , law suits , fines. 

Fox news is fake news ok. This can be debated. But we are talking about an entertainment industry .

Can we then say Saturday night live's weekend report be then sanctioned for not reporting the "news" accurately?

Well, only a total moron would think that Trump didn’t do his best to lick and shine Putin’s sweaty sack. After all, it’s not like:

- Paul Manafort didn’t take gazillions of Russian money for no reason 

- Trump didn’t crap on all American intelligence agencies to believe Putin on a whim

- Trump gave Lavrov the names of two Mossad agents in the Oval Office early on, this dissuading Israel from ever taking Drumpf seriously 

- Trump still failing to disclose his subpar development plans in Moscow

I agree, why did Trump intentionally destroy all of our foreign intelligence apparatuses just in time for Covid 19 and a Russian invasion?

I try to read as many sources as I can. And I make it a point to read or watch opposing views. I take ALL news personalities with a grain of salt. Sometimes I even have to eyeroll CNN or MSNBC. But Fox....OMFG! It's an imitation of news that is so blatant in misleading people, and so far from respectable journalism, that it boggles the mind that anyone can take them seriously. The problem is they are entertainment news for a large targeted audience. And Rupert Murdoch knows that Americans love spectacle. And fear sells. Facts are of little significance. We all know that most news is bad. But Fox is terrifyingly bad.
