 Not just Biden.  She is attacking Sanders for questioning if the Democrats 'abandoned the working class'.  I think she realizes her legacy is tarnished by what an awful job she did propping up Biden and then 'forcing' Harris onto the folks without a primary and then still contending that there was a primary.

She is awful and always has been.  I always say old age enhances your good and bad traits.  Her vile and vicious attitude is now amplified.

"With all due respect, and I have a great deal of respect for him [Sanders], for what he stands for, but I don't respect him saying that the Democratic Party has abandoned the working class families. That's where we are," Pelosi told The New York Times' "The Interview" podcast on Saturday.

She continued, "Under President Biden, you see the rescue package, money in the pockets of people, the shots in the arm, children in school safely, working people back to work. What did Trump do when he was president? One bill that gave a tax cut to the richest people in America."

Pelosi's remarks came days after Sanders posted on X that Democrats' loss should "come as no great surprise" after working class voters – first the White working class and then the Latino and Black working classes — looked elsewhere for change.

"While the Democratic leadership defends the status quo, the American people are angry and want change, and they're right," he posted in part.

This is her retort to that:

Pelosi chalked up the loss to "cultural issues" when asked why voters earning under $100K voted for Trump in such large numbers.

"There are cultural issues involved in elections as well. Guns, God and gays – that's the way they say it."

I keep asking the same question. Who keeps voting for her? I spend half my time in SF and maintain somewhat of a second residence but i've never registered to vote there. When I ask my friends why they keep electing her, they clam up. I don't force the issue because i'm not a party pooper. Nobody acts as if they like her though. Yet she keeps getting re-elected.

So hard to get an entrenched incumbent out also.

But whenever I am back there -- I just look around and I can tell who they are.

Even Axlerod pointed this out in his critique:

David Axelrod, a former senior adviser to Barack Obama during his presidency, on Thursday said Democrats have “become a smarty-pants, suburban, college-educated party” ? and that led to Kamala Harris’ defeat in the White House race.

“I do have concerns about the way the Democratic Party relates to working-class voters in this country,” Axelrod told broadcaster Anderson Cooper on CNN. “The only group that Democrats gained with in the election on Tuesday was white college graduates. And among working-class voters, there was a significant decline.”

He continued to hammer home a point about the more affluent income bracket that Harris appealed to.

“The only group ... Democrats won among were people who make more than $100,000 a year,” Axelrod said. “You can’t win national elections that way, and it certainly shouldn’t be that way for a party that fashions itself as the party of working people.”

The is the thing though. It's not even that expect them to vote her out. It's that she should just retire. She's serves her constituency just fine but nationally, she's extremely polarizing. It's like MTG on the otherside, when a politician is so polarizing, it prevents bipartisan success,  and national unity.

It is funny how you right wing guys see this compared to how I see it. I think the DNC as a party has not changed their approach or their appeal, Harris was not an extremist and was welcoming and open to every demographic so to try and spin that it is something inside the DNC is without merit and odd to be honest.

To me the sole reason why the "working class" shifted their vote is because the mass mass mass majority of citizens and especially those who feel they are struggling fail to understand our economy and what drives prices and what drives inflation. People spend a few minutes a day listening to some media source and the media has fed that Biden is responsible for inflation and Harris is responsible for inflation, that gas prices are due to Biden and Harris (even though for the last six plus months gas prices are under price trend and lower than period of the Trump regime) so people are lazy blame oriented drones that want to point a finger at one person or one party as to why they feel that inflation happened. 

The US is not a single source economy, we are a capitalist economy with no borders, inflation has been going on in all countries and places like India it has been ravaging for decades, inflation has nothing to do with a single person or party especially since congress who passes legislation is gridlocked and there has not been any source of inflation you can pin on any party. Government debt based spending has been on a straight ramp higher since Clinton and that includes GOP and DNC POTUS it includes GOP controlled congresses and DNC controlled congresses and locked congresses, this is nothing new and yet like freaking magic this Covid deficit spending increase ramped inflation in a years time when it has not existed to this magnitude since the 1970s...uhh huh yeah that makes great sense, well it makes no sense.

People want to float here and there voting on whatever the current media fed narrative is of the day so this cycle it was those nasty Hatians, that lie and inflation from Biden which is another lie, the border which is a regular punching bag and the drug crisis...the drug crisis has been going on my entire life, the shift is from drug to drug, nothing has changed we are just into a certain drug now when before it was something else...we blame politicians for drug problems when the issue has never been resolved and will never be resolve as the USERS are out of control and unable to stop the demand for the drugs...but lets blame Biden and those mystical illegals for the current drug crisis when white doods manufacture and distribute drugs not just those faceless illegals.

Finally one of the largest culprits for our situation financially is the way the FED ramped rates into Biden's term, that has not happened since Volcker did it and Trump his entire fascist term had ZIRP, that benefitted hiding government spending impacts, it made corporations able to accumulate massive supply stockpiles and pay pretty much ZERO for doing so, the real reason for inflation was the destruction of supplies, the still ongoing supply chain and corporate greed, not Biden or Trump or Harris.

Yes.  But she has been able to get things done whether you agree with what those things are or not.  But, I have never been one that thinks folks should be 'forced' to retire.  Except boxers and NHL, NFL, etc. -- when it is obvious it is a danger to them.  But if someone has their wits about them and their constituents want to keep voting them in -- I really have no problem with that.  

Even if the job can be stressful and all-consuming a lot of people simply like to do what they do and NOT retire.  That is why you see so many people that are just driven to keep doing what they do in life.  Whether it is a real estate developer that keeps at it, a small business owner that keeps at it, or even a CPA that retires but works at H&R during tax season.  There are some people that stay driven and love to have a sense of purpose.  

I think this is the same with some politicians that stay in until they die.  It is not about money -- they have plenty and have the connections to make even more out of office.  It is not acclaim -- they can go to a board or lobbyist or TV and get that.  It is not just to have something to do -- they could find other things to do.

It is JUST because some people LIKE to do what they do and think they are 'meant' to do.  They never have plans to 'retire'.

Then if you feel you are doing some good it also helps.

No matter what, she has been very successful.  I do not agree with her views -- but her voters do.

It is not even that she has to worry about a Republican winning her seat -- there is no chance of that.  She just likes what she does. 

I cannot knock her for that.  Quite a few politicians have been this way.  The same with a lot of professions.

 You may see the DNC as not changing their views.  But everyone that has come out has been saying they have.  

For sure, Harris was extremist.  That was why she was seen as the most Far-Left Senator, even more than Sanders.

If the DNC really felt they were not explaining the economy well enough to the voters, they should have tried harder.  They knew that was the biggest concern of the voters.  Instead they stuck too much to the polarizing agendas.

There was no reason to do that.  These guys were going to vote for them no matter what.

They needed to energize the other voters that cared more about their pocketbook and border security.  More focus from Harris about how she really had flipped from being so extreme beforehand should have been done.  She should have done this and distanced herself from Biden early on.

They simply did not think it was needed.  The average citizen did not think she cared -- and it showed they were correct.

People did not really vote for media narratives.  They still voted for the same 2-3 issues they were always going to vote on.

There were a LOT of good numbers in the economy the DNC should have been emphasizing -- they did not.  

There were a LOT of things Harris could have done and said about the border -- she did not.

The voters seemed to think they were taken for granted -- and, they were.

As I have said repeatedly, the folks only see who is in office when things go from good to bad.

While Congress may have been gridlocked somewhat -- they were 'united' enough to pass legislation that put the money out there, under Trump and Biden.

Harris was always going to get the agenda-driven voters and they were always energized to get out and vote.

She never tried to reach the much larger voter-blocs that had real and deeper concerns.

 She absolutely gets things done. As I said above, she s serves her constituency, her district well. However, she is an extremely polarizing figure. And we need less polarization in this country.

But has shown the ability to get enough of a coalition to untie her party.  She also has shown the ability to get things done with the opposition.

There are more polarizing figures that cannot even unit members in their own party to get things done.

She is a long-serving and famous member, so seems more polarizing than she is -- maybe.

I agree we need less polarization.  But too many on both sides are not going to bend, for fear of being seen as betraying their party.

The problem is more than issues themselves than the politicians.  A lot of the issues are by nature polarizing.  So, very little room to compromise or unite.

Everytime I see posts like this i think back to poster Nature1970. March 26, 2021 he posted this; Drugs? Mexican sour ed fentynl methaphatimes and coke is better cheaper and easier to obtain. Under Trump a gram of coke hard up here was 100 now 50 a g. Under Biden it went back to 10 a point.

My comment was drugs still exist they have always existed we have moved from one drug set to another and we are currently dealing with the one type while in the past there have been others and you listed a few and my comment was that illegals get blamed in this current environment when ALL race/location groups are in the drug trade. So what was your reply about pricing now vs Trump? I was not saying drugs are cheaper or more or less available now vs Trump, I am saying the drug crisis has always existed and that white folk like many here are also in the drug trade...yet the TNC tried to correlate that it is all due to the border issues. Have any of you not seen Narcos or Narcos Mexico series?

You do realize that why you may have a difference in opinion, it is still just that. Your opinion. Whether their approach has changed notwithstanding, appeal is subjective. And one has to acknowledge the possible loss of appeal, based on drop in support amongst key, traditionally liberal demographics.

I think this paragraph encapsulates much of the disconnect with the Democratic party. I think the party has come to be viewed as pretentious, elitist, condescending bourgeoisie. While true, most Americans don't fully understand our very multifaceted economy, to say that they(we) are all lazy, blame oriented drones is both insulting and false. Frankly, voters on both sides can be blame oriented and therefore most elections are reactionary but this is true of both sides. Biden's victory in 2020 was a blame oriented, reactionary victory.

This is my biggest issue. It again starts with the typical Democrat trope of "If you disagree with me, it's because you're incorrect, uninformed, and possibly uneducated. Do you really think conspiracy theories about Haitians moved the needle in this election. Are they the reason Trump won every swing state, and gained points in traditional Democrat strongholds, and amongst almost every traditionally "liberal" demigraphic. Your commentary about the drug crisis just demonstrates how out of touch you are with what's actually going on in the streets. Fentanyl isn't just another drug. White "doods" aren't manufacturing it. And the illegals are "mythical". Fentanyl is more addictive, more potent, and more deadly than any drug before it. More than heroin, crack cocaine, or even crystal meth. And the streets are being flooded with it. The southern border still remains the main entry point for most illicit drugs coming into America. Rednecks aren cooking up fentanyl in converted meth labs. The cartels import medical grade fentanyl and fentanyl precursors from places like China and India, and that is what is driving the devastation in many communities. The southern border is also the entry point for the cartel's foot soldiers, many of which are now coming from other Central and South American countries. The sourhern border has now also become an entry point for middle eastern terror cells and Chinese nationalist. To what level, I don't know. The border crisis, and accompanying drug crisis are not something to brush off and simply say, "Well there has always been a drug crisis."

I secured border and strict deportation laws aren't the only answer, but they are part of it. And this was a key point for many voters in traditionally Democratic demographics. It's easy to say what is really an issue from a lofty penthouse, of from the Pac Heights home of Nancy Pelosi, but to voters in some of the more densely populated and underserved community, they're tired of having "asylum seekers" forced upon them.

I, for one, do not believe illegals are being blamed for the current drug availabilty, its the wide open border with border patrol herding illegals rather than patroling. Their roles were purposely changed.

Wide open border = more drugs getting in. 

And the democrats lost the election because they were focused on one thing, their own power and not the United States. The border is not open for humanitarian reasons rather to flood Texas into a blue state. Add to that wanting to end the filibuster after using it themselves 314 times during Trump's term, wanting to add DC as a state, wanting to pack the Supreme Court in their favor. Everything they did or wanted to do was to bolster their own power. Going after Trump like a rabid dog was also their undoing.
