Cantor was instrumental in the election of many of the Tea Party-backed candidates who handed Republicans their House majority in 2010.
This is true, but over the last few years he’s gotten out of touch with his district,
and only interested in power & position, and he’s abandoned the TEA party aligned himself with
RINO’s...just like Rubio did,,

I think this is probably the worst idea. No amnesty is one thing but it's absolutely a horrible idea to create 2 different classes of "people". That's just asking for troubles....
Moreover. I don't think it will pass the Constitutional test. After all, you are asking for "Taxation without representation" for some forever unless we can get an amendment in which it's impossible imo.
As Cool Arrow stated, one can be a legal resident of the US, pay taxes, qualify for SS, but never have the right to vote. I work with a guy from Canada that is here on a work visa as a computer engineer and he cannot vote. He does pay taxes and files a tax return every year.
Stay disciplined and manage your bankroll

While your stats may be right, in the Cantor case everything I have read points to his stance on amnesty. He even panicked and sent out ads that said how he helped defeat the Senate amnesty bill.
Cantor caught Potomac Fever” and that's what did him in....in the past few years his chief constituency was the Washington lobbyists...
..and it didn't help that he decided to headline an anti-Tea Party event in Florida... sponsored in part by George Soros and
organized labor ..
More ,,many more incumbents will fall from political office in November ( R& D) ..Eric is just the start of this revolution ..the American people are sick and tired of all the government authority centralized in Washington ...and fed-up with candidates they voted into office not representing their interest when they get to Washington...

what you're saying is Cantor's was not right-wing extremist enough Tea Party wants more right wing extremism.

To tell you how out of touch Eric Cantor and his team were... Neither Cantor nor his aides seemed to have any idea he was in political danger throughout the whole day Tuesday.
GOP aides reached by phone were stunned by the news of Cantor’s defeat..

Hopefully other states/districts follow suit- I'd like to see the whole lot thrown out-R and D- It would be hard to do worse than we have right now if you randomly drew names from districts/states and sent them all to DC- Maybe a little common sense would prevail- No one would have any obligations to their "supporters"

Probably quite a few ..if they were mobalized...but therewere many more grass-roots voters who voted for the challenger Brat..This is almost as stunning as when Scott Brown won Ted Kennedy's Massachusetts Senate seat in 2010.

Those are totally different circumstances. I worked with a few with the same situation you mentioned. They either don't want to become a citizen here or if they do want to and their employers could file for them(a path) after certain years provided that they fit certain criterions. In addition, their legal status(work permits) could be renewed or revoked and if you really think of it, it's just not the same.

Naturally, people are over-reacting to Cantor's loss. Keep in mind that this was a primary, meaning a low turnout and only the most "die-hard", affectionate, based junkies would vote, the absolute best chance for a upset.

One right wing big government fascist replaced by one that is even more right wing and more facist.
Why anyone would be happy about this (beyond the far right wing fascists) is beyond me.
What this means to to those not beholdent to a political party is that the Democratic candidate won't even have to run on his platform.
Instead, he will be able to point to the statement of Brat when he says that women love rape, abortion should be outlawed even in cases of incest, that happy marriage can be cured with therapy, or that immigrant families who have lived here, worked, paid taxes, and have committed no crimes, should be shipped to the Mexican border with just the clothes on their backs.
Brat's win only makes the Republicans seem further out of touch whilst allowing the Dems to spend more money and tax us even further.
Why can't Republicans who are for less spending and less taxes don't care about social issues, and are for normal immigration reform ever win?

I would further add regarding immigration, I am not Cantor fan but I can't find any statement where he took any odd position on immigration.
He was for deporting those with violent criminal convictions.
The OP brought up amesty, but the overwhelming American population supports the idea that immigrants who have been here for some time, established a family, worked, paid taxes, and committed not crimes be allowed to stay.
Is it the suggestion that those in the Republican party are not supporting the idea that the above should be deported as well? Good luck with that in the general election.

DJ, Brat will need no help in the general election...He communicates articulately on important matters to constituents in his own district..I see you have already delved into the DEM playbook of attempting to destroy their opponent
It's about time some "conservatism" is reinserted into our republics "backbone" that you yourself, claim to be "awol" Surely. even you see this as the "anger" and frustration building when a 22-1 outspent candidate wins by DD's....The AMERICAN people are extremely tired of politicians of both parties deceiving them. If I am Hillary this morning, if this isn't a wake up call, I don't know what is

I'll save it for when he has to campaign on these issues.
I like this tidbet though:
"Eric Cantor has shown himself to be a liberal in Republican clothing on social issues." -David Brat
I honestly can't wait. Every moderate Republican will be distancing themselves from him ala the quotes above.

WSC, look at the funding numbers for Brat. He isn't supported by the corporations and private interests.
You missed the point. The point is shuffling people in and out wont change anything because the institution is corrupt. So while you say he is not CURRENTLY owned by the market, that does not change the status of the status quo in government. He will also be kneeling before MANY during this election. You do not run a large campaign with pocket change..and even if he gets party money that OBLIGATES him.

And....let's see who funds him before the general election.
Maybe he is the candidate that many want....less influence in politics, less taxes, cut in spendings, doesn't care about social issues.
I just haven't seen the tea party support any candidates like this. The requirements for the tea party appear to be anti-abortion, anti-happy marriage, more government intrusion.

He is NOT a Tea Party guy everybody claims him to be....he received no or very little TP funding....it was all "grass roots' but you know the mainstream media....they can't wait to label this guy a TEA Partier..... Couldn't be more farther than the truth.....he is a "true conservative" based on Republican principles....He needs to stay away from those delicate "social" issues and focus on where his expertise is....economics for free market solutions, limited govt, and 'CONSTITIONALISM" especially 10th Amendment..
