If the Repubs were treating this seriously at all (instead of just as a nuisance to be bulldozed thru), Trump would call for at least a short investigation to see what might be learned or not. And Mark Judge would deinitely be subpoenaed to testify. He is the only other 1 who was alleged to be there. But we all know that all that matters to Trump & most repubs in congress is that he's confirmed before the midterms. Wouldn't matter if he had been a serial rapist or anything else in his past.
Explain please how you "investigate" a claim made by someone from 36 years ago....Who would you talk to? Where would you even start?

The same way the FBI investigates any crime or accusation that occurred or allegedly happened many years ago. Not saying it would be fruitful, just should be done.
We could also use less of his pretending to be this angelic, perfect choirboy. That charade is weak & lame. The Renate Alumni thing was a "goodnight kiss"? Give me a break. I wonder if Kavanaugh was actually calling the shots, would he have already withdrawn by now? Don't know, but he looks like a compromised individual who has little choice but do what his "handlers" want of him. And they are desperate not to lose this shot at ramming him through. Should be interesting on Thursday...

The FBI doesn't even investigate recent sexual assaults. You want them to investigate a "cold case" from 36 years ago, where this is absolutely no physical evidence, where to present parties say it never happened and the 3rd party, the accuser, can't recollect much? What is it you think the FBI actually does? Not to mention, this wouldn't even be a criminal investigation because of the statute of limitations.

Well, they either want to get as close to the truth of what happened or not or they don't. An impartial FBI or police investigation might help with that as well as making any hearing before the judiciary committee clearer & more illuminating. Otherwise, it likely turns into just a he said, she said split down partisan lines. If Kav is totally innocent as he claims, seems an investigation that would be a good thing for him now & down the road if confirmed. Trump can ask the FBI to get involved but of course he was never going to consider it. Btw...there is no statue of limitations for felony sexual assault or attempted rape in Maryland.

You're living in a fantasy land. I'm not saying it's right, but that's just not the way criminal investigations work. Local and state law enforcement, under a district attorney, investigate prosecutable crimes. They wouldn't touch this with a 10 foot pole. They are not worried about truth, they are worried about conviction rate. And don't get me started on the FBI. Let's say the FBI is investigating a large drug ring, and in their surveillance they uncover evidence of a sexual assault, they might not even do sh*t. It could blow their case. The FBI investigates crime syndicates, serial killers, not attempted date rapes.

And people only care about this because of the political ramifications. It's not about the "victim". I don't hear this outrage over the rape kit backlog in this country.

She was asked if there should be an FBI investigation. She started to speak but after they looked at each other he answered. Ashley, his wife , was directly asked the question.
Not cool

Not sure what you're talking about? The FBI routinely does background checks & has already done 6 on Kavanaugh. This allegation was made afterwards. Are you saying that in light of this new accusation (which goes to character, integrity & suitability for a SC seat), Trump can't order the FBI to open up a short investigation in hopes of gaining more info/facts to aid in the hearing? As a special request, it would be given top priority & take no more than a few days max. Seems that would be the wisest & fairest course for all involved. In the short & long term.

Joe Biden, as the Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman during the Clarence Thomas Anita-Hill hearings...dismissed any conclusions the FBI came to in their report about the sexual harassment allegations..
"The FBI they do not ,,they do not, they do not reach conclusions' when investigating sexual misconduct,,,period."
"And the last thing I'll point out: the next person that refers to an FBI
report as being worth anything obviously doesn't understand anything.
FBI explicitly does not, in this or any other case, reach a conclusion.. Period. Period." ( sounds like someone is on their period Joe)
"So when people are waving FBI report before you, understand they do not,
they do not, they do not reach conclusions. They do not make, as my
friend points out, more [inaudible], they do not make recommendations."
You tell'em Joe...

Trump would look foolish to request the FBI get involved in a groping claim that happened 36 years ago between a 17 and 15 year old. Her case is full of holes with very little to go on. No prosecutor in their right mind would touch something like this and would probably laugh it was even presented to them.
Bottom Line..................
Dems have said they are still going to vote no regardless of what she says and Republicans have said they are voting yes regardless of what she says. Just another dog and pony show coming out of the Senate.

What do you think they would find. There is absolutely zero to investigate. All they can do is talk to Kavanaugh, talk to Judge, talk to Blasey-Ford. Two say it never happened, one says it did. Has anyone else come forward with any additional insight to this event?

Judge Brett Kavanaugh's second sexual abuse accuser, Deborah (Debbie does fake penises) Ramirez, will not testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Ramirez has a sign outside of her Boulder, Colorado home saying she will
not speak to the press. Anyone member of the press who would like more
information is encouraged to call her lawyer..
Ramirez made it very clear that she gave her story to the press and that's it..(In this case,,, .testimony or evidence given to the press and not given under oath must be disregarded in it's entirety.)

GOP senate majority leader Mitch McConnell has guaranteed a vote and will plow through the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court judge. While the poll shows, 50% voters oppose Kavanaugh and 40% would confirm him.

I understand the committee vote is not mandatory, but generally following
procedures. This would set up a full Senate vote to confirm Judge
Kavanaugh on Monday or Tuesday of next week.

Who knows what might be uncovered or how much more there would be to be included in the hearing? The better question seems to be why the rush to confirm on a lifetime appt to the SC?? What is the cost or harm to do that even if it sheds no more light on anything. Still plenty of time to vote before the midterms & either way, at least it was done & would be beneficial for both Kavanaugh going forward as well as the fairness toward Ford which she is requesting.
Btw, like your handle Stumpers. Would make a helluva song title for the likes of a Gatemouth Brown, James McMurtrey or an old Guy Clark tune. Maybe a main character in a Steve Earle song...lol.

As more women coming out to accuse Kavanaugh on sexual misconduct, it's going to get much tougher for Mitch McConnell to plow through this Kavanaugh confirmation stuff.

The third woman, Julie Swetnick, has come forward today to the accusation against Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct.
