..and let her off the hook for in effect.. endorsing Trump's opponent just before an election..

Well, if her age is a detriment to having good judgement ..maybe she should step down for the good of the country..

The Code of Conduct for U.S. judges states that a judge shall not "make speeches for a political organization or candidate, or publicly endorse or oppose a candidate for public office,"

Clearly ,,Ginsburg violated that provision and what she did is more egregious...  due to the fact that she is already on the Supreme Court...and such should avoid even the appearance of impropriety.

Since this is still being discussed, I want to bring up that Kavanaugh's drinking history and his current situation should have been investigated much more thoroughly.  It sounds like he may be an alcoholic who doesn't have a lot of control over his sobriety and how often he drinks.  This position is too important to be binge drinking randomly on a day off and trying to recover or drinking off and on occasionally on certain days.  I have a friend who's a functioning alcoholic.  He works during the week and never drinks.  Then when he's done everything necessary and dinner hits on Saturday, he starts up drinking and gets wasted.  Sometimes he'll do it again on Sunday.  He pays me rent so I witness it firsthand.

I don't know if Kavanaugh still drinks a lot or not, but he emphatically stated how much he loves beer and it seems like he's been partying for quite a long time.  I want someone who's fit and capable for this position.  I would even prefer a more conservative judge who happens to rule that way more frequently if that individual is sober and isn't compromised.  I wouldn't like it but obviously Trump was going to get someone nominated to the Supreme Court.  When something is a reality and can't be prevented, I take the best option available.  Is Kavanaugh really the best option?  I don't think so.  In fact, I'm not sure if another Republican president would have even nominated him for the position.  If I continue the hypothetical, let's say another Republican president did it.  I still believe someone else would have withdrawn the nomination and picked another candidate.  Trump is too stubborn and arrogant to admit he made a bad choice.  Does anyone remember Jackson, the pick he wanted for the VA?  His issues were highlighted and he was forced to choose someone else. Of course, even then Trump didn't want Jackson to withdraw.  Jackson had to do it on his own.
