Often times, ideology is asinine, blind and very hard to comprehend. Trump's die-hard base would mostly stick with him, regardless. We will need most independent, women, minorities  etc. to vote him out in Nov. 3.

Despite 2016 campaign promise, Trump is the only president to not release his tax returns in recent decades.  He has kept tax records secret from congress and state prosecutors.  Now New York times report reveals chronic business losses and years of tax avoidance.   In 10 of past 15 years, he paid no federal income taxes because of huge losses.  Only $750 in income taxes paid in 2016.  His finances are under stress by $421 million debt coming due within next 4 years and an IRS audit that could cost him over $100 million in penalties.  Questionable deductions for business expenses such as consulting fees for daughter Ivanka.   He is under investigation for tax fraud in New York.  Also he is a national security risk vulnerable to foreign influence due to his indebtedness, reliance on income from overseas, and refusal to distance himself from his businesses.  Trump really isn't as rich and successful as he pretends to be.

Trump enters debate trailing Biden in many polls and needs to find a way to gain more votes.  But he did nothing to improve his standing.  In contrast, recent fundraising reach a new record for Biden campaign.  He won first debate according to polling by Yougov and Data for progress.  Viewers thought Trump appears as an unhinged abusive bully.  Whereas Biden seems more presidential and performs better than expected.  However undecided voters are likely to remain undecided.  Debate makes clear election is a referendum on whether Americans want normal civic politics or Trump's brand of lying and chaos.

Trump is the 'single largest driver'
of COVID misinformation

A study by Cornell University has found that
the president is the "single largest driver of misinformation around COVID."
The findings, first reported on by the New York Times, identified 11 topics of misinformation,
including false theories about the provenance of the virus and ineffective "miracle cures"
such as the anti-malarial hydroxychloroquine, that circulated in "traditional media" outlets.
Researchers also found "that the majority of COVID misinformation is conveyed by the media
without question or correction."

“That’s concerning in that there are real-world dire health implications,"
lead author Sarah Evanega told the Times.
