The irony is that when he said this he was basically doing a "campaign" speech. He knows what he is saying is total BS but he also knows that the people he is talking to there are naive enough to believe anything he says. Pretty sad actually.

Is there still 75 miles of land that the federal government can't build on?
Is Mexico still paying for a wall they don't want in the first place?
“Let me just say, Mexico’s not going to pay for the wall. And, by the way, America should, if we believe that’s in our national interests to do so,” the Florida senator (Marco Rubio) told Stephanopoulous.
Looks like the Mexicans will not pay for the wall, so US tax payers will have to pay it. Sorry.

trump's talking to people whose last interaction with science was struggling to memorize the planets in elementary school and he's talking about a solar wall? you guys have to think this is funny. scary, sad, pathetic, but funny.
i can't tell if trump is insane and really dumb or just says this stuff because that's his audience and he's testing the boundaries of their ignorance. like a sadistic game.
anyway, there are so many problems with this idea. i won't even get into the construction and maintenance costs but if it worked, what does trump think would happen with the energy produced by the wall.
it has to be transported somewhere. how and where would it be transported? would it power all of those houses on the mexico/US border?
my guess is trump has no idea how solar energy works. he could probably tell his supporters his other plan is to send a rocket ship to the sun and cut off a piece of it and bring it home to power the earth (not the muslim parts tho) for the next million years. as long as we go at night when the sun isn't not shining, it'll work. his supporters would stand up ad cheer.
however, wireless solar power transmission is probably something that will materialize one day. if trump was serious about this kind of thing, he could seek to invest in that kind of technology as part of a plan to get off of fossil fuels. but we all know the solar wall nonsense is about as serious as mexico paying for it.

A solar wall along the mexican border will be destroyed by mexicans, some of them rapists, and some i assume would be good people. But it will be destroyed nonetheless.

Just curious... are you in favor of us building a wall to keep out illegal immigrants? I gather by this thread that you aren't in favor of a "solar wall"... but I am just curious about the immigration and wall issues in general.
Feel free to elaborate on your reasons, pro or con.

I am in favor of the wall , I believe it would be in good order to handle immigration. through land custom check points on both sides of the border. I would deter illegally running drugs across.
the wall and solar array could monitor air traffic and potentially tunnel construction with monitors . , we seized el chapo assets. when he found guilty i believe someone Mike McCaul maybe? asked that be directly appropriated for the wall.

I down for a wall to keep immigrants out just as long as there are mail slots for the blow. If only we could have the blow without the cartels. How, in the greatest country on the planet, have we not figured out how to grow coca.
TIME TO BRING BACK THE OBAMA CAGES!

stopping blow is impossible, it grows wild in peru columbia brazil and other areas in the tropical section south of equator. most would not know a coca plant from a ficus bush here. and plants are shipped for tropical arrangements on a daily basis. coca seeds would not look much different from tomato seeds. and reality of dna fingureprint remanufacturinf litterally the could clone the leaves in modern labrotory equipment, however our money would not be going south of the border and mules would not be coming here to face human trafficing through the white slavery networks cause a guy in bar wants to do a line.

For anybody opposed to some sort of wall or barrier, or opposed to immigration restrictions in general, I would be curious to hear their reasons. I think some people will say "Mexico won't pay for it, US tax dollars will." I understand that "argument"... but it seems like most of the people who have been opposed to it were opposed to it for other reasons, and that is what interests me. Moreover, some people have used this proposal (or even the suggestion of it) to fuel their hatred of Trump, which I also find very interesting.

Dude, "the wall" came out of Trump's mouth, thus it must be lambasted by the MSM, and all of those whose opinions are formed by it.
The subject matter is 100% irrelevant, if Trump says it, they attack it.
This thread just happens to be about a wall.
If a solar wall does go up, much of the sun would come from Mexico, so they do end up paying for part of it

I've thought about this as well ...
We have weed grown indoors in a controlled environment.
Why can't someone duplicate the conditions of Colombia and grow indoor coke?
Probably just a matter of time.

some do, you can grow poppy plants, marijuana, and coca plants all in the same conditions. 85 degress humidity levels at 60% and full light 12 hours on 12 hours off. or outside in baton rouge...

The point of this thread is not about the merits of a wall. The point is that a wall, as trump describes at least, will not happen. He knows it. We know it. And now he is talking about solar panels. Ha.
The point is that he is back in campaign mode and making more wild claims that he knows will excite his base. He knows what they want to hear. And he will tell them all day long. Bringing back coal jobs. Haha. People believe this.
Meanwhile he and his crew will methodically strip more and more from that very base. See the proposed health bill for the most obvious example.
