I have looked at this carefully each day for the last 6 months and I am a registered Republican. I will tell you Obama will be our next president with VERY little doubt. There are a number of reasons for this but in the short and stupid version the average voting american is not an intellectual that reads the economist, wall street journal, ibd, etc.. Presidents are sold by speeches, charisma, campaign strategy, economic mix, etc.. The biggest thing unfortunately is with the sheep and drone voters in this country is they vote by feeling and looks. Obama speaks like an Evangelist Preacher and he is also the incumbent. Even with the faltering economy Romney can not get a competitive advantage here over Obama! Romney appears half uncertain and wishy washy on occasion and simply does not have the charisma to beat even a president with an unimpressive track record like Obama. Then Axelrod and Obamas other campaign staff is taking it agressively into the swing states and college campuses again and even has Bill Clinton on tv saying Obama can bring things back to the old way when Bill was president. The intellectual will look into this and call Obamas bluff of course but REMEMBER THE AVERAGE VOTER IS NOT AN INTELLECTUAL FOLKS, but a simple minded superficially balanced being that is sold to by a slick evangelical speaking president! This is your mass of votes and Obama will be your next president. I'm not happy about this at all but in this country with the current system as it is this is what will be barring a tradgedy of some sorts.

I agree. especially with the fact that Bill Clinton is backing Obama so strongly? If Bill Clinton wants to legalize crack cocaine to underage children, America will vote for it. They love Bill Clinton.

You came to the right conclusion for the wrong reasons. Obama has been an apologetic, unmitigated disaster, but Romney is equally clueless and out of touch with middle class America. Thus anyone of intellect would not vote for one dolt to replace another dolt.

First, Turn off MSNBC and their talking points of class warfare. O'bama loves to incite this hatred and disdain for the upper class.
Let me ask you a question. Is a business man or a community-organizer more qualified to lead our economy. If Romney allows you to get a job, or a better job, is he really out of touch with middle america ??
A rising tide can lift all boats. Think about that.

Only if all the boats are in working order..last I checked Mitt's boat has been running over the little guys schooner and the middle classes tug boat for a strong decade plus.
A rising tide to Romney lifts the boat of his group, the tide has been sinking the lower and middle class while building the upper class..
Bad analogy.

i don't find this question to be relevant at all in this race. even assuming the answer is romney, adn who knows if it is, what makes anyone think romney is interested in leading our economy in any way that helps regular people?

I have bet Obama (democratic party over republican party) for the last several months, all the way up to -200 where it sits now.
If something major doesnt happen like illness or death, it is inconceivable to me that Newt or Mitt can beat him, and forget Santorum.
Dont care whrere you stand politically - I know you nutjobs will want to turn this in to a political debate about the candidates merits - Im just talking pure gambling value.
You will not see a -200 again that has this much value. The downside is you are making a 9 month wager, but it is printing money.
While the market did swing against Van's original position for a long time, this wager is looking really good right now. -200 is a bargain compared to the current prices being reported in the previous posts.
He was also correct in his sentiments about this thread turning political as oppose to purely gambling. Gotta give the man credit right now. Despite the market swing against him for a while, he is currently beating the market.

Election betting was much more fun when WSEX live betting markets were a large part of the gaming world.
I hammered George W Bush on election day 2004 right after the initial exit polls had John Kerry winning a landslide.....that was a fun day, got W at 4-1 to win or 25 bucks a share. One of my largest gaming wins ever.
Obama over McCain was an absolute cinch, and that was in the -180 range 2 weeks out.
I agree with Vanzack, Obama walks in this election. Romney may very well win the popular vote and lose the electoral college. It doesn't really matter how close the electoral vote count is either....winner take all, and Romney will not contest any votes after the fact either.
This thread has been a pretty good read, but I am surprised at how many guys think that the voting process is actually fair. If you take a look at the county-by-county map of the United States, then there is a hell of a lot more Red than Blue. The counties that are going to be extremely important in determining whom wins this election reside in Ohio and Florida, and remember that the latest Census count has tweeked many of these precinct lines.....In my humble opinion these counties have been under the microscope for 4 years now, and every effort has been made for the incumbent to hold on to them at all costs.
Basically, we have a nation of 350 million people....and 3 million voters are going to decide the outcome of this election. Until the USA goes to a method of election based on the popular vote, or "one man one vote", then any outcome of an election is simply a product of political strategy and not a product of each American's will.
Personally, I locked in Obama -220 back in early August....have to take the politics out of this one and just take the money and move on.
IMO, Obama to win the election is one of the strongest plays that a person can make, no matter how bad it is for the country politically.
Never Make A Winner A Loser. Never.

I am one who believes Romney wins this by 5%. The turnout will be different this time out. Polls are using 2008 models when Obama had a huge turnout of people who don't normally vote. He won't have as much of that turnout this time.
Romney will have every republican in the country go to the polls because of the hatred of Obama. He is also leading with the independents.
I think Romney wins, and the country goes nuts burning cars and couches and other items. People will assume he stole the election and there will be riots.
I have money on Romney +300.

Obama plummeting back down below -300 after last night's debacle. He must have thought he was going to be interviewed by Oprah, because the arrogant ass was ill-prepared.
