There are some factories down here for EV companies but I am not sure if AZ has more than other states, I know there are not super awesome rebates or incentives (not shocking) but it might just be that it is snowbird season so more people are down here now than usual.

I agree that solar, in the correct location and circumstances, is beneficial. However, the game is always changing with solar. PG&E in my area of CA had changed their program and has limited the amount solar owners can feed the grid back and drastically changed the amount. Those that had solar prior to early 2023 could take advantage of feeding all their extra energy back. Now, new solar can only feed something like 25-35% back. So now PG&E is basically forcing everyone to install the battery, which IMO, makes sense as solar can not store energy. Just added more costs and kind of takes away the incentive to feed the grid back. If PG&E never changed the game and everyone magically installed solar over night, why would PG&E need to stay in business? So this is going to increase demand for batteries and materials. Where do we get these materials from? Will there be any wars started over land that holds these resources? How do you dispose of old batteries and will disposing of old batteries be good for the environment, or is that counter productive? How long are these batteries going to last and what's the install/replacement costs? Will it be a net positive or negative on solar owners in the long run?

Someone sent me this clip of Jared Bernstein chair of the United States Council of Economic Advisers. He is usually a pretty sharp fellow but kind of baffled himself here.

In his defense, he is not usually this bad. I think he wasn’t really anticipating that series of questions. Then he got to outthinking himself when answering a question that he apparently was anticipating. Either way, it is hilarious and a lot of folks are having fun with it.

@Barbarossa Speaking of morons. I saw another one with something along the lines of: The secret plot of Republicans to make Liberals look like idiots, known as “Operation Just Let Them Speak” is working. Then it showed pictures of AOC, Harris, and Biden.

Most economists agree Trump policies would worsen inflation. Higher tariffs, curbing immigration, tax cuts, cheap money and dollar devaluation. If Trump is re-elected, US could pay a heavy price.

Most economists agree that the Biden admin. policies, if allowed to continue, would be disastrous for the US economy. Higher insurance costs, higher healthcare costs, higher inflation, millions of illegals exacerbating an already growing homelessness problem were cited.

You forgot supporting and financing wars, higher energy costs, DEI used in critical positions like airline pilots, traffic controllers, secret service agents, etc.
Most sane people would choose
--"controlled immigration" over "uncontrolled immigration"
--"controlled evolution of moving away from fossil fuels" to "uncontrolled evolution of moving away from fossil fuels"
--"controlled management of foreign affairs" over "uncontrolled management of foreign affairs"
--"most qualified and capable employees in all and especially critical positions" over "unqualified and incapable employees based on race, ideology, or gender identity"

My neighbor who has worked for State Farm for 20 years would disagree with your synopsis. All insurance companies across the board have increased rates and what those in the industry say is the reason is two fold. First is the increase in natural disasters over the last say ten years..more fires, floods, tornados (as we see this last week for example) and the increase in costs of vehicles to repair/replace. Vehicles are more tech and that tech costs more to repair or replace when accidents happen. We are bundled with home and cars and no claims of any kind, our insurance on our home has gone up maybe 20% over the last ten years and that is more due to increasing the insured value as appreciation has gone up. As values go up the insured value has to go up and that is a sliding scale which means higher premiums. Our vehicle insurance has gone up more like 75-100% in the same time frame and I have used the same agent for 20 years and I will call and ask what is going on in addition to chatting with my neighbor about rates. The conclusion is that there are more claims and the cost to repair has gone up with the advances in car tech. Insurance companies are not politically biased, especially mutual insurance companies like State Farm. If claims increase and costs to repair increase, if cars cost more in coverage terms then rates go up. That is pretty much all there is.
I refuse to buy new cars because I dont want to have huge insurance and property tax costs just to drive a dumb car so probably for people with Lucid or Rivan or Tesla cars it is even worse, my 15 yr old car is low miles, low insurance and low property tax so I guess I sidestep inflation to a degree.

Economists Zandi of Moody analytics and Luther of American institute expect lower inflation closer to 2% in Biden's second term. This is due to diminishing impact of pandemic, tight monetary policy, easing in job market and normalization of growth in housing costs.

Same here. I've got a 20yo suv with rather low miles that works for me & I've kept it in good shape. Even with low USAA rates, I decided to drop down from full coverage last year. It's also nice to only pay around $100 for tabs every year instead of the $500-$1000 some do with newer rigs. But it's only one part of the equation.

fuck yeah you’re right
I do not encounter too many people who are ever able to backtrack for an instant , or admit fault , and that’s even before they are either proven wrong or given more information with which to make a decision .
Most people are always stuck in either one or the other gear of their 2 speed mental transmission that inevitably breaks down and then can’t be fixed , because why would they have it looked at ? Ain’t nothin’ wrong with it ya know ? It’s fine .

Agree...our second vehicle is a 20 yr old low miles truck, same thing it works looks perfect and better insurance rates. We considered dropping full but with used car rates being high and the low savings difference it was not worth dropping full with how lousy the drivers are here in AZ.

Do not believe the flood and tornado hysteria myself. Wildfires? Yes we have more idiot humans setting fires.
Notice strong and violent storms are actually down from the 1960-70's. We have more population now in a storm's path, hence more damage per storm.
Also note, if you actually read the article, that tornado tracking has advanced by decade and now even the smallest are identified and recorded. Same can be said with named tropical storms, you need 1 minute of 100 mph wind to name a tropical storm. I would dare say none escape detection today while many we missed years ago.
How about the Palm Sunday tornado outbreak of 1965, the 1967 Oak Lawn outbreak, etc.
