This came up before and he had no good answers. This is another thing where folks just want to complain about DeSantis.
A huge part of this is the litigation issue in Florida. Florida accounts for 80% of all lawsuits and the rest of the states combined for 20%. This is due to an idiotic State Supreme Court decision that will pay plaintiff’s attorney 3x their normal hourly billing amount. So, quite naturally there are more lawsuits. So, there have been insolvencies and some insurers deciding to leave the state. Hurricanes have always been a thing in Florida. But with more folks in disaster-prone areas that did not have flood insurance that was costly. So, now they are forcing more folks to have flood insurance.
There is also now a big push to move more folks to private insurers instead of State-run Citizens.
But the lawsuits have certainly caused the resinsurers to leave Florida. Quite naturally this has a bad affect on the smaller insurers that relied on them.
It is similar to Louisiana auto insurance costs compared to other states.
The housing boom in Florida is amazing though. Folks can sell their homes in other, more costly, states and outright buy a much nicer home in Florida.
But again the DeSantis administration injecting $2 Billion in funds to help prevent frivolous lawsuits and help folks make their homes more ‘hurricane-proof’ is another useless tactic to me. All these things do is encourage more folks to continue moving into disaster-prone areas. Then when a bad year for storms comes you get another rash of insurance issues.
It is right now a case where you take the good with the bad. Florida has no state income tax and generally great weather — but it has the highest home insurance. People will adjust.

Yessir. I know you do not like him. But he is not the one that made the SC decision. He is causing more folks to move to FL, and thus, into disaster areas by having a great state and economy. But $2Billion? Come on. That was all political and will be a waste of tax-payer money. That was a cave-in to politics by DeSantis.
In a way it could be a good thing because it might keep more people away. But still more and more folks are willing to move to FL. It only is hurting longterm residents now because the immigrants have the money to pay.
I think it will have to be part of the cost of being a great state right now. Maybe the markets adjust as the folks do.

But for some of the other regular folks -- these things hurt them.
Like I said, for the transplants, they are saving money and moving to a great state.
But Florida is almost pricing itself out of business for the generational natives.
I know several people that have told me they have gotten tremendous random offers on their house. BUT they cannot take the offers even if they wanted to -- because they would have to buy another house at inflated prices with a higher interest rate.
But I hope things level out soon.

Correct. For a lot of us that is the case.

Would DeSantis agree to an MSNBC debate with Rachel Maddow as moderator to choose the questions? Because that’s essentially what Newsom did in reverse. But we all know DeSantis would never do that because he’s a coward. No question from Hannity last night about the property insurance crisis in FL? No question from Hannity about removing elected State Attorneys for saying they won’t put women in jail who get abortions? Nevertheless, it was an enjoyable bloodbath.
I do not see why not. He has a past history of it.
For example:
But Newsom showed up. Is there any other Democrat who would? DeSantis also goes into hostile media when they have the nerve to invite him – having recently done Morning Joe and Bill Maher. Would Joe Biden and Donald Trump cross over?

I've got this set to record since it falls during Monday Night Football
But I agree this should be a particularly revealing interview from a republican who knows all the facts.

Scintillating interview! Cheney exposes the underbelly of the GOP neo-fascist movement and names names! She shows valid reasoning for ripping on McCarthy, Johnson, her form GOP colleagues in congress, the entire new version of the republican party, and of course the RICO organized crime boss of the Trump crime family.

In Oath and Honor, Cheney tells the story of our perilous moment in our history, those who helped Trump spread the stolen election lie, those whose actions preserved our constitutional framework, and the risks we still face.
Her book serves both as a roadmap laying out how Cheney realized in the days and weeks following Trump's loss in the election the dangers of what Trump and his allies were trying to do to overturn the 2020 results, as well as a stark warning that she believes the checks and balances of the Constitution will not hold if Trump is reelected in 2024.

So to summarize what TRMS was illustrating was trump's fraud perpetrated last September during the presidential debates... The UAW strike was a BIG effing issue at the time. Most of America on both sides supported the UAW cause! Joe Biden did something unprecedented and not only voiced his support for them but actually travelled there and walked the picket line with them! It was all over the news. It was a good thing, and President Biden deserved the credits for his actions supporting labor.
Meanwhile, the trump team eyed that enviously. So they decide to ditch the republican debates and instead fly up to Michigan "to make it look like trump was supporting the UAW strike ....whereupon trum promptly stepped on a rake," Maddow stated. He tried to copycat the same thing Biden did.....but botched the whole deal by staging their news bites with a fraud. trump team had signs made and handed them out to dozens of onlookers to make it look like they were UAW strikiers and supporting trump! They lied and fabricated the whole effing mess! They gathered NON-UNION auto parts employees and onlookers to the alleged "rally" to give the false impression trump was supporting UNIONIZED auto-workers, and lied about it. Headlines revealed very few even bothered to show up for trump's speech event. Reporters at the scene asked multiple protestors about the various signs they were carrying. "One individual in the crowd who held a very large sign that read "UNION MEMBERS FOR TRUMP!" acknowledged to the Detroit News reporter that she wasn't a union member! Another person brandishing a large sign that read "AUTO WORKERS FOR TRUMP!" admitted he wasn't even an auto-worker, let alone part of a union! trump did a FAKE event. Complete fabrication! The Detroit News exposed the scam.
This story resurfaced last week because a reporter uncovered an official Federal Election Commission receipt to discover that the trump team did indeed stage the fraud by RENTING a NON-UNIONIZED auto-parts facility (Drake Enterprises, for $20,000 on Sept 26) to make it look like the UAW was supporting trump.
All an entire FRAUD! As Maddow accurately summarized the debacle: "...But here's a candidate FAKING a union event, with FAKE union members, and FAKE auto-workers, who were given signs by the campaign to falsely identify themselves, in the hopes that no one would check, and then they got caught."
Not surprisingly since that trump team's fraud, the UAW has decided to give Joe Biden their endorsement, not trump.

RNC’s ‘election integrity’ lawyer charged with election crimes
MSNBC -
A total of 18 Republicans were recently indicted i n Arizona as part of the party’s fake elector scandal from 2020, including 11 people who served as fake electors themselves. But it’s worth pausing to take a closer look at one in particvular.
The Republican lawyer’s name might not be immediately familiar to national audiences, but Christina Bobb made headlines last month after Trump took over the RNC and hired Bobb to serve as Senior Counsel for Election Integrity.
In other words, a grand jury in Arizona has indicted the RNC’s election integrity chief on election-related crimes!!!
Specifically, the indictment includes charges of conspiracy, fraud and forgery.

Rachel Maddow points out hypocrisy in Dem rep Cueller, now under indictment from the FBI. He voted to expel serial liar and fraud George Santos when he got indicted, but Cueller refuses to leave now that he is under indictment and in fact intends to defend his seat in the coming election.
Nobody's above the law. If prosecuted and found guilty he should suffer the consequences......the same as anyone else (except trump of course)
