Rachel Maddow highlighted that Republican Vice Chair Liz Cheney noted that it was then-Vice President Mike Pence who called for the military to defend the Capitol when it was under attack. Not Trump.

“Trump gave no order to deploy the National Guard that day, and made no effort to work with the Department of Justice to coordinate and deploy law enforcement assets,” Cheney said in early June. “But Mike Pence did each of those things.”

General Milley added that Pence was “very firm” in telling then-Secretary of Defense Chris Miller, “Get the military down here, get the guard down here, put down this situation.”

Part of what made this extraordinary was the degree
to which it casts Trump in an indefensible light:
The then-president could’ve called the Joint Chiefs
chairman and the Defense secretary, but he made
a conscious decision not to.

A federal judge on Wednesday ordered the release of emails
from John Eastman, a former Donald Trump attorney,
to House investigators, saying the communications were made
in furtherance of a crime related to Trump’s efforts to subvert
the 2020 election.

      “The emails show that President Trump knew
      that the specific numbers of voter fraud were wrong
      but continued to tout those numbers, both in court
      and to the public,” Judge David O. Carter wrote.

“The Court finds that these emails are sufficiently related to and in furtherance of a conspiracy to defraud the United States,”  he added.

New York times report there is evidence Fox news also knew Trump election claims are false but recklessly promoted them anyway.  Now Fox faces a multi-billion dollars defamation lawsuit from voting machine company Dominion.

A watchdog group on Monday asked the
U.S. Federal Election Commission to probe a $20 million transfer
between two groups tied to former President Donald Trump,
alleging the money was illegally sponsoring Trump's aim to
return to the White House.

Since leaving office in 2021, the former president has aggressively
raised money for his Save America group.
But under campaign finance rules he is barred from spending
Save America funds on his own campaigns.

In October, Save America transferred $20 million to a
Trump-aligned group called Make America Great Again Inc.

The legal complaint filed on Monday by the Campaign Legal Center,
a non-partisan group, said the FEC is obliged to investigate the
transfer because the money is "obviously intended to fund support
for Trump's 2024 presidential candidacy."

Rep.-elect George Santos made additional false claims over the years about his family history, work history and education in campaign appearances over the years, a review of statements made in two of his campaigns for Congress found.

 KFile uncovered more falsehoods from Santos, including claims he was forced to leave a New York City private school when his family’s real estate assets took a downturn and stating he represented Goldman Sachs at a top financial conference where he berated the company for investing in renewables.

CNN also reviewed more instances of Santos providing additional false history of his family’s background.

Meanwhile, GOP leadership remains completely silent.

But the previously unreported claims from Santos illustrate a pattern of fabricating details about his life, often in service of presenting a more compelling or interesting personal narrative. The Nassau County district attorney’s office said Wednesday that it is looking into Santos’ fabrications, though it did not specify the falsehoods it would explore.

A New York judge on Friday said disgraced former President
Donald Trump must face a lawsuit by the state's attorney
general accusing him of fraudulently overvaluing his namesake
real estate company's assets and his own net worth.

Attorney General Letitia James had sued Trump,
his adult children Donald Jr., Eric and Ivanka and
the Trump Organization last September over an
alleged scheme to inflate Trump's assets by billions
of dollars through a decade of lies to banks and
insurers, in what she called a "staggering" fraud.

Justice Arthur Engoron of the state Supreme Court in Manhattan
rejected Trump's claims that James waited too long to sue,
fell short of establishing fraud, and should have better justified
the $250 million of damages she is seeking.

The Judge also said Ivanka Trump could be sued
despite her claims she had not falsified valuations
and not worked for the Trump Organization since 2017,
saying she could be liable for participating in "continuing wrongs."

New York has just convened a special grand jury to investigate because the facts suggest a serious crime by "individual #1" was previously covered up by then Attorney General William Barr and his DOJ.

Previously, prosecuters had written a 40 page detailed report with enough clear evidence to indict and convict two players, Cohen and Trump.  But Barr ordered the report remove all references to Trump and cut to just 21 pages fingering only Cohen!!

(AP) — A newly released audio recording offers a behind-the-scenes look at how former President Donald Trump’s campaign team in a pivotal battleground state knew they had been outflanked by Democrats in the 2020 presidential election. But even as they acknowledged defeat, they pivoted to allegations of widespread fraud that were ultimately debunked — repeatedly — by elections officials and the courts.

The audio from Nov. 5, 2020, two days after the election, is surfacing as Trump again seeks the White House while continuing to lie about the legitimacy of the outcome and Democrat Joe Biden's win.

The Wisconsin political operatives in the strategy session even praised Democratic turnout efforts in the state's largest counties and appeared to joke about their efforts to engage Black voters, according to the recording obtained Thursday by The Associated Press. The audio centers on Andrew Iverson, who was the head of Trump's campaign in the state.

“Here’s the drill: Comms is going to continue to fan the flame and get the word out about Democrats trying to steal this election. We’ll do whatever they need (inaudible) help with. Just be on standby in case there’s any stunts we need to pull,” Iverson said.

Iverson is now the Midwest regional director for the Republican National Committee.
