So if we are supposed to be up in arms about letting these groups have a night, then shouldn’t we also be up in arms about churches that have decades of sexual assault of children (aka grooming) also? The Catholics and evangelicals (Southern Baptist scandal, we’re looking at you) need to get off their high horses about this topic, they’ve lost the moral high ground.

What would help more is to teach people to be nice and respect each other
Diversity, equity and inclusion education is about teaching people to be nice and respect each other. UCLA reports that acceptance of LGBTQ people has increased in 56 out of 175 countries since 1980. 5 most accepting countries are Iceland, Norway, Netherlands, Sweden and Canada. 5 most intolerant countries are Azerbaijan, Takistan, Zimbabwe, Somaliland and Ethiopia.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you sure sounds like equity and inclusion to me. Diversity is always good as well, it’s part of the definition of inclusion and as all of us capitalists/evolutionists know, diversity breeds competition, and competition makes us stronger.
Some would prefer a fascist religious state. That’s just not for me.

I dont see it as an LGBT issue, so the fact their group gets acceptance really is not the topic. My reply was that the topic does not belong in K-6 especially in a public format, topics of sexuality and gender transformation is not appropriate for kids and especially done through a taxpayer funded school system. My comment was that instead of teaching about differences in sexuality and choices it would be better to teach kindness, tolerance, getting along with others in general not at all specific to a certain sexual topic or group.

Media matters report that Fox news spend hours fearmongering about Target children clothes with positive messages about LGBTQ community. But under a minute covering abuse allegations of 2000 children at Catholic church in Illinois. GLAAD poll shows most Americans say companies should publicly support LGBTQ people. They aren't dangerous but deserve the same human rights and safety as everyone else.
However Human rights campaign has declared a national state of emergency because of record number of anti-LGBTQ laws introduced in states. This erosion of civil liberties by extremists threaten the safety of LGBTQ people. Homeland security department warns of increasing violence. LGBTQ people are nine times more likely than non-LGBTQ people to be victims of hate crimes according to Williams institute at UCLA law school. To counter homophobia and anti-trans hate, solution is more education to defend values of diversity, equity and inclusion. Especially against false accusations of pedophilia and grooming of children.

You came into the wrong thread to spew your bile and lies... 2000 children? LOL sounds legit. I'm sure there are some bad priests but it's far from the majority! Where as ALMOST EVERY homosexual has been abused and traumatized or TAUGHT their behavior. I'm sure for some it's a personality disorder as most seem to be craving attention but it's ALL MENTAL ILLNESS. Sorry about your feelings but the FACT is no one is, was, or ever will be BORN homosexual. This is #SCIENCEFACT. There's a reason why God put your anus or where it is and it's not what you think ...
GLAAD polls? Are you missing something? Say it out loud. 'GLAAD POLLS.' Did they borrow from the the same pollsters who predicted a Hillary victory in 2016? I can assure you the American public do not support the 3% other than to have the same freedom and the same rights as the rest of us. I'm not sure why you would EVER believe the fake news media. Civil liberties this. Extremist bullshit that. Blah blah blah. More lies. I would say to the rainbows use the correct restroom and stay away from children and you'll be just fine.

2000 children? American public do not support the 3%
Illinois attorney general investigation found 451 clerics abuse nearly 2000 children over period of 90 years according to CNN, NBC and many news sources. In pride month, right wing media is waging culture war on companies that support LGBTQ community. For examples, Target, Bud Light and Disney.
However Forbes report polls showing Americans are broadly on the side of some LGBTQ rights. Gallup poll reveals majority believe gay rights are morally acceptable and support same sex marriage. Kaiser family foundation poll found majority support laws forbidding LGBTQ discrimination in workplace, school, military and housing. PRRI poll reveals majority oppose allowing businesses to refuse services to LGBTQ people. NPR/PBS/Marist poll found majority oppose ban on drag performances. ABC/Ipsos poll reveals majority oppose "don't say gay" law that restrict education on gender identity and sexual orientation in high school and college.

I really wonder sometimes if these people are able to look themselves in the mirror for ANY amount of time or at least think for themselves... Maybe it's easier living in their fantasy world?

Being LGBTQ is not a mental illness according to American psychiatry association and Mental health America. But many LGBTQ people experience higher risks of anxiety and depression. Not because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. But due to societal stigma, discrimination and denial of human rights. Discrimination against LGBTQ people has been associated with higher rates of substance abuse and suicide. LGBTQ community is one of the most targeted in the US when it comes to hate crimes.

Funny how you so regularly throw out rude comments and act as if the same exact thing does not go on for your side every single day. Acceptance isnt a horrible thing, in fact it is part of a good aspect of human nature. What I call promotional is conservative judgement and abuse to those who are not like them..especially religious promotion that we see and have seen since the Bible was first written. Promotional is also watching a tv show from the 60s and 70s that blasted the abuses of women, of minorities, abuse of children and acting like it is normal and part of a good ole conservative upbringing. Promotional is people from God fearing South still hating minorities and thinking that a white guy is genetically superior when in fact it is the reverse.
Grandstanding and promotion is not unique to the LGBT group, if you label and judge a large group by its fringe extremes then you are no better than the fringe and extremes of your conservative disgusting fringes that exist.
Liberalism is no more of a disease than conservativism or religious dogma which has a multi generational stain on society and the public education system or segregation, lack of rights for women. Human nature is consistent through all demographics, this is no different at all IMO.

"Human rights / acceptance" is much different than "pushing/promoting an agenda"... I thought I made that quite clear in my previous posts. There is nothing to debate here what I put in bold in the first part..... And keep the religion and race out of the discussion. Focus on the topic at hand.... and that is LGBTQ+ community... aka, "the Alphabet Mafia)"
I stand by my earlier comments, and find it hard to believe there are those of you on the left that think it's normal to "Push/promote this garbage to our youngsters in school. Drag queen day at school? WTF ? Who in their right mind thinks this is normal ?
The party of "perverts, pronouns, and perpetrators" is really stooping to a new low..

@StumpTownStu That's because there wasn't any Drag Queen Day.
Just based on the sheer number of schools that exist, there have probably been several drag days. Many even. I was just curious as to what specific story he was talking about. He was all "Google it" as if it was some huge story like the Titanic sinking. Like, "Where have you been, under a rock? Google it."

I googled it.
A drag show performance during an assembly at Pleasant Grove High School in Elk Grove, Calif., prompted outrage from parents. Parents in Elk Grove, California, are livid after a high school assembly featured a drag show that the parents say was inappropriate — and mandatory for students to attend.Mar 11, 2023
On January 19, the City of Columbia, Missouri held its annual Columbia Values Diversity breakfast, an event that celebrates the civil rights legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King. This year, it ventured into new territory by concluding with a drag show in which adult attendees—as is common in these performances—tossed dollar bills at lip-syncing dancers.
But in addition to the public school officials, administrators, religious leaders, business people, and leaders of non-profits in attendance were 30 students who were bussed to the event by their public schools. And the schools had failed to inform their parents that their children would witness a drag show.
But it looks like 2019 will go down in the history as the year of the drag queens took over story hour at libraries across the country. Now an Austin,Texas elementary school has gone one step farther by inviting a drag queen prostitute under the school district's new radical sex education initiative. However, the school is being accused of either ignoring or failing to carry out a full background check on the person they invited.
NEED I GO ON???

@thirdperson I dont see it as an LGBT issue, so the fact their group gets acceptance really is not the topic.
Very well put.
And I believe those (vast majority) who are gay were born gay. Can point out several neighbors and friends in my childhood who ended up gay. Some I thought may be gay ended up straight, some I thought were straight ended up gay. I don't see it as a choice, rather an internal conflict they have to deal with. So let them find themselves when they're old enough.
Even take it one step further I believe you are born leaning conservative or liberial. Everybody's different.
Deciding a child is gay or trans is so damn dangerous. Let them develop their own brain for crying out loud. And stop denying children are being hit with this shit. It's like all those child actors and performers who are f'ked as adults. Let them have their childhood!!
And the LGBTQ whatever don't need a month of recognition, a flag, etc. Just get on with your life and I'll get on with mine. Fine with you, be fine with me.
