The nominations were before this whole scandal broke and there's been question if he even has the nerve to show up. He's definitely not some highly celebrated figure in the black community but with all of this said, I am not refuting your statement. I'm sure there are some in the community that don't look down on him and I think most are just indifferent. It just bears noting that nominations are decided much in advance. Nothing would make me prouder than if they revoked his nomination but I don't see it happening. He needs to be a sacrificial lamb. Someone the community collectively seperates itself from as if to say, "We are as deeply troubled by this as anyone else and we don't support it. That would go a long way in helping both race relations and relations between the community and police.
