    It reminds me of people living in states/cities which had not been hit thinking they are above such things due to demographics or health stats or that herd immunity nonsense. A virus does not stop because of blanket generalities or fabricated notions. Sweden had issues, it subsided and then it returns from laziness and a sense of false security.  People do not want to sacrifice or be put out of their comfort zones so instead they make up idiotic ideas like herd immunity. This concept is an insult to science and the complete lack of understanding we have of the mid to long term implications of this (or any) virus. What a massive mistake it was to herd immunity Chicken Pox..now we have multiple generations of shingles, brilliant idea. This virus does not have a history to study so suggesting that allowing people to get it is a smart idea is lunacy period. A virus can hibernate in your body for decades only to return and change the impact over and over. I have a family experience of this, a virus destroys DNA and we have no clue about this specific new virus...so yeah lets say screw it and let everyone get it. Brilliant...no wonder Trump got the nomination, people want to be told not to think and that the institution is out to get them..is calming and soothing and the path of least resistance.

    “Nova Scotia is reporting 16 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the number of active cases in the province to 102. New restrictions for restaurants, gyms, long-term care facilities begin Thursday.”

    If you don’t see a problem with this...

    This is kind of silly really, the issue isnt the government vs the little guy, yet your political position feeds on such nonsense. You want to think that the government is mean, they will take your guns, THEY over tax you and they are the cause of all the problems in the world. What a farce really. The reason small business or ANY business is being closed is about interaction with others period. Sorry to burt the GOP hurt butt bubble, there are government positions which are public facing that are impacted, there are LARGE corps impacted, mid size corps impacted. It has ZERO to do with the government vs Detox, and maybe if you were to figure out the real issue and get some context then you would stop feeling picked on from the nasty government. The only issue is businesses that are considered vital, government and not are exempt...but really does being exempt mean something good?

    I take this virus seriously and have known several people who died directly from this and every single person matters, it isnt about this vs the common cold or the cost of this impact, its about the loss of human life and how flippant we are about sacrificing. I dont like wearing a mask and being limited but I do this and think nothing about it because in the scheme of things every life is important and any of us can be dead from any number of things so how about we value life and try to do all we can to preserve it.

    @wallstreetcappers

      The want of people to politicize everything serves no purpose, but they do it anyway........& actions invite reactions, etc. This virus hit EVERYWHERE! NOBODY knew exactly what it was & NOBODY was able to stop its spread. Even epidemiologists couldn't agree how to handle it. People of all ilks, both in their arrogance & their hypocrisy, have done little to curb it. Even in hindsight, blaming one person for this pandemic is just asinine & the reactions are/were predictable. The governors of all states had different ideas..........some worked for a while then failed (see the Dakotas).......& some never worked at all (see NY & NJ). Now we have some threatening to fine/jail people for having family over for a holiday. As it turns out, there was no right answer.......no "one size fits all" solution. It comes down to personal responsibility, which the lack thereof is a pandemic of its own.

     We're not done with this, folks..........not by any stretch of the imagination. So be careful.....

    “Nova Scotia is reporting 16 new cases of COVID-19,

    bringing the number of active cases in the province to 102.

    New restrictions for restaurants, gyms, long-term care facilities begin Thursday.”

    This is false.  It was known immediately as virus, and a contagion, similar to SARS.  That much was known initially.  And before it got completely out of hand by irresponsible governments, it was known to pass easily from human to human, much like a cold or flu in infection susceptability.

    & NOBODY was able to stop its spread.

    =======

    Eradicate it, no.  Stop the spread and/or significantly reduce the spread to infitismal quantities,  YES!!

    I have shown charts *REPEATEDLY* detailing the nations that have done so successfully.

    Even epidemiologists couldn't agree how to handle it.

    =======

    Partly true but very misleading, in that it implies there was a near 50/50 disagreement.  A few could not agree, but MOST AGREED to treat this as a deadly contagion that could (and did) evolve into a full blown person-to-person pandemic

    People of all ilks, both in their arrogance & their hypocrisy, have done little to curb it.

    ========

    In the US and a handful of other nations, this is true, but not applicable to most.

    A majority of nations in the world have acted responsibly, though NOT the trump regime.

    Even in hindsight, blaming one person for this pandemic is just asinine

    =======

    AGREED!!

    However, on a different subject -- protecting one's citizens from threat (be it military, cyber, financial, or biological) -- that is a responsibility and ACCOUNTABILITY that *DOES* fall 100% on the nation's leaders

    trump is NOT to blame for the worldwide coronavirus pandemic!

    Repeating for added emphasis:

    trump is NOT to blame for the worldwide coronavirus pandemic!!!!

    He is however, TOTALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR FAILING TO PROTECT US *FROM* the pandemic!

    It is HIS number one top priority!  Protect the citizens at all costs!

    He failed.  And he failed badly.

    And right now there are at least 261,500 reasons that support this conclusion.

    The responsibility to protect *ALL* the citizens of the U.S. does not land at the feat of any one governor, nor ALL of the governors.  It is the responsibility our FEDERAL government, not the states!  Sure, once the FEDERAL government (trump) has epically FAILED to do its job then the states are left to scramble to do the best they can.

    It's like in football when an offense goes "3 and out" on every single possession, and so the opponent eventually wins 10-0.  Should we blame the defense for the shutout loss?????

    Now we have some threatening to fine/jail people for having family over for a holiday.

    =======

    No, we do not!!  We have some threatening to fine/jail people for "endangering public health" -- and I am all for it.  And make the fines really, REALLY STIFF!  The same for those caught refusing to wear a mask in public -- which should be a nationwide mandate (with only a few notable exceptions)

    As it turns out, there was no right answer.......no "one size fits all" solution.

    Son, you will find in life that virtually nothing is 100% perfect....ever.

    But some "solutions" are far better than others.   MOST nations, not all but MOST (except the US of course), have followed the same basic guidelines our own CDC, NIH, and WHO and others have strongly recommended.  And as a result, their infections and subsequent deaths per million pop. is a mere fraction of trump's America.  THEY were respons9ble and followed the science.  trump and his accomplices and his dumbass supporters simply REFUSED!

    It comes down to personal responsibility

    That's what Sweden thought would work....... and they were/are wrong.  Now they admit that.

    True.  And we surely would have gotten *some* contagion into the US no matter how fast or how responsible trump could have acted early.  That's a fact.    *some*

    But it sure as HELL didn't have to be anywhere NEAR this bad, as declared by infectious disease experts, the respected research from Ivy League, Columbia Unitversity, and as demonstrated *CLEARLY* in the stats from *MOST* nations around the world.  South Korea for example, instituted mandated public mask-wearing, massive testing, contact-tracing of EVERY COVID CASE, and quarantining right from the get-go -- and as a result they NEVER HAD TO LOCKDOWN ANYTHING!!  While our out-of-control death rate is today 808 per million (vaulting the U.S. into 9th WORST in the world out of 220 nations) South Korea's is only 10 deaths per million....only 523 deaths from covid in the entire country of 51 million people!

    Your side is all about it being a hoax and a media scam, not about how to actually step in front of this and make a difference. I dont think herd immunity works because we know ZERO about this, so why would we think that a virus which has and is evolving would function like other even similar items that we have a strong grasp of? Let alone the long term implications of just telling people to go voluntarily catch a virus, which all viruses can and do destroy DNA, hibernate in the body and resurface potentially over and over and over...yeah super smart logic...go and catch it this is like a stomach bacteria it will pass and nobody will be impacted.

    The worst part is people like you and MANY others are out to lunch on the science of a virus and just want to clean their hands of it all because it is not good for business or the housing sector or the stock market and since people are financially inept they have no savings or reserves for this exact scenario..maybe being a consume first society is not the smartest approach. Maybe sluffing off a freaking virus because Americans have no savings is a pretty dimwitted thing to propose?

    Mugg,

    Yeah people were equating it (like the big dufous Trump) to the common cold. We sat on intel which might have made an impact....but as you say in reality even if we had shut down like China did and Europe did, it has returned and will unless EVERY freaking person hibernates, every single person then those with it will either overcome or pass away and not infect others...then you close off the circle and you go forward. Since that is impossible the next best is to greatly reduce interaction and use our smarts to know how to not let people congregate because they feel their personal rights to be stupid are greater than those of society...and their stupidity will cause the deaths of many and of themselves.

    I saw this FB group made by conservative idiots that tells people where they can go for shopping or congregating where social distancing and masks are not an issue...so how about you go and put your mouth on a tail pipe or stand on the freeway and act like idiots all to make a point. NOBODY likes these issues, nobody likes wearing a mask or being extra careful...and if the high high high majority are not all working together then the idiot minorities will undermine the efforts of those who give a crap about more than themselves and their moronic toxic political positions.

    LOL, you just had get your jab at Trump in. Let's not forget who was calling him xenophobic & racist for shutting down travel from China & Europe when he did, or who was encouraging people to not be afraid to get out & mingle a month after. an_light

     I haven't been on FB in a couple years.......just have no use for it. But I saw liberal idiots on twitter this summer planning to gather in suburban towns in my area to riot/loot, but fortunately it didn't go too well for them.

     See where I'm going? There are idiots everywhere.......some have political affiliations but most aren't cognizant enough to know what they are. They don't even know they're idiots. But it's convenient to be able to label them as to NOT be associated with "my people".

     There are a lot of people out there that simply don't pay attention to issues as seriously as some of us do. Hell, if I was a 20-something year old right now I can't say I'd be better or worse. I'm fortunate that my immediate family & friends are taking this seriously, & no one has been infected. Therefore we have had little fear of one another to this point. That being said, we're all taking tomorrow "off" ....... because we all have agreed to for the sake of us all. We've all survived this long with basic, common sense & this is an avoidable risk.

     Have a Happy Thanksgiving all......be cool. peace_5

    Mugg,

    Didnt he compare it to the common cold? I think he did....just saying.

    And you know the zealots down here which ones play stupid and are anti-government in every single scenario just to be anti-government and for their political position.

    Not sure if you are observing the school district situation but in the east valley there are 3-4 districts and ONE is led by a GOP zealot who falls in line with Ducey, CUSD and she has been way off in crazy land this entire time...waiting until the very last minute to make a decision, shaping data to support staying open and following Dougie...while two of the other large names (Tempe and Kyrene) have went back to virtual. Casteel did not plan for virtual and supported a horrible product that nobody liked (and we jumped OUT of it is awful) and now has no solution with the rising numbers so she has to fabricate data and do all she can to not close even if it means kids getting sick and taking it home (which is happening now).

    Its time to stop playing politics and do what is best for the whole, not your political leaning.

    As usual this whole statement as written is FALSE.

    As far as we can prove nobody called trump "xenophobic & racist"

    for shutting down travel from Europe.

    But that is your claim!

    As for anyone (Biden?) referring to adolf trump as "xenophobic & racist" at ANY time over the past 4 years would be true *BECAUSE* adolf trump *is* "xenophobic & racist".

    But specifically around the time covid became news and the announcement of a travel restrictions for any person who had recently visited China, the attributed comments have been REFUTED as "MOSTLY FALSE" by politifact here: https://tinyurl.com/y9292c2s

    Furthermore, conveniently forgotten by most adolf supporters is that while trump announced travel restrictions for those who had recently visited China -- he still allowed over 40,000 American citizens and residents and family members to enter the country who had indeed been not only in China but specifically Wuhan!!!  Over 40,000.   Many of them infected.  And only those showing symptoms were quarantined -- and even then NOT ALL OF THOSE!!  Government officials and the "well-to-do" were known to have been allowed through by just filling out a silly form.....a form which they KNEW would get them quarantined depending on how they answered.

    Then for 6 full weeks, while the virus was spreading worldwide and just beginning to spread in the U.S., the rump regime continued to allow ALL passengers other infected passengers to waltz right in the back door!  He did NOT close the borders to Canada or Mexico.  He did not stop any and all to arrive from Europe during those crucial 6 weeks -- despite the coronavirus raging in northrn Italy, Spain and much of Europe.

    *Not until March 16 did he finally make the move to close the borders and air traffic, to non-essential movement, and even THAT still allows possibilities for the contagion to gain entry!

    But even then he still permitted thousands more potentially infected American citizens to return home AFTER the Euro flight restrictions.  And once again, these people were only required to fill out a form -- knowing the wrong answers would get them QUARANTINED.  Arriving passengers who were interviewed mocked the so-called "screening" as a bad joke!

    SO not only did he FAIL to responsibly block *ALL* the direct carriers of the disease coming from China, he failed MOSTLY in not stopping the "indirect carriers" of the same disease -- ie, thos unfortunates in other countries who got infected in their home country by a traveller who had come from China!  It's like the infamous Maginot Line of WW2.  A massive defensive wall France built along their border with Germany.  But the Nazis simply did an end around and came in through the back door and crushed them!  trump fell for the same trap!   Infected travellers arrive in Canada, spread the disease in the city of their largest international Airport (Toronto), the disease spreads outward, and because trump never closed the borders yet, guess which is the NUMBER ONE traffic border crossing between the USA and Canada? At Niagara Falls. Where infected Canadians now drive into the heart of what US State? --> New York

    And which large international airport in the US receives the MOST International passengers?  JFK (New York)

    Which large international airport in the US receives the MOST International passengers arriving with infections specifically from EUROPE?   JFK (New York)

    And which is the number 2 airport receiving the most number of infected passengers arriving from Europe?  Newark Liberty! (Jersey)

    Atlanta, Chicago O'Hare, and LAX are others.

    Just look at the map of where the US infections are:  https://tinyurl.com/wvs8sn8

    That map shows clearly the hub of infections spreading out and infecting regions immediate to from MAJOR international airports, particularly those in the east -- where MOST (not all, but most) incoming flights from infected Europe would arrive.

    And research has shown that those infected in New York and the entire region, when tested for specific genomes of the coronavirus, showed that strain of the "Chinese Virus" affecting them came primarliy through EUROPE, not directly from China.

    Stopping just China only (and trump didn't even do that!!!) is as effing IGNORANT as devoting all resources in a football game to stopping just ONE pass receiver -- while leaving all the other backs & receivers WIDE OPEN!!!

    And trump allowed that for a full 6 weeks -- and continued to allow infected Americans to fly home after March 16

    That's the worst of it but a very large contributor to the pandemic "problme" in the U.S. now (the overall severity) could have been LARGELY REDUCED or LARGELY PREVENTED by

    - not disolving the office for Pandemic Response that Obama had put in place to protect our citizens,

    - failing to heed advance warnings for pandemic preparedness issued a year ago,

    - failing to resupplu our National Stockpile during his 3 full years ion office (then of course balming Obama)

    - failure to set up a NATIONAL, coordinated response with all 50 states in the event the virus would become a pandemic (which it did)

    - failure to heed warnings from Alez Azar, Scott Gotlieb, Gary Cohn and Tom Bossert in January

    - failure to read and follow good advice in the Pandemic Playbook the Obama administration not only provided, but specifically addressed during their peaceful transition to trump

    - failure to prepare a national response to both testing and contact-tracing,

    - failure to issue a nationwide mask and socila distancing mandate

Let's not forget who was calling him xenophobic & racist for shutting down travel from China & Europe when he did, or who was encouraging people to not be afraid to get out & mingle a month after.

    You should google the IRA. Not the IRA you're thinking about. The Internet Research Agency. You should read up on how they use Facebook, Twitter, ect. It's eye opening stuff. So i'm not shocked that all of these "liberal idiots" were making a big stink on Twitter yet nothing became of it. They were probably bots to begin with.

    No, he did not (in the specific context regarding travel restricitons) ...and I will use the SAME reference you show, which states clearly:

    SNOPES:

    "It’s true that Biden has referred to Trump and some of his statements and actions

    in the context of his handling of the coronavirus outbreak as “xenophobic.”

    But it’s unclear whether Biden was specifically

    referencing Trump’s travel restriction

    on China, as Trump has claimed."

    MUGG wrote falsely:

    "Let's not forget who was calling him xenophobic & racist for shutting down travel from China & Europe when he did..."

    Furthermore, as I already referenced Politifact,

    they rate that comment in its specific context pertaining to travel restricitons from China as "MOSTLY FALSE"

    Of course Biden may well have called trump xenophobic and racist at OTHER times,  and he was right.
