Sweden now struggling with covid

I thought you were a fellow AZ-er thus all the petty detail about neighboring school districts. My comment was of 3 districts in the exact same geographic area, they border each other and are within say a 10 mile radius yet one who IS partisan leadership acts completely opposite of the other two and the super is extremely conservative GOP...that is fact.

Two members of the Swedish Royal Family have tested positive for COVID-19 after attending a private funeral, according to the royal house.

Prince Carl Philip and his wife Princess Sofia are isolating after receiving positive results to coronavirus testing.

A statement from the royal household read: “On Wednesday, November 25, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia in quarantine after they showed symptoms of illness and were subsequently found to be infected with COVID-19.

“The prince and princess show milder flu symptoms, but feel well under the circumstances. Immediately after the illness, the Prince and Princess were quarantined at home with their children.

“Infection tracing is initiated under the supervision of the King.

“The King and Queen and The Crown Princess and Prince Daniel, who are part of the infection tracking, will be tested on Thursday.”

With three words, Sweden's King Carl Gustaf captured the panic engulfing his country as it backflips on a controversial herd immunity strategy and coronavirus case numbers explode.
On Instagram, he wrote, simply: "Hold on tight!"

The message is echoing around the Nordic breakaway nation which, up until now, has run a distinctly different race to its neighbours who locked down hard when the pandemic breached its borders.

It signals a complete reversal of a policy that allowed Swedes to govern themselves in the hopes that life could go on as normal.

Life did carry on as normal and it looked like Sweden might be vindicated for its strategy. But in the past few weeks, the country of 10 million has been smashed by Covid-19.

Beside Sweden and "herd mentality" from Trump, I didn't see other countries on this planet going for herd immunity through deliberate population Covid-19 infection. Sweden has admittedly failed on it, is America really aiming for possible over millions deaths through Trump's "herd mentality"? There is another option which has been endorsed by majority of health experts and medical scientists: vaccination on 70% and more of US population. Science over politics or silliness.

Bottom line.   

Essentially zero Covid deaths in Sweden for a month now. 

Deaths per million last 7 days. 

Sweden — 0.19

Did it? 

Sweden death toll in July doesn't tell the whole story.  For 10 previous months, Sweden case count and death rate are higher than any of its Nordic neighbors, all of which imposed lockdowns, and stricter public health measures.  In 2020, Organization for economic development report concludes Sweden fared worst among 35 european countries in pandemic response. 

King and prime minister admit hands off strategy has been a failure.  So Sweden switched from a strategy of herd immunity to a strategy of virus suppression which worked better.  For examples, limits on gatherings, travel restrictions, extension of paid sick leave, social distancing, ban on visitors to nursing homes and more.  Also vaccination has helped to reduce covid cases, deaths and hospitalizations.

The prime minister never said that. 

Show me a source. 

Sweden has much better numbers than Belgium, Italy, UK, Spain, Portugal, France and other European countries that imposed strict lockdowns.

A gentle reminder that there are countries that never did lockdowns, mask mandates, or any of this other BS, and they fared just as well (if not better) with this virus.
