Humans always have the ability to explore, seek facts on their own (even in communist regimes).  So they are not controlled.. And we as humans are not machines (that can be controlled).  

The biggest question is do the vast majority people (sheeple) seek to use the ability to reason that they were born with  ?

 The issue to me is accountability and responsibility. My replies usually lean towards the individual taking responsibility for their choices, their decisions, their interactions and thinking of others and not themselves. Ive said many times that you can life a self centered life inside the walls of your home by yourself but outside that the thought process has to evolve and change to reflect the fact you live in a society and there are ways to interact, think, decide, etc when in a society. 

Media is just a corporation made up of individuals like you and me who want to make a profit off people who are persuadable and inclined to follow marketing and suggestive inputs. The right vs left is just a mirage meant to persuade people to support a partisan narrative but in the end it really is only about money...so politicians try to make things partisan to get people to vote for them, that is all monetary because corps and private paid groups buy political results to make a financial advantage, it is all about money and power..but power really is about financial accumulation so it is also just about money and control. 

The fact that people are guided by their own personal partisan views and try to force these views onto others, that is what creates the divide it is what gives media control and thus your money and time and your inputs. People are too lazy to consider more than their own selfish concerns, too narrow minded and absorbed thinking that their view is right and others are wrong that their personal beliefs are what is needed in society when in reality the opposite is usually true. The polar partisan positions that exist are not what is needed in society, it is what corps, politicians, media groups need to get those people to give them the control they need and want to profit from the divide and the hate that exists in society.

The media does not want to make society better, bring people together and elevate everyone because that does not make money it does not make profits and politicians do not get elected when society is at peace and people get along..

Nothing partisan about the following bombshell! From award winning author Peter Schweizer. Congress is set to subpoena the personal cell phone used by joe biden  while vp. The bombshell to me is Hunter Biden's company called Rosemont Seneca paid for joe's phone service! How cheap can joe biden be? Never put a cheap skate inside the White House! It will lead to nothing but 1 disaster after another for 320M totally helpless American's! Say it ain't so joe!

Bravo ! It's not often I agree with you Wall, but personal responsibility and self reliance are big on me,.... and they go together.   They are key principles in the founding of this country,  too.  After all, self reliance means people are responsible for their own affairs, and depend less upon their federal government.   These are good things, but lost on so many on the left. 

I will give you the student loan debacle and the discussion here in CA about paying black people for reparations.   These are Exhibits A & B on how personal responsibility is thrown out the window,  and embraced by the Democrat party. 

 

I disagree w your assessment of the media, however.  You say "profit", I say "propaganda" is the motivating factor of the media.  They are becoming oh so similar to state run media in communist regimes.   I.e. advance the state agenda.... in this case in our country.   The Democratic agenda.

The Chinese spy balloon that flew across the U.S. was able to gather intelligence from several sensitive American military sites, despite the Biden administration’s efforts to block it from doing so, according to two current senior U.S. officials and one former senior administration official.

China was able to control the balloon so it could make multiple passes over some of the sites (at times flying figure-eight formations) and transmit the information it collected back to Beijing in real time, the three officials said. The intelligence China collected was mostly from electronic signals, which can be picked up from weapons systems or include communications from base personnel, rather than images, the officials said.

 

Joe Biden today; "China has some legitimate difficulties unrelated to the United States, and I think one of the things that balloon caused was not so much that it got shot down, but I don't think the leadership knew where it was, knew what it was in it and what was going on," he said. "I think it was more embarrassing than it was intentional," he said.
