A person can be called a nazi, fascist, racist , Maga idiot , deplorable..to name few .. that's ok.. a person calls liberalism a mental disorder gets boxed. Go against the left and get boxed. People on the left spread some complete horsecrap and nothing. Got it, it's your ball and you the boss. Mods are not supposed to voice the personal beliefs, like an referee. One can say you are on their payroll.

Ok for the thousandth time, have you read the rules and guidelines? You have not given your repeated replies showing you do not understand how to post on this site. If we banned/boxed members in the politics forum that made generalized combative political comments then there would only be a few left here.

@Barbarossa
Here is a good question to ask, how are the stock prices for the companies you are mentioning? McDonalds, Home Depot, Target, BK, Lowes etc..how is their financial conditions as public companies?
Are their profits dropping, are they losing money are they planning on restructuring? What is the reason they are making these decisions?

@wallstreetcappers
The main reasons, as I'm sure you already know, are online retailers/services, labor costs, taxes, & losses due to theft/vandalism which also leads to higher insurance costs. My local Fred Meyer (kroger) has remained open, but 2-3 years ago they sealed up one of the three entrances & recently have added armed guards at the remaining two. I don't know how many days a week or hours/day they have them, but I never thought I'd see that around here.

I would think multiple reasons. Crime is certainly one. Walmart said they were pulling out of San Fran because of crime and then after blowback they backtracked that statement. Mayor Adams of NY City said crime was closing stores.
San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, New York City, Seattle, Miami and Chicago lost retail stores from the beginning of 2017 to the end of 2021, according to research from the JPMorgan Chase Institute, a think tank.
Like the way they call retail theft "Shrink". Can't call it thievery can we? Ridiculous.
Online shopping has caused a reason to close up buildings that require heat, employees, upkeep, taxes, etc. Amazon's 20% growth from 2021 to 2023 gonna hurt somebody.
Having a Rite Aid next to a CVS that is next to a Walgreens will end up with a couple of losers. Same with AutoZone next to an O'Reilly's next to an AutoWorks. See that alot.

@THEMUGG
Kroger is a cheap skate organization, in my area they have a very high turnover rate and difficulty finding workers because of low pay and poor working conditions.
I think you got my comment and why I made it, NONE of the corps listed above are hurting, none are cash strapped or in trouble financially. That means every single one of them are trying to maximize profits and reduce costs, the post he made was so poor it was almost laughable. No large corp is hurting from Biden and in fact most corps are causing inflation not being harmed from it. All you need to do is look at operating margins....just go to a financial website that shows an income statement, there are many. barchart is a good site they show income statement and balance sheet and filings etc. So go to ANY website that you can see financials and look at the income statement for any of the companies listed above and see their margins, see if they are getting crushed...spoiler alert they are NOT getting crushed, they are CRUSHING it.
Lets stop playing stupid partisan blame Biden games it is so ridiculous and boring it makes you guys look like 8th graders here and cant we do better than this?
The crime issue, if corps were really angry about it they could take steps to deal with it, but they dont want to as it does not make financial sense. It is also not at all the first time we have seen a "desert" being created due to crime...its been going on for decades. Areas of crime become a desert because corps abandon them and move to safer locations, this is the same concept.

I'm sure most of the closures listed are due to "unprofitable" locations, which just makes good biz sense.
As far as blaming Biden for the overall state of the country, it comes with the territory. Hell, Trump has been out of office for over three years & you still have people in here bashing him hourly.

That is just playing partisan games, so since some people dislike and blame Trump then lets do the same to Biden? That is 8th grade immature crap right there.
I dislike Trump but did not blame him for current real time economic conditions nor did I blame him for Covid. I did blame him for wrecking the tax code and for giving corps a repatriating tax holiday...those were his calls and he has to own those but outside that I just think he is a miserable selfish jerk. I also think Biden is a lifer dope who has not accomplished anything for his career of value and was handed the DEM nomination when he should not have, he is horrible but he is not the blame for any of what you guys are suggesting and ESPECIALLY oil/gas prices.
The concept of this forum is discussion, not partisan false blaming and combative lies.

What.....so Biden gets no blame at all? Shouldn't be subject to any criticism? I agree about the 8th grade, immature crap, but look at the threads & their titles in the forum........what are the bulk of them about?

Biden is responsible for plenty but that isnt the point really. The flow through of Biden is part due to what happened on Trumps watch and what happened from the FED, if the FED did not start to tighten then that would have a much more favorable impact on the fiscal condition of the government and to me the FED should have tightened more back when they tried years ago but they quit and reversed course and in doing so they festered their own mess and they actually think that monetary policy impacts inflation, how funny.
Biden's mess is more about the border, that is for sure solely an issue we allowed to happen. I do not consider Israel or Ukraine or even the government debt to be a Biden issue. If you want to throw Biden on the carpet for debt and rising outlays they what are you to say about Trump who had ZIRP and BIBI out of the picture not causing havoc? Trumo raised government spending, he just did it via corporate handouts versus Biden and the DNC who shade towards lower and middle class citizens. Spending is spending, if you want to finger one politician then you need to own what yours did AND all the congress, not just the dopey leader at the top. Our house and senate are split there is no majority there is no steamroll of policy so you have to properly assess the total situation and own what part of it is yours as well.

Saying in 2019 Trump's deficit alone was the reason for a standard of living drop and then defending the current 3X deficit as not affecting is about as partisan as you can get. Saying Keystone Pipieline was all for the Chinese after being shown several fact checkers saying no it was not just as bad.
I, for one, dislike and blame Biden for a great many things, not for any former blame against Trump, because it's justified.
And because the media won't do it when they should. i.e. "Oh the crowd is saying Let's go Brandon."

Smith's is not in the AZ market except for upper north. I know Smiths before it was owned by Kroger actually but down here its Fry's but Kroger is Kroger and they are known for being super cheap on labor and high turnover. Most all supermarkets are rough though because margins are thin.
I dont recall saying that the Trump deficit caused a drop in standard of living, I have said multiple times it was poor fiscal decisions given the big fat mouth he has and your side has about deficits. Spending is spending..your side spends one way the other side spends differently. Ive also said that if SPENDING is not going to change then I would always side with social and domestic programs versus giving corps free cash and funding wars. Now if your side wanted to be fiscally responsible using THEIR pet projects as sacrifice then you have my interest. I would applaud running a balanced budget by stopping war funding and corporate freebies, cut spending by cutting non-domestic, non-lower income areas. Trump had a solid economy thanks to Obama and ZIRP but on his watch we still ran large deficits and that is unacceptable.

Your words in 2019;
"Standard of living has dropped, the numbers do not lie..debt has gone up MASSIVELY with Trump and that has and will continue to erode current and future standard of living for the middle class and poor, the average taxpayer. "

Wow so you tracked back 5 years for two lines, thats super impressive. I think you deserve a wowie-pop for that one.
The context is what you missed though, my point was as I stated above about Trump ramping up debt in the midst of a calm and favorable economic environment, especially pre-Covid. So yes I do feel that debt issued when economic conditions are strong and rates are low is a huge mistake and debt of any sort does as I was quoted reduce the standard of living for current and future citizens.
If you go and buy a 200k Lucid when they offer you a 2% teaser rate and you are making a decent living, does that debt impact your current and future standard of living? Of course it does. Trump ramped up debt during calm economic times and gave freebies to corps, that has a current and future cost to the US citizen and the biggest issue is that your side clamors on about debt when Biden is in the seat but is not willing to cut your pet projects to reduce the debt, just finger pointing and blaming. I would seriously applaud and support the GOP attempting to lower debt and the deficit by giving up pet projects and outlays that are either to benefit corps or are spending on the military, really clamp down on NON domestic spending, focus on the citizens who have the least and critical infrastructure...make better fiscal decisions. Do that and you will see me agree and support. You and your group will not and have not in decades.

My point is you chastise folks claiming they're 8th graders and even you have done the same thing.
And I didn't go back 5 years, I merely searched for "deficit".
And talk about pet projects.........student debt anyone??? Racist highways anyone???? Ankle bracelets for cows for $15 million???
They are all guilty of the same game.
And funding wars???
What was Trump yearly average defense spending vs GDP as compared to Obama or Clinton?
