The on-going Bush hate is absurd

 Interesting MrOPC. Bush Jr. was a little short on brainpower, but yet the aristocracy in America is alive and well. You can tell Bush Jr. never had any really hard problems to think about and try to solve, relative to an average persons problems and their almost daily struggles, thoughts, and problems to solve. I like President elect Barack Obama because you can tell he had to think to solve problems in his life. He is a self made man. Barack Obama is clearly a seperate path from the current and all too common path of aristocracy, wealth, and priviledge in America, regardless of abilities or the lack there of as in Bush Jr.'s case. Bush Jr. had access to the Vice-President and then access to the President. Bush Jr. never would have gained access to the Rangers baseball team had he not had access to the Vice-President/President that the "Texas Mafia" (if they do indeed exist) wanted. So MrOPC are you saying the "Texas Mafia" (if they do indeed exist) is based from Dallas, where coincidentally Kennedy was shot? Then later in Dallas, in one of the strangest tales in American justice, Lee Harvey Oswald was shot by Jack Ruby. No open limousine rides for you in Dallas Mr. President elect Barack Obama. We do not need another of the Kennedy's or Martin Luther King, where it goes so well, and then it ends so wrong. No, Mr. President elect Barack Obama, we don't need that. MrOPC, we'll just have to call this conspiracy theory.  

AT&T, after tapping all of those telephone lines, computers, ect... for the Bush administration, just decided, not to long ago, to move their corporate headquarters from San Antonio to Dallas as well. Again, we'll just have to call it "conspiracy theory."

I know that not all of the rich are to blame, or insensitive to the plight of the American middle class, but what is really fair in taxes. I work my ass off on middle class jobs, budget myself, show spending restraint, save some money, be a good citizen, pay my taxes, ect... and I pay over 40 % in taxes (income taxes, social security taxes, short term investing taxes at 28%, and not the 15% like the CEO's long term granted stock options, heating  oil taxes, electrical taxes, gasoline taxes, sales taxes, registration taxes, labor charge taxes, ect...). A millionare CEO who earns 20 million a year pays less than 20% in taxes every year. Again, is that really fair? A more fair taxation would be where all taxes (including taxes listed above, but not excluded to) listed above to be counted towards the total federal taxes. To be applied to a graduated steps system, where after all taxes are added up, if somebody falls below their minimum graduated rate they pay up to their minimum rate, and vice-a-versa, no exceptions. What is the difference between an individual earning 10 or 20 million dollars in a year? About 10 million dollars that doesn't just sit there, or get sent to China for investment, ect... Capital is more efficiently and more quickly recycled through the American economy by the middle class and lower incomes because on average they have to spend a much higher percentage of their incomes on goods and services. Where as the rich spend a much lower portion of their incomes every year on goods and services greasing the wheels of the economy and keeping the taxation rolling into the government. The Republican/Bush Jr. tax policies are completely for the aristocracy, and against the working middle class and working lower incomes having the most efficient use of capital in the American economy.  

July...........People, like KOAJ, would tell you that there is no problem with the CEO paying less of a percentage because:

 

A.  He pays more than you do anyway

B.  If it wasn't for him, you wouldn't have a job.

Texas Mafia?......Ever walk through the DFW airport?.....Texas is a separate country....the politicians, and especially the Governor (both Dems and Repubs) run the state independently from how the federal government works. When Junior left the mansion in the middle of Austin for the WH, he continued his methods of operation....."My way or the highway"...."Give me reasons why I am right, not why I am wrong".....If you disagreed, you got fired or you resigned (say hello to General Powell and don't let the door hit you in the ass when you leave)......

It should be added that raising taxes right now seems impracticle because tax hikes would be in direct conflict to the desired systemic effect of the economic stimulus packages.

 

Oh, I'm right there in agreement with you MrOPC. Let's keep talking about the percentage of taxes paid per individual. 40% or more for the average little guy and 20% or less for the average big guy, the aristocracy,  the failed leadership the American aristocracy system is creating (Bush Jr. is the poster child for that), and whether one is competent or not competant to be in the position they are afforded in life because of their (communist party), I mean family heritage. After the fall of the USSR, the oligarchs were created based upon their pecking order or communist heritage. The higher up the communist tree you were, for the most part, the higher up the capitalism tree you started in Russia after the fall of the wall. Putin for example, with quite a high and impressive communist heritage as head of the former KGB, eventually became the Prime Minister (czar), ect... Bush Jr. has shown quite a love for the Chinese and Russians to say the least. Didn't Lee Harvey Oswald have quite a love for Russia? But I digress, we all need to try get along, but world trade has to be fair for everybody (1 billion in goods goes to China, and 1 billion in goods comes back to the USA) not just so one-sided like it has been under Bush Jr.,  because our record trade deficits, amongst so many other things (record federal budget deficits) under the Bush administration, are unsustainable for America to have a bright future. My Republican friend told me that the Republican built aristocracy in America is better for all of us, and here we are. I actually like John McCain and my Republican friends that I hang out with, but criticism of the captain of the Titanic (Bush Jr.) and his crew (Rove, Rumsfeld, Cheney, Frist, ect... when it hit the iceburg, absurd? I don't think so! 

Colin Powell is a good man, I respect him. I agree with you. Bush Jr. had to run his administartion like Saddam or Hitler. Only the I am right or else mentality. That's why Saddam actually thought he had WMD, when he didn't. They kept telling Saddam exactly what he wanted to hear or else. Saddam they won't invade, they'll just bomb us (again we should have just blown up every single one of his palaces as a military target one night), Saddam we'll just gas the Americans. It's just not a real bright way to run a government, company, ect... Obama, one can tell, seems to want all opinions (even dissenting ones) before he makes his final decision. Kennedy welcomed dissenting opinions, but made the final decision. Which helped prevent WWIII during the Cuban missile crisis with Russia. Kennedy's generals preferred bombing the selected military targets in Cuba. The Russian generals mentality in Cuba was, if you launch one nuke, then launch them all and hope that you completely destroy your enemies ability to counter attack, because that is your only chance for survival. Kennedy preferred the ship blockade instead. Most accounts of history say that was a wise decision. Could Bush Jr. have done the same? We would probably have blown each other up in the 1960's if Bush Jr. had been in charge then. Scary!

It should also be noted that Bush's,Rove's,Frist's,Cheney's ect... master plan was to render the Democratic party completely ineffective (which they did for a while, holding both the Republican majorities in the House, the Senate, and the Presidency at one time during the Bush Administration) forever in American politics. Yeah, that worked out real well for all of us.  

Unfortunately, for an awful lot of us, who just went to work, saved a little, bought a house, bought a car, conducted ourselves as a good citizen, lived within our budget, ect... we all got screwed. Hopefully for all of us in the USA, we pull out of this or at least stabilize job losses, housing, financial markets, ect... the sooner the better.

I think Bush showed tremendous strength and leadership at a time out country desperately needed it.  For that he gets my thanks.

 

I think he also went to sleep on the job in his second term, and also proactively made some very very bad decisions for Americans.  I will never understand why.

 

All in all, he gets a poor grade, I say D.  Nobody will be worse than Jimmy Carter.  Most of you were not born, or cannot remember how awful he was.  Think twice today's unemployment, 3X the interest rates and inflation rates, and add disco to that.  Those were desperate times.  Makes today in USA look like a walk in the park.

kingme - as Johnny Mac might say, "YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS" - lol. Carter may have been a very ineffective Prez (for reasons that were not all of his own making), but his admin has done nowhere near the damage to the country that the Bush/Cheney one has.

 

As far as disco goes - hated it when it came in, but now sounds better than alot of the stuff that's been out there in the last 25 yrs.

Fuck that, I'm tellin you when all the dust settles and if we are still here probably 100 years from now it's gonna be public knowledge that that asshole at the very least was aware of the 9/11 plot.  So Bush bails out the Banks with no interest in what they did with it,so of course the top exec.still received 1.6 bill in salarys-bonuses and benefits even if poor results were the result of their work.John Thain was the big winner,83 mill for last year from Merrill Lynch,Goldman Sachs CEO 53 mill.,but Cap.One Richard Fairbanks took a mill.dollar hit only getting 17 mill in stocks options after the company had a bad year

The average paid to these guys overall was 2.6 mill for a total of 1.6 BILLION,enough to help the 116 banks that have taken tax money to build up their capital.

Gotta love it,bet Bush ends up on the BODs, of most of these banks,not to mention how many oil co.will put him on their boards.Easy money if you can get it.
