I cannot believe he typed that nonsense. Read the last paragraph if anything. Unbelievable.
No insult to Wallstreet, he seems like a more level headed guy than most of the far left, misinformation bots. But it's time for another week or so off these political forums. I think it's their objective to post the most nonsense possible to drive away any sane person. The majority of the politics forum on Covers is spammed far left drivel and it's a shitshow of a forum that makes streets of San Francisco look like Sesame Street from the 80's. Good luck keeping your sanity reading this stuff.

@Jarrett75 Careful with your personal insults, not much more will be allowed ...
You know why the US was able to be "energy independent" right? Or is it just the usual USA USA USA brain dead reply?
The marginal supply providers are able to get dirt cheap funding because the FED has kept rates down here for so long and that means the big players can gamble (like Conoco and Exxon) and the fringe players were gambling heavily, and when you stop caring about that toxic byproduct entering the water table with Trump in office then frackers did whatever they wanted and nobody stopped them. And yes it was due to Trump being in office...

@THEMUGG
So how do you correlate that the US is purchasing directly from Russia, this logic makes no sense. The world consumes from producers in the global market, that means every country who has any imports is purchasing from the collective, so the US purchases supply from the available markets and Russia is the big player in the global market so unless every single country boycotts Russia than either directly or indirectly you are purchasing from them.
What is the point anyway? Russia purchases tons of products and goods from the US, so is the US corp and US farmer now branded like you do towards Biden because directly they are funding the corrupt Russian agenda?

@wallstreetcappers
"Biden's policies are not why this happened, it is supply and demand only....."
https://www.indexmundi.com/commodities/?commodity=crude-oil&months=60
So a President elected says;
BIDEN shuts down a major oil pipeline project here in the US and restarts a Russian to Germany pipeline project.
Now your telling us, NOTHING BIDEN DID, ALL SUPPLY AND DEMAND.
NOT BUYING IT.

Where in the hell do you come up with these conclusions? "you say you don't support Trump"
There are a lot of things I don't like about Trump in his mannerisms, I would take him 10- fold over Biden and the Democrats ANYDAY!!!!
He surrounded himself with competent people, not color's and pronouns only for the purpose of color and pronouns. Self destructive and it shows.

Trump called Putin's invasion of Ukraine 'genius' and 'very savvy' and referred to him as a 'peacekeeper.

@UNIMAN
You need to make it more difficult, this one is too easy. Which country used this pipeline, what kind of oil was to be shipped, where did it go and where was the end location?
Keystone took Canadian sour crude down to Valero to be refined and Canada has multi year forwards in place with China for the product. Why does Biden need to agree to thousands of miles of pipeline carrying toxic dirty crude just so Valero can get some business? If Canada wants to refine their product then do it in their country, but no they have large restrictions on refining, I wonder why they dont just do the work in their country?
Bad try right there, just so far off the mark its silly.

It's called reducing the import deficit. So we can't export "bad oil", no problem importing it from an absolute monarcy like Suadi Arabia, and Russia, Venezuela.
The argument is ludicrous, IMO. Yes, tar sand oil requires extra energy to extract the oil. THEY ARE DOING IT ANYWAYS, PIPELINE OR NOT. Now oil is shipped by rail increasing chances for a spill than by pipeline.
Advocates in Minnesota and Michigan are trying to shutdown more pipelines.
FACT: The world is still dependent on fossil fuels.
FACT: Biden and Canada have REALLY DONE NOTHING to stop oil production. A lot of talk, token response of shutting down a pipeline not yet in service.
FACT: If they did it would trigger a great depression and invite aggression.
FACT: The world is not yet in position to even remotely think of abandoning fossil fuels.

Here's an idea, let's keep oil prices so low that expensive fraking and tar sand oil extraction are not worth it.
Seems like left wing fringe extremists ( love that term) make oil more expensive and create a demand for nasty oil production. Funny Trudeau hasn't stopped the oil from flowing.

Fact, it is produced in Canada then refine it in Canada especially since NONE OF IT impacts West Texas pricing, the product is committed via agreements with China so the benefit goes to the other contract, but outside of Valero or the other two refineries down there the benefit is zippo and the full risk is borne by American communities this stupid thing tracks through.
I'd even take it a step further, if the product is not produced in this country then it should not be allowed to pass through the US to be refined, especially when the distances are so enormous, that includes rail and any other method. If Canada wants to use our transport system or build a pipeline for 100% their benefit then they should pay massive taxes on the usage because when there is a spill or the pipeline goes down the US citizen is left holding the bag. If Valero wants that business then build a refinery in Alberta.
How does allowing Canada to use our land to refine and ship product to China help reduce our IMPORT DEFICIT?

The massive growth in US oil production — from approximately 5.5 million barrels per day in 2010 to 12 million barrels per day in 2019 — has been in so-called “light oil,” but many US refineries are tailored to run “heavy oil” like what is primarily produced in Canada.
Construction of Keystone XL would cause a short-term tax revenue increase (primarily from sales and use taxes) of $66 million. Once the pipeline is operating, 27 counties will collect an additional $56 million in taxes yearly. The pipeline won't affect property values, according to the government.Jan 24, 2017
We can argue all day. I understand your beliefs, respect your right to them, but of course I disagree.

“The world will hold Russia accountable."

Back to the Ukraine.
This is so freaking sad to watch! Really hope this bites Putin right in the azz.
Yet I also had hoped an agreement could have been reached not to have NATO in the Ukraine. Saying it was "off the table" not the best route, IMO.
This so easily ( through hacking, etc) has a chance to escalate to a huge war.

EU will sanction Putin and Lavrov,
German foreign minister says.
The European Union will sanction Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said Friday.
"We now also list the President of the Republic Mr. Putin and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Lavrov," Baerbock told reporters on her way into the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels on Friday.
"They are responsible for the fact that innocent people die in Ukraine, they are responsible for the fact that the international system is trampled upon and we as Europeans do not accept that.”
On Thursday, the EU announced a raft of sanctions against Russia which European Commission chief Ursula Von der Leyen said would increase Russia’s borrowing costs, raise inflation and “gradually erode Russia’s industrial base.”

Xi Jinping offered his "support" for Russian President Vladimir Putin Friday as Russian troops bombard Ukraine.
According to a readout of a call held between the two allies, Xi expressed the importance of rejecting a "Cold War mentality" and said he takes "seriously and respect[s] the reasonable security concerns of all countries."
The information provided by the Chinese foreign ministry said Putin explained the "historical context of the Ukrainian issue" and claimed, "the United States and NATO have long turned a blind eye to Russia’s legitimate security concerns."

Two Chinese state-owned banks will restrict financing for Russian commodity purchases, suggesting there are limits to Beijing's support for Moscow as the Kremlin confronts severe economic sanctions over its attack of Ukraine.
Seems China is walking the fence, at least their putting some pressure on.
