this will be a great game to watch, but i'm not about to put my money on batch to do it again behind a suspect o-line, nor am i going to put my money against that elite defensive unit.
Unless my research turns something interesting up, I'll watch this one quietly on the side with my money elsewhere, good luck to those who play it.
I AGREE. but if I had to pick a side...I would say Baltimore + 1

hey listen: im not a stat guy and for you to be spitting stats at me AFTER 3 WEEKS is a joke. i'll take 3 good running backs ( McClain, Rice, & McGahee ) over 1 good running back ( Mendenhall ) and recognize the better running game. i dont need to look at numbers and make my head dizzy. i learn by watching players perform in college and how it translates into their nfl performance. it's that simple. in other words, i think 3 capable running backs are better than 1 capable running back. does that make sense to you? or do u need to study another stat book?
What are you talking about? Why would I care what players did in college? This is the pros. I live in the present not the past and it's obvious which team (Pitt) is running better, which player (Mendenhall) is running better and which defense is stopping the run better right now. Just because you know the names Rice, McGahee, and McClain doesn't mean they form a better trio of running backs this season.
The Ravens haven't been able to rush the ball all year and just let the Browns run all over them for 173 yards last week. It's not like the Steelers haven't faced good running backs either. They held Turner to 42 yards and Chris Johnson to 34 yards. And why are you even bringing up McClain? The guy hasn't been used as a real running back in 2 years. He gets 2 carries a game. And McGahee is pretty much only used in short yardage/goal line situations.
Another stat or piece of information you wouldn't care about is that Mendenhall is actually healthy. Ray Rice didn't practice Wednesday and isn't going to be 100%. Against the Steelers D I would worry about that because the only way they're beating them is by throwing it. And the way Flacco's been throwing it this year I wouldn't be worried about that if I was Pittsburgh either.
It's obvious you like the Ravens in this game and that's fine. I just didn't and don't understand your arguments which is why I use stats to back up mine. It makes a little more sense when you can back up what you're saying with numbers

and yeah i was wrong about b-more covering last week. i almost shit my pants... lost the straight bet but won with them on 3 different teasers.
dawg- ur tellin me! kinda led me to believe that this team's offense still has alot left to show.....and i think they lay all their cards on the table and definitely have the better offense than the Ben-less Steelers this Sunday.....and im done arguing with stat guys about who has the better running attack cuzz ive never liked arguing with dipshits who wanna rave about Rashard Mendenhall- the same Mendenhall who entered the league with such a bad case of fumblitis that Hines Ward had to put a football in his locker with a note that said "Anyone on the team that takes this ball away from Rashard will get $100 for Rashard" and then Rashard had to carry that ball with him wherever he went. The same soft ass Rashard Mendenhall who got injured in the 4th game of his rookie season and missed the rest of the season. I'll give the kid kudos for last year's performance, but i'm not gonna certify him as a solid back for years to come. so like i said before- i'll take 3 capable backs ( aged 23, 25, & 28 ) over 1 capable back at age of 23 with 23 games of experience anyday.....

joedaddy, don't get caught up in the context. Take a look at the content. There's a lot of good information in stalker's posts.

there's good info / bad info throughout this entire thread. im simply not a stat guy. if it's a long trend of some sort that is hard to ignore, then i may give it some thought. other than that, stats are just numbers to me. ive seen low stat guys win the super bowl. stats dont explain situations in game time. but hey- stick to ur stats and to each their own.....blah blah blah. i'll keep up with stalker's posts and the rest of everyone's posts out of curiosity then decipher what i feel is necessary.

How much faith can one have in Flacco if he's turning the ball over so much this year. It's obvious something is wrong with the Ravens running game because Flacco only has Bolden as his go to guy. If Pitt shut's him down who will step up in his place against one if not the best defense in the league at home. The so called expert's had Pitt losing 3 games before Big Ben returns to action. Pitt is playing football with a chip on their shoulders because of this. Just like the great Ravens teams in the past the defense is the determining factor between wins and loses. I'll take momentum over stats any day especially when your at home. However, I think Pitt will hit the wall as soon as Big Ben returns because his teammates know he's a ego maniac!!! Big Ben will look like Brett Favre and the defense will begin to resent him if he start's out turning the ball over just like Brett. I'm going to bet on Pitt until Brett, I mean Ben comes back. No stats needed

I love the negativity on Pitt. Reality says Balt should beat us, but my gut says Pitt, I will not throw any fancy stats out, but I see everybody not seeing Pitt @ 4-0. I see Pitt 4-0 however, I will not have my bank roll on this. I will be at the game tomorrow and there is rain scheduled all day. This could be a plus for Balt, But, I will still say Pitt 17-13. Good Luck to all, Especially my man Col. Jim!!!

pitt wont beat the ravens. if anything the ravens will beat themselfs.
the right side of the ravens Oline is what scares me with yanda playing tackle instead of guard. flacco will get sacked a few times. but if the ravens dont turn the ball over more then 1 time they`ll win. charlie batch will not score too much if at all on the ravens. i beleave that the ravens will win the feild postion battle n make more plays on offence then pitt.

i'll admit i was on the wrong side last week as i picked the Bucs over the Steelers, and that was clearly over by the 2nd quarter. but i live to learn, and i learned not to bet against a superbowl caliber defense with a young inexperienced squad. guess i was getting too hyped with josh freeman, but i still like the kid and think he will be around for awhile.
but this game is much different and baltimore is improved on offense while the steelers are having to start batch. i can't see Ravens losing this game. they both have great defense, but i think the edge goes to baltimore with a much better running attack. as long as Flacco doesnt throw a pick, i have a feeling the Ravens can force a few turnovers. im still not sold on Mendenhall nor am i entirely sold on the Steelers offense. i do like Mike Wallace tho.
Bet Ravens. Solid Tease. Leave that total alone.
