I've been struggling with how to read this line since it came out. I agree that the line may be trying to induce betting on the hot team. On the other hand, I would venture to say that with their enormous fan base, there is the potential for a lot of Cowboys backers to jump at the chance of getting ANY points, even more so when it's a FG.
I also think that too many people are picking Dallas just because they can't go 0-3, and that they have to start playing well sometime. If Dallas gets an early lead and can build some confidence, it may turn their season around. If Houston scores early and then gets a turnover or quick 3 and out, you may see a silver and blue implosion.
Just some of my thoughts on the game:
1. Houston's secondary is too young to hope for a lockdown game against three big, athletic wr's and a great TE. On the other hand, I think Mario is coming into his own and may be able to pick up some of the slack just by pressuring Romo.
2. We all know AJ can't be covered, he will get his regardless. I think Schaub will take some shots downfield with Jacoby Jones, to set up the crossing routes for Kevin Walter and AJ.
3. Houston losing their starting LT hurts, especially for the running game. Watch for Houston to continue running their play-action bootlegs AWAY from Demarcus Ware.
4. If Buehler misses an early FG, if think a close game will be a nightmare for Dallas and maybe even for Houston too, assuming Dallas starts going for it on 4th down. Houston has a tendency to play great on 1st and 2nd down, and give up a big play on 3rd or 4th down.
5. Arian Foster will either run for 150+ yards or will be bottled up to less than 50 yards.
I am a Texans fan and I am staying away from this game, I don't even like the O/U, too many unknowns with Dallas. Just for giggles I will predict the Texans 27 Cowboys 23, with Vegas hoping for a lot of money riding the Cowboys and the points.
