I'm sitting on this number for a minute, then hoppin' on the boys. BIG time Rivalry game and i see this one being a ball control affair with the giants being a team that often times play games within a touchdown.

Giants get running game back on track which opens long balls to Burress and
Hixon. Dallas is still undisciplined. Brad Johnson had 122 yards
passing. He will be wearing his track shoes Sunday. Kiwanuka had 3 sacks, he smells blood in the water, and he likes it. I think he will lead the NYGs in sacks by season's end. Dallas has too stars who do not play as a team, look for finger pointing Sunday. Ware is one dimensional, Tuck is who he wants to be when he grows up. If NY gets big lead, Dallas will pass 40 times, which is not good for Johnson's back. I see alot of turnovers for a Dallas team who will press for a win. I think the spread is NY -6.0 by game time it maybe -4.0, Cowbilly fans get paid Friday and they believe.

spytheweb, are you retarted? Ware is 1 dimesnsional you have to be kidding me, he is one of the best in the league at his position. I can see by your avatar you are a Giants fan so it's no wonder you make rediculous comments. I am not saying Dallas will win this game but they did what they had to against a better Tampa defense. Oh yea and I guess Eli is a passing machine right? Most of the time he looks like a deer in headlights. The way I see it now, 9.5 is to many points for the Giants to be giving.

Sounds like a QB controversy is brewing in big D. I guess they are trying to figure out which QB can take more hits by the Giants D
Giants will win. Weather maybe a factor by game time that will favor the Giants. G-Men will correct a lot of mistakes they made at Pitt and improve their red zone efficiency.
They'll run the ball better and get the ball to Plax more.
Hope the line gets pushed down so I'll wait til closer til game time before I lay my

<<<<<<<<< Note to Earthlings: Back-up quarterbacks have teams around them, in this case a large offensive line against defensive line that lacks the depth it enjoyed the last several times vs. Cowboys. How many Pittsburgh offensive skill players were missing on Sunday? DALLAS, +7.

I typically never take the Giants in large spreads b/c they usually play down to their competition (see Cincy, Browns, etc) not just this year but in the last couple of years under Coughlin.
This game, however I think Dallas turns the ball over too many times, especially if they are down early and the Giants roll in a blowout.
Peppy222 - don't forget how much of a "quarterback-centric" league this has become, look at New England, Minnesota, and the Cowboys for examples.
I think the Giants D-Line will be ok vs the Cowboys O-Line, which is one of the keys to this game. I have noticed that when the Giants front four fails to get pressue, they get eaten up (Browns game they were non-existant and Aaron Ross looked like a fool) - with that said Tuck/Kiwi/Cofield/Robbins will get it done, and if you want to talk depth - Dave Tollefson is having himself a nice start to this year as a guy that was needed to step up after the Osi injury.
Giants will be able to run the ball effectively vs. the Cowboys this week which will be a big deal and will keep the Giants d off the field.

* NE w/Cassel: 41-3 vs. Denver. The team wins easily. * SEA w/Wallace: 34-13 at SF. The team wins easily. MIN w/Frerrote: Just another team with him or without him. Was -14 vs. Lions, no cover. Was +3.5 at New Orleans, covered. Lose/no cover at TEN, same result as every other opponent of TEN this season. Vikings, a neutral example for these purposes, but a team you want as plus-one-score underdog because of overall physical talent on the team, avoid as TD favorite due to overall limitations.
* Dallas +5 in Romo's first-ever start: 37-21 at Carolina.
* New England +11 in Brady's first-ever career start: 44-13 vs. Peyton Manning, 10-1 ATS run into a Super Bowl win.
On Sunday, 70,000 NYG fans will be mumbling, "I can't believe we struggled to beat (or lose to) the Cowboys with Brad Johnson." It's more than Brad Johnson lining up on the other side. The 70,000 fans, and more bettors, forget to "act like they've been there before." ...... (P.S. Nice avatar above!)

Evaluating quarterbacks at surface-scratching level would not have enabled anyone to play KC Chiefs +14 at NY Jets. Third-string Tyler Thigpen, vs. Hall of Famer Brett Favre. That is the diversion perceived by the "public" that watches sports on TV, not the reality about to unfold on game-day, which is the task that every bettor should be concerned with. Stay within the framework of the team match-ups, remove "quarterback-centric" from the equation because it is incorrect (more likely a bad seed planted by the media that unfortunately takes root), and evaluate the match-ups in relation to the point-spread. Also, realize that the worst coach is 100 times more qualified to be there than the smartest bettor, and think about what you would be doing if you were the coaches.

Ifs can never be proven. There are no "If standings," or bets won based on "Ifs" that are not there. Stay focused on what is. The world attempted to bury Eli Manning after a few weeks last season. It was the easy thing to do. It made them feel good. The world is shoveling dirt on Dallas now. It's the easy thing to do. It makes people feel good. Generally, when people take things to make themselves feel good, it distorts reality. An over-the-counter box of Dallas = Dead pills has been offered, cheap. People are lining up to buy it and swallow it because they heard it's a cool feeling. But the crash is a bummer. (This is all on a game-by-game "now" betting basis, not necessarily concerned with who will eventually win the NFC East or the NFC or the Super Bowl.)

Wow did you somehow just make an analogy from Football to Drugs? My girlfriend makes analogies comparing the two all the time
Lets simplify this a little bit - Dallas lost to StL and Arizona and barely slipped by the Bucs at home...they aren't "Dead" but without any media scrutiny its easy to see this team AT THIS JUNCTURE OF THE SEASON is not the team that looked capable of winning12 games...they are just a bunch of skilled people playing football - and not a well coached UNIT - I sometimes think I am smarter than Wade Phillips, i just don't spend 70 hours per week studying the stuff!!!

Another football to drugs analogy: The Giants were +3 in TO Ratio vs. SF and +4 in TO Ratio vs. PIT, covered by only slivers. The actual margin vs. PIT was 9.5 points vs. spread, but it was triggered late by sudden, random safety and subsequent field position gained.
Are the Giants now turnover junkies who need to constantly feed their hunger for turnovers in order to cover spreads? If they do not get those turnovers, will they get the shakes and the sweats and become desperate and behave erratically? With Romo, Dallas was turning it over. With Brad Johnson, so far, 0 turnovers for Dallas.
Jason Whiten is hurt for Dallas. Dallas has a Kevin Boss. The world just don't know his name... yet. Exit Shockey, enter Boss. Giants +3 win outright at Tampa, Giants +7 win outright at Dallas, Giants +7 win outright at Green Bay, Giants +12 win outright vs. NE in Super Bowl. Perception vs. reality were two different things. Now it's Dallas on the +7 to +9 end. Is perception same as reality? Or will it be different, like it was only 10 games ago? By the way, there might be sides destined to cover by larger margins than either Dallas or NY this Sunday. Just maintaining some big-picture perspective.

I believe NO favorite has covered this year when the spread was over 10 points - and a couple off the top of my head lost (Giants vs. Browns, Dallas vs StL, NE in the first game) - I haven't looked to back this up so I cannot state this as a fact, but its close to it.
Turnovers - Giants were also a top 5 defense in the league before the Pitt game with the fewest takeaways so I can't yet call them TO junkies.
Brad Johnson hasn't had to play from behind...those offenses are nowhere near as potent as the Giants, if they go up 10-0 I can just about guarantee we'll se some turnovers.

Giants covered -11 vs. SF, which might be the only W in what might be 1-10 record, but those are all other games with other match-ups and other game-plans and other funny bounces, with no real connection to this game. The time to take advantage of double-digit favorites failure to cover spreads this season is NEXT week, when San Diego lays -17 vs. KC and beats the Chiefs 42-7. The "trendy" people will be all over KC because of the fake trend, and because they have seen the Chargers lose lately ("let's pile on!"), and because KC covered +17 at NE and +14 at NYJ ("let's join the bandwagon!"). No way Chiefs stay close at SD. Up-the-sleeve ammo for next week.

Common line for Dal-NY at moment is 8.

BTW: DAL trailed TB 0-6 at the end of 1Q. TB came into the game logging the most offensive plays per game in the NFL (66), got 65 snaps. DAL did something to minimize those snaps.

I think that IF.... TONY ROMO was playing... they would still be getting points on the road....
I would say the line jumps out to 9 because of his absense (obviously).....
also, the cross country traveling has been paying dividends to East Coast teams.... I don't see a difference here.....
Dallas D is soft.... Jacobs will pound them.... especially after playing Pitt...
I see the Giants getting out to a early lead and not looking back.....
They have been playing very well at home this year.... beating seattle, sf, cincy (close one), and Washington..... I don't see a difference....
now will they cover... hmmm.... it is FREEZING outside right now... I'm located on Long Island and weather shows a cold Sunday.... if it's raining and sleeting and nyweathering then I am laying off the game...
But under mild conditions I say the Giants Cover at home.....
BUT>>>>>> not one NFC East favorite has covered against another NFC East favorite this year....
BUT Brad Johson is going to have PROBLEMS against this pass rush....
I can see a margin similar to the MNF game.... somewhere between 10 points and a touchdown.....
Giants are TOO balanced....
Oh and I'm a JET fan just in case anyone thinks I'm biased cause I'm from NY

spytheweb, are you retarted? Ware is 1 dimesnsional you have to be kidding me, he is one of the best in the league at his position. Where does Ware line up other than the left end or right end and rushes from the outside? When he lines up on the center's nose or inside the tackles, we can talk. Tuck does it all.
I was hoping the NYGs would be underdogs for this game. If Eli is a deer in headlights? then Brad Johnson will be a bug on a expressway windshield. TB should have won that game.
Eli does not have to be a passing machine, just ride Jacobs while he runs over whatever DBs Dallas has left. Then pitch a few to Burress or Hixon after run fakes.
Did what they had to against the TB defense? 122 passing yards? Witten has a cracked rib, boy, i hope he plays. Cowbillies has Redskins the following week. I hope this one ain't pretty.

Large line means what? Dallas is 10th in rushing, they don't block very well. The Giants are #1 in rushing the ball, with a line that is not so big, they have skill instead of size. Every team has players missing, that's the luck of the draw. Dallas may cover or it will be a Giant blowout.

Thing about Dallas this Parcells' team, parcells is gone, and so is the discipline. Dallas is the NFL's darlings, picked to go to the SB, like last year. 13 probowlers, too many stars. This team has been hyped all year. They don't have discipline and no heart. Romo playing or not. The reason Parcells left is because Jerry wanted TO more than he wanted BP. Who's running the show there anyway? Besides, the season is just practice for the playoffs, if you're just winning by a hair, you're not going to make it.
