I was hoping the NYGs would be underdogs for this game. If Eli is a deer in headlights? then Brad Johnson will be a bug on a  expressway windshield. TB should have won that game.

Cowboys 0-6 ATS vs. the NFC East is low priority. The Steelers were 9-0 home vs. NFC teams prior to the Giants. These are coincidences and/or history, not trends. The team on the other side of the ball would laugh at this kind of fact. "Oh, I guess we shouldn't show up. Please put us down for an "L" because teams are 0-6 ATS or 0-9 in this situation. We can't compete against that. We shouldn't even waste the gas for this trip."
 
Last year, nobody was sitting home thinking, "Okay now, the Cowboys are 0-2 ATS vs. the NFC East so I will bet against them...now they're 0-3 ATS vs. the NFC East so I will bet against them...now they're 0-4 ATS vs. the NFC East so I will bet against them...now they're 0-5 ATS vs. the NFC East so I will bet against them."  It doesn't work that way.

I feel like this is a trap game     The Giants should win by at least 7 points but Big D did beat TB last week and TB is a very underrated TEAM. 9.5 points in a divisional game is too many points but i really like the G-Men here. 

Lay the points nobody can cover Plaxico and Witten has busted ribs Big D is DONE and the Giants

That, and $2.00, buys a one-way subway token in NYC. The season is halfway done. The equator has been reached. The Southern Hemisphere is now being negotiated. Everything out of whack reverts towards the mean as the expedition moves farther away from the equator. <<<<<<<<<<<< That's how it goes in my book. Back-fitting is easy. Projecting the future is harder. Anyone  who might be 9-0 on that notion (the list is very short!) would now be inclined to say: I've made my money, let the suckers jump in" because if they were smart enough to be so efficiently proactive at the outset, then they are smart enough to opt out when way ahead and already targeting something else.

Peppy you make some good points but now you are just getting rediculous.  I think some trends are absolutely retarded, such as something that would say team x is 11-0 ATS against Team Y in the last 11 years.  And i agree with you, those teams and days were different than this Sunday...

 

...HOWEVER, a trend that says "Western teams are a combined 0-9 when they play in the Eastern Time Zone" really has substance.  It is telling us that it has become very hard for teams to travel east and play - its not saying that it is impossible, but it is telling us that it is a very difficult game for teams travelling east.

If a talented professional salesman who lives in Dallas, Central Time Zone, has an important sales call to make in NJ at 4:15 pm, and he flies in on the day before the meeting to New Jersey in the Eastern Time Zone, losing one hour, gets a good night's sleep, is prepared well, makes his pitch yet doesn't make the sale, he will not blame it on "the travel." It is something about the product which didn't match up well against the prospective buyer. 

If the football players on these teams have been out all night drinking, doing drugs and having sex with womens in the avatar (!) then there might be a correlation. If the planes or the hotel food was being filled with poison gases, there might be a correlation. But nobody was floating this nonsense around when the San Diego Chargers went to New England in 2005 and won 41-17, or 31-26 at NY Jets later that season, or 23-17 at Washington later that season, or 26-17 at Indy, ending Colts 13-0 SU start later that season. Or, if they were floating it around, they certainly weren't winning in those instances. What 0-9 is telling anyone is that the last nine teams lost. That's all. Anything else being interpreted is just "hearing voices." Winning for the wrong reasons will eventually lead to losing for the same reasons.

^^^ That would be a much better reason for NYG -8.5 than any kind of West to East travel thing involving 9 other games.

Seems like a lot of points for an NFC East match up, but the Cowboys Stink and they're coming off a win. Giants should roll in this one. Can't touch it.

Cardinals --- Because they had been in Washington for the prior game and didn't want to make two 3,000-mile round-trip flights in a week, adding up to 12,000 miles and 20 hours in the air (5 hours each way). If they had made two round trips, then 10% of their hours that week would have been spent in the air and they'd have been jerked from PDT to EDT twice in that span.
 
There is plenty of validity to the body-clock thing. Some of us hit upon it in 1995 or so and leveraged it very well, but eventually got burned when getting euphoric with it, considering it as the #1 priority and ignoring other significant factors. It's easy to get carried away with a "phenomenon." But the talent and match-ups involved, the importance of the game for either side, and the point-spread, must always be factored in. This particular game, DAL at NYG, isn't even in this category because DAL is CDT, not PDT, and the game is 4:15 pm EDT.

I notice that nobody in this thread has even mentioned what Marion Barber could potentially bring against the Giants this weekend - and Brad Johnson makes fewer mistakes than Tony Romo. I'm not saying the Cowgirls win, but, I think it'll be a lot closer than what people think..... Especially at 9.5 - Good Luck people!!

Eli does not have to be a passing machine, just ride Jacobs while he runs over whatever DBs Dallas has left. Then pitch a few to Burress or Hixon after run fakes.

Did what they had to against the TB defense? 122 passing yards? Witten has a cracked rib, boy, i hope he plays. Cowbillies has Redskins the following week. I hope this one ain't pretty.

Tampa should have won?  just like Pitt should have beat your Giants. all that matters is a win now matter how it comes. I'll bet you Barber rushes for more yards than Jacobs. This game is going to be closer than most think,Oh and by the way the Giants are not as Balanced as everone thinks. They have played 1 good team so far this year(Pitt), we will see what happens in the next few weeks for the G-men.
