I didnt read ALL the posts so forgive me if I'm repeating but did ANYONE see the first game between SF and the Gmen this year?? It was a close game that the Giants let slip away. SF is a solid team but reminder...in that FIRST game the Giants were without Bradshaw, Nicks, Umenyiora, Manningham, and Bolley left the game in the 2nd qtr I believe. Thats almost all the Giaats playmakers on BOTH sides off the ball!!!

The Giants are healthy and playing in sync..the 49ers gave up over 500 yards in offense to the Saints last week..no reason why the Giants cant put up good offensive numbers and hold Alex Smith and Frank Gore to minimum points and yardage especially after the way they handled Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay. SF has MAJOR problems in the red zone which is why they lead the NFL in FG attempts.

The weather may be a factor but I still see the Giants winning by a TD or more...

Alex Smith looked pretty good in the redzone last week....

Overall he had 3 passing tds and 1 rushing td.....


Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay came out FLAT last week.... that wasn't the 15-1 Green Bay team we are used to watching....

and again, neither the Falcons or Packers play defense...

Hey Easy Pics- You always tell me I should be more modest. I wouldn't mind hearing an explanation for this exchange to BreakaBookie " You should know (as posted) how I $moked the books during the playoffs in the last 3 years via football-baseball n' hockey".  Such- modesty S__t!  Nobody posting on these threads could be possibilty as great as thee! Hell- my accomplishments last year of  winning "Irisheyes Playoff Pool", as well as finishing 85 th in Covers NFL Playoff pool (out of over 5000 players) palls in comparison!  My position on this game remain unchanged-

You bring up some very valid points here Mellowman. The 49 ers have slipped a little bit on the "D".  However, the last contest was against the high flying Saints, who were held off the board till late into the 3rd qtr. Still the Niners were able to rack up 36 of their own. This is the same Saints team that beat the Giants 49-24 in week # 12.  Certainly, the G-Men have picked it up and gained late season momentum here. If you'll recall the Niners beat the Giants 27-20.   Still  SF is a showing much more with the league's best defense, better special teams, and a solid (but unspectacular) offense. I think Jim Harbaugh after only season has done a great job. Could honesty see a San Fran- NE SB.

Like Janet Jackson says, what have you don't lately? SF gave up 32 points (not 14) in their last home game, that's 10 points more than the NYGs have in their last 2 games. It's a new season and the NYGs are 2-0.

How many big pressure games have the 49ers been in? Watch for Hardball to make a few coaching mistakes, to try to pull off a few trick plays. The 49ers beat the Giants, scored after Manningham stopped his route and Eli was intercepted. If you watch that game again, the Giants had no trouble moving the ball.

But i think the biggest plus for the Giants is having Bradshaw playing, he didn't play against the 49ers last time. Like Brain Urlacher say to Bradshaw, why do you run so angry?

So people think that the weather will help SF? The Giants play on the east coast in weather, they are not from the south or a dome team. They just came away from a 20 degree game, anything in SF will be like playing in Miami.

I  hope like hell, they won't being chanting CRUZZZZ!   Yes - great pass defense is not exactly the Niners forte. However, while they  give up the occassional big pass play, most time their aggressive play leads to picks. And we all know how well Manning throws those! Plus Mr. Manning won't have the luxury of sitting back there all day in the pocket. Of course the officials & home crowd will help SF. That's why it's called home field advantage. And statistically ,SF has a rather large one. I think in the end it'll be Manning & Coughlin who do the folding under pressure.  Anyway- good luck- this will be their last game this season!

Im starting to become very nervous with my OVER 42 bet.

I slammed it on Tuesday assuming the weather would be clear. Afterall, its California. Hot and sunny every day, right? I guessed wrong. I hope all you lizards on the West Coast are rain protected.

Over an inch of rain is expected in the next 24 hours, with scattered rain through the weekend. My question is, how does Candlestick's grass hold up? Will the grass be soaked come gametime? Proper drainage? is there anyway to know if the field goes to shit? Will the NYG pass rush have enough footing to get to the QB ?

If the field is garbage after a few series then i have no choice but to...

Its looking like it may be hedge time!

49rs have been the better team all year. And they already beat the Giants once this year at home. The 49ers shut down New Orleans' offense for the majority of last week's game. They are going to be able to contain the Giants in this situation here too. The sharps in Vegas agree with me. This line opened with the Niners at -1.0 and it has been bet all the way up to -2.5 even though there are actually more bettors putting down money on New York. The Giants have not faced a team with a defense like this yet this year and I think that Eli Manning is not going to be able to handle the pressure the 49ers can put on them. The home team wins in the Conference Championships almost 70 percent of the time in NFL history. I think that having to fly across the country after their big upset over the Packers is going to put the Giants at a big disadvantage. And I think that this San Francisco team is going to feed off its home crowd just like they did last week. The home team is 5-2 in the last seven NFC Championship Games and most of those wins were by blowouts. San Francisco has been waiting for the 49ers to get back to this point for a long time. Now they are going to watch this franchise get back to the Super Bowl! The Niners win this one.NEXT STOP IND

Giants this and Giants that!Hey, what about the home team 49ers who are coming off a big win against the Saints. The 49ers in my eyes are still getting no respect as if this game was being played in New York the Giants would be around 4-5 point favorite. I'm still shocked to see this number not move to SF -3 so with this game still producing value we are on the 49ers band wagon. San Francisco is 12-2 ATS as a favorite and the 49ers are also 9-0 ATS as a home favorite

Vue good too see you furious!!!!  I think im changing to over for the large!!!!  because A. unders suck and B. I  think we might see an ot game here adding some more tricky points. Giants will still get broke however.

Yeah.. just like how you almost hear the crowd chanted "TEBOWWWWWW" in the NE vs DEN game

YES  and u are a monumental asshole----Gb got expossed against the chiefs, and the g-men hade this very same GB team on the ropes at home, SdD could have won to GB if  Rivers wasnt in such a melt down,15-1 is impressive as a  record, but GB has some suspect wins, to say not impressive escapes, G-men just followed the KC blue print, im SF could keep pace with the AINTS , they will do so with this Gmen offense,  you just count giants running game out, SF will force mannig to throw, SF offense isnt impressive and lets be honest ELI and ALEX will be runnig for their lives the whole game , but Sf has the edge on special teams, Deffense and running game,

You're right...my bad...my point being the Giants were NOT at full strength in week 10. They are NOW..when it counts!!! I wouldnt put my money on Alex Smith having a repeat performance of his CAREER game last week.

I love how all of a sudden Alex Smith is the next Joe Montana...he had one good game last week and and lost his starting job last year to Shaun Hill...I just dont see where all of this faith is coming fom. IF the 49ers win it will be because of their defense and special teams...but I still like the Giants +2.5

Rushing attack...edge: GMen, Gore hasnt had a 100 yard game in how long.  BRING ON BIG BLUE'S 2 HEADED MONSTER peaking at the right time

WR...edge: Big Blue...with Cruz in the slot and Manningham and Nix on the outside, he will demand the double team, and open up single coverage for Nix & Manningham.  Both of which are stellar.  and because Cruz is so dangerous, and will demand the double team , means he is that good

Update: Ginn is either gonna play as a gimp or not play at all. THIS WILL AFFECT FIELD POSITION TREMENDOUSLY.  he averages about 13 yards a return on punts...startign Alex Smith from the 25 or the 40 is a big difference vs Blues D Line.

Alex smith over achieved last week...i dont thik he had over 300 yards all year... and 5 turnovers usually helps.

However, i know the conditions and the track will be rough, but the gmen are built for this weather and rough terrain. 

Also the giants have not allowed more then like 6 saks in the last 4-5 games, its something really close to that.

Also, 49ers are either missing are playing with a significantly banged up TE and i think its a linebacker

experience...edge: Gmen,  especially on the road

yes, the homefield & weather will help the 49ers stay in it and maybe keep it close, but...

the last game went into the 4th 12-13 and the game still went over. People think the rain will help the 49ers, why? I having been watching Cruz and he runs patterns like Steve Smith did, only faster, DBs don't know which way he's going to turn. If the DB falls down that it's it. Same for Nicks's quick throw, spread out and he's one on one.

Talk about pass rushes, if NY's can't get there do you think the 49ers will? If Eli's back there with a half a day to throw he won't have a problem hooking up with a WR and deep too. Can Smith? Who is the 49ers # one WR?

Most think this game will be close, i don't. Akers sets FG record, what does that tell you? 49ers are not scoring TDs. First 4 scores vs. Giants were FGs. Eli hit his 10 passes. Gore had 4 100yard games in a row before he played the Giants, vs. the Giants he had none. 9ers, don't fall behind.

 You mean like Gore's running game vs. Giants was counted out when he ran for zero yards? After running for 100 yards each in his last 4 games.

Alex should be running, he was the most sacked QB in the NFL on a team that does not pass that much, how is that even possible?

"Alex was sacked 44 times, tops in the NFL, despite the fact he's #28 in pass attempts"

I like your favts and analysis SPY..the 49ers are a very good team but Smith had a career day last week with 5 turnovers to help his cause.  Gore is banged up (as usual) and the 3-5 step drop passes that are 90% of SF offense won't work all game vs Giants front athleticism. That being said I don't have total faith in Eli's decision making and I'm a season ticket holder!!!...I think it's a close game and could go either way...just hoping it goes Giants way
