Giants haven't faced a defense like this since the last time they played the 49ers....  49ers are the only team that knows how to play defense in the NFC.....

NFC has the offense..... AFC has the defense (and Brady lol) this year....

Eli won't get alllllll day to throw like he did last week.....



Huge special teams advantage here.... with respects to all aspects of the special teams game..... kicking, kicking fgs.... returning.... coverage....

huge defensive advantage to the 49ers and 12th man home crowd.... defensive front unlike any the Giants have seen this year..... corners that play press coverage vs. the small gmen receivers (Nicks being the exception)..... corners and safeties that put real nfl hits on recievers and running backs causing fumbles (tell me manningham isn't good for a fumble?)

on the other side of the ball Alex Smith is not going to let loose.... they are going to have a conservative run game which is the only way to beat the Gmen's front line..... runs to the outside.... Alex Smith will be asked to manage the game.....

Giants facing a defensive front unlike any they have seen this year?? With the excerption of the time they met already in San. Fran.and the Giants were without Bradshaw(San. Fran. won that game 27-20). Thats like taking Gore away from the 49ers and seeing how San. Fran. plays. My lean is on the Giants but no official play yet. Thinking of teasing the Giants up to +8.5 cause unless Giants lay an egg they are playing good ball right now and should be able to keep this game within 7 or win it outright.

San Fran won their super bowl last week. Yes, alex smith proved a lot. But can you depend on that two games in a row ?  I can't. To be honest, I think the Gmen have the better defense going into this game. San Fran passing D isn't all that great. And Gmen defense has been stopping the run! Putting pressure on the quarterback. My money is on Eli over Smith. Eli has been there before and I think the pressure will mount for Alex. I don't see him coming out this time. Everyone talks about the traveling to S.F but Eli and the giants have proved many times that playing on the road is actually better for this team than having the media pressure and all that in New York so they like playing on the road and being underdogs. Feels kinda like the same 4 years ago huh.  Giants will stop Gore and force Smith to throw 42 times like he did against the Saints. I think that will be giants gameplan, which it should be, force Alex smith to win it again, and I don't think he will be up for the challenge. Yes he did it against the saints but their defense just wasn't there like the Gmens will be come Sunday. The talent on both sides of the ball favor the Gmen. Cruz, Nicks, Manningham, Brashaw and Jacobs with Eli vs. smith, Gore, and who? Crabtree and VDavis ? C'mon now that's not even close and the defensive side! Well I'll take the Gmen defensive line over anyone in S.F.  Too much pressure for Alex smith to handle. JPP, Osi, an Tuck will be the biggest reason why we will see a rematch in the Super Bowl.  It's all about momentum come playoff time and history showed that with them years ago  steelers did the same thing sneakin in the playoffs wen they won four road games an then beating Arizona. Green bay just did it last year sneakin in the playoffs as well with the week 17 win just to get in. It happens all the time.    Before you invest your hard earned cash,let's examine the teams: The Giants are 9-7 vs the Niners at 13-3.  If you can recall up until the last 2 weeks, neither Philly, Dallas, or NY wanted to sew the division up. I hope you can also recall the last 9-7 team to get,let alone dream of winning a SB. I can't and neither can you!  For the record: the G-men lost to Washington (twice!) , Seattle (for God's sake!) at home,barely beat Buffalo, and struggled against a winless Miami team, then beat a NE team that long ago forgot how to play defense. Follow that performance up with a 4 game losing streak,scraped by Dallas by 3 ,and then returned home to be smack down by the Deadskins 23-10 (wk#15). On the weight, of 2 victories, against the pathetic Jets and again the "Boys- they're in the playoffsAdd  2 more games 1) against a mediocre Falcon team on the road & 2) against GB that's has been playing terrible "D", and lo and behold they arrive at Candlestick on Sunday to challenge for the conference title. Is it any wonder, why Manning looks so invincible after beating up on a bunch of patsies? And now SF: Beat Seattle twice, Philly, Washington,the Giants, Detroit,Pittsburgh, & finally New Orleans. They split with Arizona losing a close game 21-19, lost to Dallas (in OT). Their worst beating was by 10 points to Baltimore. ANd we know what they're playing for this weekend! I rest my case. Is it a bet on the league's best defense, or a "snowball in hell's chance" on the mediocre Giants. I leave that up to you. A team with late momentum against suspect opponents, or one with a proven record.

I see the total keeps dropping..  I am really liking the Under here.  Will be tough sledding against these two defenses. I see sacks, i see a couple of goal line stands, settling for FG's.  Both teams will want to try to pound the ball to establish the line of scrimmage.  Lots of punts..  Clock runs quickly in these type of games.  Under 42 sounds like a good bet.

20-16 type of game.  And Eli is the edge to give the Giants the win!

IMO Season records become quite irrelevant when cappin' divisonal championship games n' Super Bowls.

I'm an SF homer so read my post with consideration. What a great game that was SF vs NO!!!  Like last week, I will not touch any game that SF plays because being a homer, my favoritism might make my thinking cloudy.

I agree.... my playoff record from last year was horrible..... 2 years ago.... atroucious lol.... it kept me gunshy this year and I didn't make as much as I should've after going 4-0 ATS round 1..... I would be in a solid position if the Ravens covered last week, but I find myself even after the Packers debacle last week.... but I had a career regular season, after a career regular season from last year as well....

I am definitely getting better at capping after roughly 9 years and I definitley have many covers posters here to give credit too...

back to the game...

rain is down at an expected 40% but the field will have terrible conditions...

this favors SF as the more explosive team losses speed.... 9ers will be pounding the rock and relying on their far superior special teams to keep Alex Smith in his comfort zone.... you definitely won't see Smith throwing the ball 42 times.... this will be a controlled game.... the pass rush will be neutralized if SF can establish the run game.... last meeting the 49ers didn't run the ball much at all as the gameplan was to suprise the Giants defense by putting the ball in Alex Smith's hands especially on first down.... that will not happne this week....

last week vs. the Saints SF experience record setitng temperatures and the outside conditions that everyone talks about were a non-factor..... that came is was the closest to DOME temperatures as possible, so I don't buy this idea that the Saints played poorly because they were on the road and not an outdoor team..... the Saints played great.... and the only reason why they didn't beat the 9ers was because of TURNOVERS.... there is no correlation between this game and the Seattle game last year....

and by turnovers I don't meen Kuhn throwing the ball while he's running through tackles....

those were real turnovers caused by real hits.... and a rediculous interception

SF has one of the best defenses in the league.... they have 6 pro-bowl defenders....1 at 2 positions which is the first time in NFL history.... Patrick Willis is not even the best linebacker on the team!....

Give me 1 defense that the Giants have played that's as good as this bunch?

I was just watching the replay of last weeks Giants Packers game.... that defense played atroucious and Eli Manning had ALLLLL DAY to throw..... there's no way that is happening this week with aldon and justin smith....

Giants matchup well against teams that don't establish the run i.e. New England, Green Bay, Dallas.....

this is going to be a messy game and the team who has less turnover will win this.... my money is on SF....

oh yeah, add a cross-country flight to the equation!

not a hockey fan but have been rooting for the Rangers the last couple of years and this year I'm on the bandwagon.... I live on Long Island out east, commute 2 hrs/day... work downtown Broadway by wall street across from zuccoti park and the 99% LOL.... I'd be open to meeting for a drink any Ranger game during the week that I'm in NYC.... would be a good time exchanging capping stories lol
