Ok. This is obviously going to be the number 1 talked about game of the week once again, as all of the Pats games have been. So just to be nice and break it down how it should be broken down, I am going to take everyone's points so far and line them up. Just so you know, I live in New England and have seen every minute of every game. I have also unfortunately seen a couple of Redskins games this year (philly, miami, green bay, and end of arizona).
1. Bookies don't know how the hell to list the Pats. Well no crap that's because they just can't fathom them being 23 points favorites, which is what they should probably have been against Miami and Cleveland and probably Washington. Everyone and their grandmother has made money on this team this year. You take the Pats and the over this year....YOU ARE 14-0!!!
2. Pats gave up 28 points in the 2nd half to crappy Dolphins team. They didn't want to play. You could see it plain as day that if they really wanted to play hard, they could have beat this team 77-0. Just look at how they put in Cassel, he threw and INT, Brady comes in all pissed off like he had to get off his comforter and put out the fire.
3. Washington is a "smash-mouth" team and they will give the Pats problems. No. Washington has not beat a single good team that had a good defense. They have beat Arizona, Detroit, Philly, and Miami. Total record of 9-17. Lost to Green Bay and the Giants. Total record of 10-3. Hmmm. Offense is weak at best. Clinton Portis is only averaging 67 yards per game. The team is ranked 25th in Yards Per Game. They will try and run the ball, and the Pats will laugh themselves to the tune of 3 and out every time.
4. Washington's Defense will be able to slow down the passing game. Once again, NO!. What have we seen in every Pats game so far...Brady drops back and hangs out in the pocket for about 5 seconds and hits a wide open receiver. Washington's strength is not in the d-line. They won't be able to put pressure on Brady at all. Their best hope is to rush a couple guys and drop everyone else back. They do that, Maroney runs all over them. Washington's defense is in trouble this game mostly because they're putrid offense will put them on the field for a majority of the game. If you are going to take Washington at all in this game, please take them in the first half. In their two losses this year, Washington has been outscored in the 2nd half 31-0.
Do I think the 17 point spread is a little high? NO!!! There is just no way I see this overrated Redskins team being able to hang with the Patriots. I see Portis having a solid 13 rushes for 32 yards in the 1st half, and then relying on Jason Campbell to bring them back into the game in the 2nd half. Just for the record, Campbell has 5 TD's, 5 INT's, and 5 fumbles this year. I'll take my chances with him having to throw the Skins back into this game
Take the Patriots -17 and leave the Over/Under alone
Patriots 34
Redskins 13
