They all wanted to move on, save for Paul. @diondimucci I know I'm late to the party here but just came across this post. Where did you read the bit about Billy Preston? I'm not surprised given his personality but I'd never seen that specifically. Abbey Road side 2 was the sounds of that band and a few friends reaching the mountain-top. thx |

All the hype about a possible KC three-peat got me thinking that if Philly wins on Sunday, Chiefs fans are going to feel a lot like Pats fans felt in 2008, when the team entered SB XLII with a 17-0 record, gunning for a perfect season. I'm going to follow Don Juan's lead with another story. I think this one's good for a laugh and might be enjoyable for Giants fans & Pats-haters: We had a dozen or so friends & family over watching that game and it was intense throughout, a dog fight with both defenses dominating, neither team able to establish a ground game to speak of. The Giants pass rush had Brady on his heels bringing massive pressure - especially up the middle so Brady couldn't get his feet set to throw. The key was they brought all that pressure against a formidable O-line, with only four guys, Even so we were feeling ok going into the half with the Pats up 7-3. Fast forward to the late 4thQ and it seemed to be in the bag after Brady hit Moss for a TD to go up 14-10 with a little over 2 minutes to go. The cameras caught Tedy Bruschi and Junior Seau hugging and congratulating each other on the sideline after that score--bad juju. Just a few minutes later we're watching in disbelief as Eli led the Giants offense on an incredible drive featuring a game-saving "helmet catch" by David Tyree (aided by a non-call for holding Richard Seymour btw). Impending doom has us thinking "is it possible the Giants win this game??? A couple of plays later Manning hit Plaxico Burris for a TD. Pats down 17-14 with only about 30 seconds left, everyone's stunned, and I started questioning why the f**k am I so wrapped up in this thing?!! Don't get me wrong, I've always been a fan, but I'd never invested that much emotion on any other team at any time. So Brady came out with one time out, needing at least 40 yards to get into fg range but to me it looked like Brady was thinking TD or bust. It may be due to the Giants 4-man pass rush and flooded backfield limiting their options. So as the ball is snapped on the last play of the game, my nine year-old son stepped in front of me and snapped me out of the spell. He looked devastated, and I knew it wasn't about the game, b/c he wasn't into it at that point. So I was obviously concerned and asked "What's the matter buddy?" (as Brady's last pass hit the ground incomplete, game over) With terror in his eyes and tears running down his face he managed a blurt out between sobs "Dad, I know it was wrong but I googled "boobs"on the computer! I know you and mom are going to find out!" It took an extra half second to register, I felt really bad for the kid and gave him a hug. In retrospect it was just what I needed to break out of the zone I'd gotten into with the quest for the perfect season. Younger sports fans might not know this, but that season came just after the cheating scandal brought on by Bill's obsessive-compulsive ways, so that team was out to prove a point after people started saying the Pats won by cheating. But in the end my kid stepped in and put things into perspective for me. Oh yeah, and btw I set him straight on the matter of boobs being generally ok, even great, but alwaysin moderation, like everything else in life. |

Season 114 - 83 It looks like the public is on Philly 67%-33%, but most of Covers is on KC along with the (7-0) PuppyBowl. But our very own SB Wizard Don Juan says Philly's the play. I for one was glad to see that! It should be a great game watching Mahomes and a formidable KC defense going against a Philly team with very few apparent flaws. I've never been a fan of this team but I think the Eagles have the decided edge in this one. I expect they'll dominate in the the trenches on both sides of the ball, but especially on D. A friend of mine who's an Eagles fan told em he expects this game to be like Tampa Bay's 31-9 demolition of the Chiefs in 2021. I don't see it, I think this game will be much more competitive. The Eagles Defense should be able to put lots of pressure on Mahomes and contain the Chiefs attack. On the other side, they don't need Hurts to be TB. If he keeps on the track he's been on in these playoffs (zero turnovers), ride Barkely and make the occasional big play when needed that should be enough to get the W. Eagles +1.5 Goedert over 4.5 receptions -102 (posted last week)
I'll probably post a couple more props before KO Also, between Don Juan's story and the hype leading up to this game, I was reminded of a story of my own which I'll post shortly. BOL

So, she was asleep in the back. Around 4 am I stopped at a rest area to pee. About four minutes later, I jumped back into the van and took off. Two hours or so later I asked my Mother-in-Law, who was in the front seat, where she would like to stop for breakfast. She shouted; She's GONE! What? I said. She got out after you did to use the bathroom too, she replied, and she began to cry! Continued... I like it so far Don Juan. Wish I could have gotten rid of my ex that easy |
