I'm almost out of here In a world cup full of shocks, well actually you shouldn't call them shocks anymore, the playing field has been levelled in a number of ways I won't waste on the fanboys here who just want a pick. I don't think there'll be the Argentina France final the TV companies and sponsors want, I expect tight games like the Quarter Finals but like every football match, the game will turn on its head when that first goal goes in. But for right now, I like both dogs to Advance, that doesn't mean just to win in 90 minutes, I can see at least 1 upsetting the apple cart. There are no certainties at this level. |

hmmm, not giving my opinions on the side here, i think the england defence is suspect to say the least, over 2.25 goals is the play I'll take here |

The voice of american soccer journalism, so well respected, I listened to him a lot, read his highly articulate articles, the best are all taken early... Very sad. |

but preference is for brazil, its very square but they have a slightlier easier draw if it pans out as it should, they are a settled squad, its good they're no superstars, they look better at the back than most recent brazil teams. Silva is getting on but has formed a good partnership with marquinos, neymar looks better now than when he was in his supposed primer 5 or so years ago, he and casemiro will feed any 2 of jesus, richarlison and vinicius jr. For me this is the most solid starting 11, yes theyre short right now at 7/2 and a lot of other good teams are twice the price but when they're evens in the QF's, the price will look big.
time to hedge or i could ride them out |

This leaves Mbappe who is the perfect age and in the peak of his career to win the spoils, france should go far again and at 10/1, he's a good bet. |

Croatia Belgium - really bad vibes coming from the Belgium camp, De Bruyne, Vertongen and Hazard in a war of words and theyve looked very average in their 2 games making a mockery of course of Fifa's "world rankings". Vertongen and Alderwield at the back was fine 5+ years ago but they're past it now. Belgium are now priced up on reputation, Croatia turned it on against Canada and with Morocco on the same points, they need to win here, 8/5 is a great play on them. Canada with nothing to lose shouldnt be discounted against Morocco but I will be only playing this one live. Spain could play for a draw and have germany knocked out but I don't see that happening and it will leave Japan kicking themselves they didnt get anything against costa rica. Again better opportunities in these live than before kick off. |

final stage of group matches and should get some tense finishes. Ecuador Senegal could go any way of 3 Iran USA - man for man yanks are faves but Iran look hungrier, USA have not looked very impressive, a draw could be enough for the Iranians but you get where I'm thinking on this one. Holland will beat Qatar but i don't see them running up the score so I'll do a nice square parlay with England who will win their rivalry game.

Seriously how much more fun would this game be to watch and i am sure play too if they would just get rid of the stupid damn offsides rule
in Soccer @pa2918 ok, this thread does need some intelligent comment. it used to be (before VAR), the attacker was given the benefit of the doubt and you saw more goals given, then VAR was introduced to stop scandalous decisions being given by linesman who need glasses, now with VAR if you're an inch offside, you're offside but if you say thats too much, where do u draw the line, is a foot ok, then what. In throwball, everyone has to be behind the line of scrimmage, same principle in football. The game would be chaos if there was no offside and even though some of these decisions are maddening, its better than 10 years ago when somebody scores and they were offside by 2 yards. oh and the game is rigged of course |
