Clearly a set-up. You are a bird if you think otherwise.

Clearly the Jays don't. I think the Tigers are in the middle of a division race without Verlander and probably aren't making it. However I'm biased since I'm from Detroit. Tigers are up 12.5 games. Verlander hasn't been worth 13 wins this season. Tigers still make it. |

If granderson wasnt on the yankees ..... theyre not leading by this much, this late Do a quick search before making yourself look foolish. 42>41 Granderson has 41 home runs in 148 gams. Bautista has 42 homeruns in 139 games. Just because the Jays would still suck doesn't make him less valuable. That is just a stupid comment. |

I have no problem giving a pitcher the MVP if they deserve it. Verlander hasn't been the MVP this year. It's still Bautista right now.

Halladay for sure. 1st in WAR, 1st in WPA, 1st in FIP, 2nd in xFIP, 1st in tERA
...and lol @ Kennedy even being in the discussion. |

That's nice and all but a bunch of those stats like WAR and xFIP are league adjusted, so there goes that argument.
It just doesn't make sense that Verlander is in the MVP discussion and Halladay isn't. Halladay is having a better season for one, and Verlander's competition (Bautista, Ellsbury, Ganderson, etc.) are having better season than Halladay's competition (Kemp, Votto, Upton, etc.) ...and Detroit would win the division with or without Verlander, they are 13.5 games up (Philly is 11 games up) That arguement doesn't make much sense either. |

Halladay is the best pitcher in baseball this year.
2011 Stats (MLB ranking): WAR: Doc: 8.1 (1st) Verlander: 6.7 (4th) WPA: Doc: 4.83 (1st) Verlander: 4.63 (4th) ERA: Doc: 2.34 (3rd) Verlander: 2.36 (4th) FIP: Doc: 2.10 (1st) Verlander: 2.93 (10th) xFIP: Doc: 2.62 (2nd) Verlander: 3.06 (7th) K/9: Doc: 8.64 (16th) Verlander: 9.08 (8th) BB/9: Doc: 1.23 (3rd) Verlander: 2.02 (14th) K/BB: Doc: 7.03 (1st) Verlander: 4.49 (6th) WHIP: Doc: 1.04 (9th) Verlander: 0.92 (1st) CG: Doc: 8 (2th) Verlander: 4 (6th) Doc's BABIP is .304, Verlander's is .237. Doc's GB% is 50.7, Verlander's is 40.3 Doc's line drive rate is only 0.8% higher but has a IFFB rate 5.3% higher. This explains his better WHIP, getting much MUCH more luck than Halladay this year. If you have a choice who pitched better in 2011, Halladay or Verlander and you pick Verlander, put down the pipe. Class is over. |
