Hey thanks everyone! Very valuable discussion.
FYI I'm only talking about a 1/2 point here or a point there. Maybe 2 points MAX. (Just trying to match the picks I get from my source, and often the point spread will move before I can bet.) Generally online, buying 1/2 point will cost me 10 odds units -- meaning, if the pick is +4 -110, buying 1/2 point to get it to +4.5 will be -120. etc. Thanks again! See you all in Vegas!

When I bet online, I will often buy 1/2 or a whole point.
Can I do that at Vegas sports books? Thanks everyone!

I have a question with regards to this.
I am heading to Vegas soon after doing well with online betting for a while. But it will be my first time betting in Vegas. I will be betting $500-$1000 per bet, sometimes 15 bets a day. Do I really need to carry $15000 in cash in my pocket? Or are there ways to deposit money at casinos and bet from that deposit? Thanks everyone! |

Thanks guys! You're right I guess there's no reason to "spread it around." But what about line shopping?

My apologies in advance for the Vegas newbie questions.
1. Can I sit in a sports book with my computer, doing my calculations? I have a vague memory of reading somewhere that this was prohibited. If I had to, I could simply use my cel phone, but that's a pain. 2. How are bets actually paid for? Credit Card? Debit Card? Nobody wants to lay $2500 bets in cash, right? (I will probably set up a new bank account just for this betting spree.) 3. If I want to spread my bets around, where is a great place with several good books within walking distance? (For instance, what about the corner at which sit the Bellagio, Caesars, Ballys, etc?) Obviously I've never done sports betting in Vegas, just online. Thanks in advance for answers. I welcome mocking and abuse! Ralph

Still figuring out my system, looking pretty good but I won't be in Vegas until Feb or March I think.

Thanks Kaba! That was my suspicion too.
My friend and I also figured that they might be able to fudge picks that no one buys and wait until 15-20 min into the game to release them to the non-buying public, thus gaining a little bit of edge by seeing who scored first, etc.
Also we caught them switching odds on some games, so the pick could be for the favorite but the payout was for the dog. So SIC is a scam. I'm still tracking -- and hoping for -- Precision Picks. |

Hey Bart thanks for the reply. I bet:
Precision Picks: 168 picks (about 48% wins) Sports Investor Central: 107 picks (about 52% wins) I want to believe. But my betting friends are VERY suspicious of what might go on in the fifteen minutes between when the game starts and when they release their picks. (At least the picks no one buys.) Also a few times they have switched the odds so a huge favorite seems to be logged at big underdog odds. This makes my friends very suspicious too. Can you shed any wisdom on whether I should keep going? Do you know anyone who has used them?

Does anyone buy picks from the more official-looking online handicapping sites like Precision Picks or Sports Investor Central? I've been tracking then for several weeks and I can't find a flaw in the system. Then I bought some picks and of course didn't do as well as their posted percentages. What am I missing?

Precision Picks? SportsInvestorCentral? Are these places for real or are they scams? I've been tracking for a while and I can't tell.

Don't forget to check out airbnb and vrbo. Some cheap options and the prices don't go up on weekends.

I've been using Sportsbookreview.com, but they don't update it often enough and I find it unreliable.
Can you point me toward better one? Maybe a really user-friendly one? Thanks so much everyone!
