I won't elaborate, however, as what you are about to pursue; I Am sure that you are fully aware of, is highly 'illegal' but yet you put it down on an open gambling forum for the entire world to read ( including U.S. law enforcement agency's) Your quest has merit, your idea is justified, and will make you a great deal of money if done professionally, local bookmaking concept has changed dramatically over the past 6 years, and in many cases, has been fine tuned to excellence, if my action wasn't confined to LV SportBooks, based simply on the fact that I reside here, I would never use an online/offshore sportsbook as opposed to a 'local' service...never..the key element is based on the software that's being employed, and its application to the local market that surrounds it, take it from their, and talk to someone with some form of IT/programming experience relating to the sports bookmaking industry on the 'local' side of the fence. may you prosper my brother, you've got the balls, now connect them to your brain and everything will fall in place...take care Appreciate the great insight and advice my friend. I did post in the U.S. Gaming thread....But believe it or not, this is the thread where I have received the most commentary and feedback. I'm away of the legal ramification. But I figure if you get arrested, your pulling in tons of coin. I'm just a starter and looking for basic Do's and Donts. All the action of course will be hosted through a PPH site. I'm starting everything off on limits, on parlays, teasers, etc. I have a bank roll (budget) of 35K and then I will cut my losses. My biggest issue right now is building up clientele. I have told everyone I know, and most already have a online book. I'm posting it openly on a gaming forum, cause hey where else can I get advice on this...Then goto a gaming site. Please keep the feed back coming.... Grateful for the advice.

Plasma is right, you'll want to use a PPH (pay per head) website. Everything is tracked online for them and it has lines for everything. You just pay a small amount per account each week. Well worth it. Bayside is right near me...I'm by the Cross Island and Clearview... I already have a host site set up with limits and usernames... Everything is ready to go, except for signing up the players... I did write up a very generic email that I'm thinking bout sending out and see if I fish some leads...without trying to sound like I'm soliciting someone Or if you know folks in Bayside who needs a local.... Feedback is greatly appreciated... |

The most important thing is finding clients who you trust that will be good payers and not cause any problems. The rest will usually take care of itself and of course is quite lucrative. The other thing you must do which is crucial, is find a good book for yourself. When your running a local book (and I imagine you'll have anywhere between 10-25 clients), you'll definitely have exposure on certain games i.e. everyone taking Alabama tonight, which can lead to potentially a huge loss. Make sure you have your own book you can lay some action off if need be. Helps limit exposure and avoids a potential big hole. Also gives you the chance to hit a massive middle (if you bet bama at -6.5 and all your clients have bama at -7) if you play your cards right. Good luck. Keep everything off line, don't leave a paper trail, find trustworthy clients. FYI where in NY do you live I could use another book I have everything covered, with setting limits and having another book to minimize your exposures...And of course I have book of my own... Of course only thing I don't have is the main thing, which is clientele...Only have leads....But can't seem to get off their online books, which is mainly all 5Dimes... I already have Host site set up with limits and usernames. I was thinking of breaking the email down to a group of 10 people... And just see what their response is. I'm not exposing nothing in the email except for my services and won't be posting no link in it. Though I'm getting nervous about the though it. This is the biggest group of leads I have cause they all were involved in sports betting one way or other. I'm located in Eastern Queens, near Nassau County border. Greatly appreciate the feedback. I'm all ears to more advice. |

Hello Fellow Members,
Looking for some advice/help on trying to start my own book making shop. First of all, I know its illegal and the troubles behind it. But its something I always wanted to give a shot at. My questions is....I have some leads on potentional clientele, but can't seem to lock them down. Also, I have a huge email list of former colleagues & acquaintances, who used to do yearly office football pools and march madness brackets. Though 90% of these folks I have not met in person. I'm think of sending out a mass email to them (BCC of course) to offer my services & hopefully sign up some folks. Do ya think it's a good idea with the email? All Advice & criticism is gladly appreciated & accepted. If any one is the book making business, would love some tips on how to successfully open up your own shop. Happy New Year All! P.S. - Looking to open shop in NYC/NJ Area...

Like I said , they were all involved in some sort of office pools before.I created a new generic sports email address for it. Just going to send a bland generic email asking for folks if they're looking into some action on games. Or is that still not a good idea? Thing is, everybody I know that bets is already using an online sports book,5dimes. Having a hard time switching them over to me. Appreciate the feedback. |

In my head, this isn't a good matchup for Navy. I know everyone is slobbering over this Pitt run defense but Pitt has the advantage. They've already faced a similar style triple option with Ga Tech......GA Tech just has bigger RBs and better OL. Also you can't look past the fact that Narduzzi is a stud coach especially with defenses. You can bet that Pitt will play alignment, assignment football this afternoon. I know Navy has the HFA and the better QB in this game but there is more to a game than that. Navy's DL is going to be severely undermanned in this game against the size of Pitt. Navy is going to have to make a decision in this game, put 8 people in the box and leave a single CB on Boyd's side, or play 2 high safeties to help cover him and play with 6 or 7 in the box. Ollison is a load at RB for Pitt. He's just a freshmen but dude can go. Pitt has several things in their corner today, Navy has 2 (HFA and QB) I like Pitt +3 Pitt ML +125 and I lean to the Over 52 Good luck to all. Hope everyone had a great Christmas and has a Happy New Year!! You couldn't be more wrong on your Write up....You made it sound like Navy was playing against Bama & Nick Saban....Pitt is middle of the pack average ACC team with a below average QB and a Coach is cry baby who whines and throws tirades at the Refs when he doesn't get a call.... GT shredded Pitt....Pitt won due to turnover battle and late second long FG. There's no NFL talent on Pitt except for Pitt...Cmon Man.. If you did you research, like Megalocks....Navy has give up 21 points only twice this season, Notre Dame and Houston and also Navy is the least penalized team in college football... Everybody today though Pitt was the second coming of Bama today....Smh...

San Diego State played in the worst conference in college football, (the Sunbelt is better). I am not sold on this team. I have never had a problem betting against Rocky Long coached teams and this game is no different. Are you serious? Do you make a wager when you don't even know what conference the other team plays in?? San Diego St does not play in the Sun Belt They play in the Moutain West and one have on best running games along with a Stout Defense.... |
