Good luck this weekend... hope you kill it so the nay sayers are quiet for a little while What's up Bruce. Yeah that was a bad loss, but as the Sherriff says we'll get em next time. Kap is definitely struggling. His inability to throw accurate short passes or even find the short receivers is magnified against defenses that can rush the passer. The cool thing is he has quite a few games against teams that can rush the passer so we can fade him and thank him later for being consistently bad. Hope you find some good gems capping, and hit some winners tomorrow. Best of luck to you buddy and thanks for the support. (And I don't think the naysayers are going away anytime soon...they would have to get a life in order for that to happen...I don't think that will happen anytime soon, we just have to get used to it). (Cue Andy Griffith Show music...) The Presence: 2015 NFL Week 7 Picks Continued: #1 NYJ +10 ($750) [quick analysis: Jets match up well, should win battle in the trenches, secondary capable of shutting down NE receivers, Ivory will be a load to stop with Marshall requiring a double team, opening up opportunities for Decker and the other WRs] #2 Dallas Cowboys +4 ($500) [quick analysis: Cowboys have the advantage on both lines. Lee and Mclain can drop back in coverage to help the weak Dallas secondary cover the short passing game. Cowboys scary dLine is fully healthy and will be getting after Eli all day. Injured NYG LB corps will have trouble containing Witten so Dallas can move the chains even if the running game can't get going. Dallas was undefeated on the road last year, a sign that Garret gets them mentally prepared for road games] #3 SF +7 (-$550) Loss (See previous posts for full analysis of games 1-3) #4 St Louis Rams -6.5 ($500) Never thought I'd see the day that the Rams would be favored over anybody by this much again. I think the line is set to try and get Cleveland backers. Cleveland's defense is a banged up bunch, and their run defense was already one of the worst in the league. That's bad news against a red hot Todd Gurley who should run for close to 200 yds in this one. Check his highlights, this dude is like a slimmer faster version of Chris Ivory. The Rams pass rush isn't as scary as it used to be, but they are still good enough to get after McCown. The Browns were only in the game against Denver because of Manning's bad picks. Not saying Foles might not throw any bad picks, but I suspect that the play calling will be focused on the run because of the major advantage STL has there. Browns have played a couple of OT games so they are a tired bunch, while the Rams are coming off a bye week. Watch for Tayvon Austin go get going with all of the attention that Gurley will be getting. #5 Carolina Panthers -3 ($500) Speaking of tired bunches, The Panthers will be awfully tired after flying to Seattle and back. They also are probably feeling a little weary after playing a physical game with the bruising Seahawks. Because of these reasons I see them giving up a few more rush yards to the Eagles than they normally would. Both defenses are ranked pretty similar, and overall this is an evenly matched game. The X-Factor comes down to Cam Newton. He is rising to the occasion this season and putting his team on his back. In a big game situation on SNF, I'm going to bet that Cam will be the difference maker versus Sam Bradford. Bradford had like three turnovers against one of the poorer defenses in the league (NYG). Cam has won a national title being the feature player, he's been to the playoffs, and he just went to Seattle and beat the Hawks in a hostile environment. I think a well rested Panthers team beats down this Eagles team, but because of the wear and tear I think the game stays pretty close. I imagine at -3 the worst I would get a push, so I'm laying the FG and taking Superman and the Panthers.
**** SF +7 vs Seattle Loss Analysis: I don't like losing, but loving learning from the experience. As I put in my original analysis of this game, I didn't see any way the Niners could move the ball against the Seattle Defense, but I was counting on them being able to rise up on defense and perhaps get a few short fields on turnovers to be able to stay in the game. From before kick-off, the look of hopelessness on Kapernick's face told me all I needed to know about what was going to happen in that game. He didn't believe at all and he played like it. Niners got like 5 sacks on Wilson, but it was all too easy for Seattle to move the ball on them. Luckily for the Niners Wilson and the Hawks weren't really interested in embarrassing them in front of their home crowd or this one could have been a lot worse. What can we learn? Kap has no confidence or awareness in his short passing game. He will excel against defenses that can't really rush the passer and have a suspect secondary because of his arm and he has a speedy receiver in Torrey Smith (ala NYG and Ravens). Against a team that can rush the passer he can't seem to find the right outlet receiver to make the defense pay. If we take a look at the SF schedule we see quite a few teams that he will face the rest of the year that can apply this type of pressure and he will not be able to counter. The earliest one comes next week against the Rams so that's a great opportunity to capitalize on the situation. With the veteran Bethea getting put on IR after Thursday's game, I don't know if the Niners Defense can keep them in games any more even against bad teams. The Niners should be easy fades most of the way for the rest of the season.
Good luck to everyone on their plays this weekend. |

But the -120 price on the 9'ers spread has me hestitating to pull the trigger. Not sure I like the 9'ers at a 20 cent price even with the spread. Might just avoid the game all together. Was wondering what your thoughts are? What's up Steven. I just posted in Wizerguy's thread regarding this game. He has a pretty good list of stats pointing the 49ers direction if you want to check it out. But here's what I posted: "Good stuff, I'm rolling with SF as well. Niners would be 3-0 ATS at home if it weren't for a stalled drive at the GB 8 yd line because of sacks. That was before Kap got his groove back. The defense also frustrated Rogers to the point that he was caught screaming at his Olinemen on the sideline for not being able to give him time. Mangini had A-Rod's number, but the SF Offense couldn't hold up their end of the bargain. SF Defense should be able to take advantage of Seattle's poor pass protection. The Niners offense has no business being in the game with Seattle's defense, but with this game pretty much being their Super Bowl I think they get up for it and play well enough to win or lose by a FG." I'm not sure how Kap and company are going to pull it off. They need to get their running game going, but Seattle's run defense is great, and they are getting Bobby Wagner back for this game. But the Niners got some other things going on in their favor besides their recent performances. Seattle is traveling on a short week. The Niners have performed very well at home, and with the Hawks coming to town for a prime time game I think they will get up for the game and try to match the Seahawks' physicality. The Seahawks offensive line is having real trouble protecting Wilson, he is getting sacked like 4 times a game. The same goes for the Niners oline. I expect quite a few sacks on both sides meaning there will be a lot of punts. This should be a close game and I wouldn't be surprised if the Niners won. I live in Northern California and unfortunately have a lot of exposure to the Niners so I know a little bit about them. I would love nothing more than to see them embarrassed on national TV, but I have a feeling they will be up to the challenge. ******** The Presence's 2015 Week 7 NFL Picks #3 SF +7 or more ($500) See previous post for analysis of picks #1-2, Jets and Cowboys. If you really want to win...You must know who you are.
Who are you? What are you all about? Would you describe yourself as an athlete? A student? A sheriff? The identity that you take up for yourself plays a big part in how you behave. And your behavior, meaning the actions you take, determine your life. For example if you think of yourself as an athlete, its highly likely you eat with your body's conditioning in mind. You likely have athletic shoes readily available, perhaps even an extra gym bag in your car. You probably drink lots of water, work out, and make sure you stretch often. Those actions likely help you stay in great shape, and align your reality with the identity that you chose: an athlete. The same is true if you think of yourself as a student. You probably have a backpack in your room, books and notebooks, post it notes, extra pens and pencils, etc, etc. Even if you are not in a traditional school setting, if you view yourself as a student it is likely you still carry materials with you to help you log things that you learn. Your identity is paramount in how you behave. Why is this relevant? When it comes to wagering on games, do you view yourself as an investor? Here to take advantage of the opportunity to use your money to make more money? Or do you view yourself as a novice gambler? Here to have a little fun and hopefully to make money on a sport you love to watch? If you're involved in wagering on sports just for fun, it's likely you wouldn't be on covers sorting through threads looking for an edge. You would just wager based on what you see on tv and live with the results. If you're reading this, it's likely that you're trying to make money consistently betting on sports games. But how do you view yourself? Do you view yourself as an investor? Or a gambler? Though investing is a form of gambling, real investors usually do their due diligence before plotting down their hard earned money on a venture. Ask yourself, what would an investor do before putting his money into an investment? Would he look at the track record of the company he wants to invest in, and the people involved? If he does make an investment, wouldn't he pay attention on how the stock performs and where it's likely to head? The investor does those types of things because that's what investors do (at least the good ones do). That is a part of their process, and the process is part of their identity as an investor. If you think you're serious about making money on your games, but you still behave like a gambler (betting on any game that comes your way, not weighing risks, betting more than you have, etc, etc), then you will never succeed at the venture because gamblers are supposed to lose. If that's you're identity, if you say to yourself at all "I'm a gambler" you can bet your subconscious mind will help you find a way to lose, because gamblers aren't supposed to win. But if view yourself as a good capper, sharp player, or investor, than its likely you take different actions than a gambler. If you're pretty good at capping, and you have read this far, then it's likely you want to make consistent money at betting on games. If you haven't done so, you must start viewing yourself as an investor, someone who takes calculated risks, and not someone who throws out money on a whim. You need to have enough capital to be able to use your money to make money. You must be prepared for the ups and downs of business. You must be conscious of those things and many more things if you are to succeed. I'm writing this for the ones who view themselves as good at picking winners, but yet have nothing to show for it. You must know who you are. If you're just a gambler pretending to be an investor, you must make that identity shift. How do you do that? Just think of the things you think a pro investor would do, and do them. If you don't know, ask someone that does. When you get the answer, do it. Do not just take knowledge in and never apply it. You will never get the benefits of that knowledge if you don't act on it. You must change your inner belief about yourself before any real results are manifested on the outside. Once you start viewing yourself as more than a gambler, you will be able to take advantage of the opportunity to use your money to make money. The next time you want to bet on a game just because its the next one up, ask yourself, "is this what a real investor would do?" If you find yourself betting it anyways without calculating the risks and how it will effect your bankroll, season, life, etc, then you can rest assured that you are just a gambler, not serious about making money, and that gamblers inevitably lose. |

If you go slow and steady, you'll never get tired.
The Presence's Week 7 NFL Picks #1 NYJ +10 ($750) Hopped right on the juicy +10 for the NYJ last night. This is almost as easy to pick as the Eagles on MNF. Though the Jets' slot corner is banged up, they are in pretty good shape to stop the NE train. Don't be surprised if the J-E-T-S beat Tommy and the boys this weekend. The Jets defense and (all other AFC East Defenses) were built with stopping the Patriots in mind. NYJ has formidable lines on both sides of the ball, Chris Ivory has been playing out of his mind, and Brandon Marshall will require a double team. The opening things up for the other WRs. Jets always play the Pats tough (in two games last season they lost by a combined 3 points), and I see no reason why they won't do it this weekend. The only difference this time is they have the horses to actually win this time. Should be a great game. #2 Dallas Cowboys +4 ($500) My boys are back and are well rested coming off their bye week to play the disaster that is the New York Football Giants. The Giants' injuries are slowing them down and things don't get easier with Greg Hardy and the new look Dallas DLine coming to town. The Cowboys are starting Cassel who once led a pretty good New England team to an 11-5 record. He had Randy Moss on that team, and he'll have Dez Bryant on this team (albeit maybe not for this game). The Cowboys should be able to dominate on both sides of the ball in the trenches and that is bad news for Eli Manning whose WR corp is banged up. The Cowboys will challenge that Giants run defense that people have been raving about and expose them for the average bunch that they are (injuries have made the Giants week at LB). A banged up NYG secondary should allow Terrance Williams and Jason Witten to make an impact on this game. This should be a close one with the Boys winning by a FG. Every new day presents a new opportunity to be better than yesterday. 2015 Updated Posted Record : 10-8-1 (55%) +$585 |

If you really want to win...you gotta understand the Difference Between Stimulation and Happiness.
With MNF looming, I bet there's a couple of people out there that are wanting to chase their losses from the weekend, and put it all on the MNF game. I'm writing this post in hopes of educating those who may not be aware of the difference between Stimulation and Happiness. All human beings are constantly seeking Happiness. That is our number 1 goal as a person, and there's no disputing it. We all have a different way to get to Happiness, but ultimately, whatever actions we take, are because we think we'll be happier because of the results of that action. The problem with us is that we often confuse Stimulation with Happiness. Stimulation is a short lived burst of a feeling. Usually that feeling is excitement. Like watching a football game, sometimes we may put money on the game because the risk of losing makes it more exciting. The excitement is real, but it is fleeting. Once the outcome has been decided, all the excitement goes away. In contrast, Happiness lasts longer. You can reflect back on Happy moments, and start to feel happy again even though the moment itself has long past. Do you remember the first time you slept with a girl? That thought probably puts a smile on your face every time you think about it. It wasn't necessarily the sex, but the moment you finally went all the way to home plate. You can't do the same with football wagers. Think back to a game last year that you won. Do you feel happy thinking about it? Probably not. It was stimulating at the time, but doesn't last. As I was thinking about dropping some more money on the Meagles tonight, I thought back to when I was betting with a very small bankroll and what I would do if I hit a "rough" patch like I did yesterday. I would go all in on MNF. But WHY would I do that? We would logically say to "make my money back." And making that money back would make me happy. Would it really though? Does happiness come from making money back after a loss? What would I do with that money? Use it to bet on more games...more stimulation...more fleeting moments that pass on a whim? It's important to understand the difference between Stimulation and Happiness. It'll help keep you from wagering recklessly. If you have a system in place, and it's designed to win, from your bankroll, to the amount you bet, to what type of games you'll bet, a money manager, etc...you'll likely end up winning consistently. And with that money you can buy experiences that will make you happy. Taking the kids in your life to Disneyland, or buying your parents an unexpected gift, or being able to help someone in need. Those type of actions are give us the feeling of happiness that we are really seeking, not chasing losses on one game. You'll be a lot happier to win consistently than to win once. If you don't have a process in place to help you win and you are serious about making money wagering on games, now is a good time to take a look at doing that. You'll be able to buy more opportunities to be happy and reach your real goals. Best of luck to you my brothers. "Win from Within."

How bout that fourth-down-fake-punt-gonna-get-someone-fired play?? I thought I've seen everything after that Punt Block for a TD yesterday in the Michigan State game lol...gotta love football! Speaking of the Colts, let's go ahead and do the loss analysis: NE Patriots (-7.5) at Indy Colts SNF Normally with a high point underdog capable of winning I would cap it like I did the SD game that I did for Steven earlier in the thread. (I picked the right team, however I did not play that game). In that case I would normally choose a Colts team capable of covering as a major underdog at home in primetime. But like everyone else, I didn't consider this a normal game. I figured it to be a blowout of epic proportions, but I got it wrong. Given the chance to do it again, with this Patriots team at -7.5, I would still go with Tommy and the Pats. I would just feel dumb if I went against them at this stage of their winning streak and lost. AZ -3 (-$550) at Pittsburg "The only thing in life that is sure is that nothing's for sure." Did the rain have an effect? Possibly. Should I have checked the weather report? Definitely. Certainly didn't expect this outcome. Cards were outgaining the Steelers it looked like, then some cat named Landry Jones and his sidekick Martavis Bryant came in with some knockout blows. I normally take the home underdog in this situation, but the backup QB on a short week against a top level team was too hard to back. I really thought AZ would do to them what they did to Detroit last week. Winners find a way to win, and losers find a way to lose, so I guess that's the difference between the Steelers and the Lions. This is no small observation because the Steelers are traveling to play the meandering Chiefs next week who seem to always find a way to lose. Losses happen, No reason to get down though, as life happens in waves. Progress happens in ups and downs, not in the straight line that we think it should happen on. There's lots more opportunities to win this season, starting tomorrow with the Philadelphia Eagles. Now time to do the math... The Presence's 2015 Week 6 NFL + NCAAF Picks 2015 Updated Posted Record (just started last week): 9-8-1 (53%) +$85 (yikes!) #1 NE -7.5 ($1375) LOSS #2 NO +3.5 (+$500) WIN #3 AZ -3 (-$550) LOSS #4 PHI -4 ($500) Still to come... #5 Stanford -6.5 (10/15/15 vs UCLA) (+$500) WIN #6 UNDER 55 UCLA/Stanford (-$550) LOSS #7 Alabama -4 (+$500) WIN #8 KC +3.5 (-$550) LOSS My pride definitely takes a hit with that posted 53%. I will definitely focus on bringing that number up for us. I strongly suspect Chip Kelly and company will come through as expected tomorrow night. "Success is the result of doing small things well."

Last night as I was scrolling through KC's 2014 schedule, I saw a game where they traveled to Miami early in the season and beat the Dolphins without Jamal Charles. Haha, yeah brotha Tony Robbins' videos on youtube was definitely one of the biggest influences in helping me understand myself. Don't be shocked if I directly use his material here to try and help people. If anyone reading this would like to learn about human nature/desires, and why they crave certainty and uncertainty, I suggest you look up Tony's videos on youtube. This is FREE information and I guarantee you that I will help you with your capping far more than comparing stats and rankings. Human psychology and how thoughts effect energy and performance should be a foundational piece in your thought process, not just in capping games but in relationships in general. Your foundation is most important. If you have a faulty foundation (picking games based on what you see on tv and highlights, fantasy sports rankings, basic stats, etc) your building (bank roll) is bound to fall. Build a strong foundation (Example: Dallas Cowboys were hovering at 8-8 until they put together their massive O-Line. When they were done with that they pieced together their D-line. Now when fully healthy, they are a top-5 team in the league, all because the foundation is strong). I will touch on this more later as I have to get going right now. Thanks for the positive words. Best of success to you brotha. **** JFroShowtime I appreciate the encouragement. Best of luck to you brotha **** TimeisTruth what's up man. I actually just feel a Giants implosion coming on. They are pretty good at it. Last year I believe they started out ok and proceeded to lose 7 in a row around this time of the year. The Giants are not a solid team. They have a lot of injuries and now Beckham is banked up which will make him easier to cover if he even plays. The Giants couldn't stop Kap in the second half of SNF...he had like 3 70yd drives all finishing in TDs to finish that game. If he started that in the second quarter the Giants would have got blown out. Meanwhile the Eagles are starting to pick up steam. Their MO is to wear you out so they can run all over you in the 4th quarter. I think they'll be able to do that against a very banged up Giants Defense. Larry O'Donnell can only carry you so far.
I hope that helps. I wish everyone the best of luck. I messed around last night and hit Oregon on NCAFF so today I am gonna put in a play just to mess around: #8 KC +3.5 (at MN) $500 - I just got a feeling... Best of luck again. Remember to build that foundation.
