2-0 in the series thus far.
ok, Series is tied 1-1.
I just cant help thinking that this series is rigged. Even Gallop said our finance team love it when it is 1-1. Furthermore, with TV rights up for grab, there is no better time to have it a tied series. Anyway that is enough of my theories.
On the field. To me, QLD have been really really dissapointing so far. TBH, i dont think they have even tried.
They have scored ONLY 4 tries in the series thus far. 2 of those from kicks and one of those tries off kicks i must say was more GOOD LUCK than anything else, Yeow Yee.
For a team, that boasts a backline like QLD, that is disgraceful. Now is that down to a lack of form from QLD? Different tactics? NSW defense? Or just the rules of the game dont allow offense anymore? Maybe a comination of all factors.
This NSW team reminds me of (now you are all gonna laugh), of the Miami Heat. A small team , size wise, but more than make up for it in athleticism. This results in better coverage and range accross the park defesively (HEAT were really really good in closing out due to there range).
This is a a strange matchup. I think Stuart and NSW got very very lucky in game 2 with the very small pack. NSW ball control was extrodinary.
I am LEANING QLD big here.
Analysis:
QLD through a massive advantage in size HAVE to go forward. If they go forward with anger, they will bend the NSW line backwards. No doubt about it. NSW dont have the kg's to stop this. QLD should be making massive metres up the middle. Once the NSW line gets bent backwards, the edge defenders will have NO option but to come in more to help out and negate the big yardage up the middle. Once this has been established, then i would expect Locky, Thurston along with GI and Hodges to RAPE NSW on the edge. The advantage NSW have here is there coverage and range due to there athleticism, BUT this will wear them out over 80 minutes.
For NSW to win, the only way is for outstanding ball control as they did in game 2 and extremely quick play the balls. NSW arent gonna go through them, no way. The only way is for very very quick play the balls and getting Ennis and Gidley jumping from dummy half and tiring out Petro and Scott, otherwise forget about it.
QLD should win and win well. Qld havent played well so far in the series, NSW played there grand final last game. Hodges is back who even at 50% is a massive upgrade on Neilsen, especially offensively. GI is more match fit and is looking better every week. Add the Lockyer factor and the refereeing (Stuart coming out in the public talking about the refs, he knows what is gonna happen otherwise he wouldnt comment).
I reckon a high scoring game as well assuming it is dry up there.
Most likely i will wait till half time but i will see, if dry, a very strong lean to over.
