Olic got hurt in the last week - so Jelavik will start up front - and I do see that as a significant loss.
You shouldn't. Jelavic is in much better form than Olic.
I'm Croatian btw. May not mean much, but I don't believe this team will do well, I am going to bet on Ireland, just see them as a solid team that runs a lot, that will torture us big time.
Also, Italian formation looks horrible. Good start for you on the EC, congrats.

goood stuff on today games i also think spains best days are behind them and best time to pull upset is on first game in group stages i wont be shocked at all if italy wins this game
as farest croatia u are right about hard to figure them out it seems they play to their commpeticion they are capable of winning against big teams but then they also could lose to weak teams they change their lineup almost every game seems like im really hopping they krancar vida vukojevic and dujmovic in the game other wise i dont like their chances gl today

The part that really bothers me about Balotelli - is his workrate when his team has the ball and he doesnt.
I can put up with bad decisions, I get his antics. But when Italy (or Man City) has the ball, watch him. He is usually in a covered position NOT MOVING. It drives me nuts.
Needless to say you are correct here - I am not convinced that Balotelli would have been in the position that DiNatale was in in the first place - much less put it in the net.

If you are going to play basically 3 in the back - you cannot give the ball away cheaply. The whole 2nd half Italy did just that. Time after time they gave it away in the midfield, to have Spain squander the chance.
Italy (and myself) are lucky to have gotten a result in that game. For 3/4's of the game - I wouldnt have said that - but in the last 1/4 they played terribly. The Torres chip over the bar was started 10 seconds before on an Italian free kick - that was inexplicably just given to the Spanish to counter - go back and watch this - it is really hard to explain. And this was not isolated.
Spains lack of striker definitely hurt them today. And that will continue. They have the quality to pass it in to the net - like their goal today - which will get them out of the group - but I dont think they can win the tournament on that alone.
Italy will have to decide if they will keep the formation they used today - or go back to a more traditional Italian formation with 2 banks of 4 in the back. But I do think this draw sets them up nicely to get out of the group.

Understand - but I just dont see the quality on the Ireland team that needs to be there.

After Ireland scored they stayed back and just let Croatia keep pressing 2-1 Croatia now...
Vanzack I do hear that whistle in the crowd the Croatians thought it was a dead ball on Ireland's goal. Now a flare is on the field, lol crazy soccer fans.

Appreciate your work. You are the best soccer guru on this site. I really agree with you on France tomorrow, and really like Russia to beat Poland. Poland looked terrible after they scored. Momentum got them through the first half then they came back to earth and didnt impress me at all. Any thoughts on Russia vs Poland?
In addition away from Euro, Ecuador vs Columbia today has my interest. Line movement in Columbia favor but Ecuador is tough at home. Ne thoughts would be appreciated
