had Germany over 2.5 Friday
went 2-1 in baseball Friday
and if I don't bet Spain at -133 in regs I would kill my self.
Spain Saturday all day
Tie and the under 2.5 In the Italy game.
BOL GO PORTUGAL (their winning the whole thing)
Good to hear. Recent history (the moment the format expanded to 16 teams in 1996) has never had a champ make then next final. It's only ancient history that's seen that happen.
Good luck betting against Spain

5 teams won it in 2008? My, I missed watching that tournament, but what a helluva final match that must've been.

History evidences the simple logic that as the comp has grown to include more teams, hence demand teams play more games in order to make the final, it's become harder for defending champs to do so. Surely that's not going over your head.
Oh, and Russia was easily a better team than than Greece. How'd that result turn out? I swear some people here must be soccer noobs. But then this tourney has produced an ungodly number of Fav results, against the norm for this type of format, so the unsuspecting think the Fav is to be prerennially respected. I guess they should just let Germany and Spain play the final in a few hours and tell all the other teams to go home, because clearly no 2 other teams are better than they are, of that there can be no argument.

Those writing off France, just remember this. Only 2 teams in the history of this comp have made the final following having won the previous tournament.
Germany won it in '72, made the final (lost) in '76 (interesting, Germany also won the WC played between these Euros).
Soviet Union won it in '60, made the final (lost) in '64.
Now, the kicker? The tournmanet was only expanded to 8 teams in size (still half less than what it is now) in 1980. So, the only 2 instances ever of a Euro champ repeating a finals appearance, came when all a team had to do was win 1 match (a default semi-final) to make the final. the feat was never achieved when only 8 teams were involved, now 16 are. All this means that the odds are severely against Spain even making the final, so they're likely either slip here or slip in their semi.

So here is a semi-writeup for France - all that time will allow me.....
In France's 3 games so far - they have been forced in to a ball possession type of attack - one that is similar to what Spain likes to play. This is not necessarily by their own choice - but by what their opposition forced them in to.
Time and time again - we saw that France was not comfortable in this position. Against England - they struggled - kind of like a basketball team without a probing point guard - they were unable to break down England for many quality chances - though seemingly domintating possession and the stats. Against Ukraine - they looked their best of their 3 games - and in the second half specifically - not surprisingly it was their least % of possession in all 3 games. Against Sweden - they had most of the ball - but same story.
Some teams just dont play well when they have the bulk of possession and are faced with having to break down a double bank of 4 defenders. France has proven this is their weakness. Nasri just hasnt been able to do it from the quarterback position - I am hopeful that they play BOTH Cabaye and MVila today - they missed Cabaye greatly against Sweden. France is best when they absorb and attack in a more even game - with space to operate.
Well - here is the good news for France - they play a side today that is certainly going to have most of the possession - and will not change their style of play. We saw that Spain is vulverable at the back - Croatia threatened them several times and had some point blank opportunities. When those 6 midfielders push up, the wing backs often drift up with them, and you can counter in to 2 backs with numbers and speed - which France has.
This is a matchup play. Yes Spain has the talent advantage - they do over anyone in the world. But France is versatile - we have seen 3 games where they were forced in to a style that didnt suit them - and now they will be forced in to a style that I believe suits them best. Watch for Spain to have most of the ball - especially early - but France will be dangerous on the counter. I dont believe that France will be surprised with anything Spain throws at them - they know what they will see - and it will come down to being able to have the fitness to chase it for 90+ mins and being dicsiplined.
Sure - most who post here say "Spain is BETTER than France" - and that is true - they are. But I do think France is almost a perfect team to counter what Spain has to offer, and if the ball takes a few favorable bounces - could shock the tournament today.

Agree with the write up and play van
Can't believe a lot in here are saying France can't win, Spain has NEVER, I repeat NEVER beat Spain in the latter stages of a tourney. Off course this could happen given Spain's talent, but it just shows how Spain typically has trouble with Spain's style of play and counters. This combined with Spain's lesser form makes this a solid play I guess. I do think however it will be a draw as I foresee a tight 0-0 with the game going into OT. Also loving the under, doubting bout taking the juice or going for under 2, any tip on that Van?
