I absolutely agree and remember thinking how the call came a full second or 2 after when Van Persie was sending ball back to Robben for a clear 1 V 1. Slight push with extended arm, but not a good call. Been going back and forth on this game, but agree on the importance of Angel missing in this match-up. Mascherano has been unreal and hoping his play somehow takes a dip here with that crazy injury lol.
Only have a small future pending on Deutschland that I left open from betting Spurs first several weeks ago (Hope that U can see it from how I pasted it), but honestly have no strong lean to who is going to win this game. After watching 90 % of the games here leads just me to believe that the Germans pull through somehow though and hence only a slight lean by me. Winning the game 7-1 was as unlikely as me getting with AnnaSophia Robb, but can't be discounted to how sky high their confidence will be in the game I feel. Tina can frustrate any opponent, but rolling with Germany having more possession and continuing to pass well, especially in the last third of the pitch where they can dominate with their accurate passing. Best of luck Van and enjoyed many of your write ups..

GL, Vanz. I'm on Germany but not big. Messi still worries me, and frankly, I love watching the guy. I love greatness. I have a lot to say about that strange game yesterday (there were many angles that I missed). Dutch coach played possum, pretending the Dutch didn't really care about the game when they obviously did. In so doing, he took pressure off his team, while Brazil was under a lot of pressure to win that game. It was almost like a final for them except it would come with non of the accolades, but would only mitigate some of the shame from the semi. Brazil playing with pressure, shattered confidence and, worst of all, Scolari didn't give most of the guys responsible for the loss a chance to redeem themselves!?Instead, he went with a new lineup, basically asking guys who were not responsible for the loss to Germany to clean up the mess their teammates had left behind. He probably had his reasons, but I think that actually backfired as well. I also didn't factor in what an early goal would do to the psyche of the Brazilians. Shell shocked, they quickly allowed another goal, though both Dutch goals in the first half were controversial (foul outside the box and a missed offside call on the 2nd goal). I never thought the game would go over 3 because if Brazil got a lead, they'd try to win the game at all cost and not risk exposing themselves on D and if the Dutch got a lead Brazil would still play D in order to avoid being embarrassed the way they were in the semi. And the under should have hit (though we can argue about this all day). That's why I took a chance on the sides, though unfortunately I took the wrong side. In the final analysis, I don't think Brazil was that bad, (or that good) just very frail psychologically and not enough team chemistry. But this can happen to any team in athletics. Just look at what happened to the Heat after losing game 3 to the Spurs. Confidence begets confidence. Again, good luck, and thanks again for all the great write-ups!

Scal, all it took for you to say was that GER was a solid bet to win it all. Made a pretty little C-note on it. Ah, that was one hell of a ride. Thx buddy.

Great job Figgy. Letting it ride was the right move. And look at the reward: a lot for a little. Germany took you the whole way. No reason to jump ship at the finish line! And you didn't...
Bb, yes you are correct, Brazil was exactly like the Heat after Game 4 (or even game 3 for that matter), not a chance in hell after that GER beating...

Hey Scal,
Yes, that was a lesson learned (another one added to my list of many). Be careful betting on a team with a shattered psyche, especially when the opposing coach is a tactical and motivational mastermind. Feel bad for anyone who tailed that play. All in all, the WC was very good to me. Won twice as much as the NBA playoffs. Beginners luck, perhaps:) The people on this forum were, for the most part, civil and smart. And this thread was a lot of fun. Kudos to Vanz.
Lot's of changes in the NBA all of a sudden. It will be a very interesting year!

Lost a little bit of money - but overall a great month.
Only 2 years until the Euros in France.
GL all.
Thanks for all of the banter.
Well Van thanks so much, you are an integral part to my World Cups - starting 2010 South Afrtica. Your info has helped me make money - including this year. I liked Argentina yesterday but stayed off them because of things in your write up. This actually happenend a few times and I ended up saving money.
If you do have any pull with Klinsman or any other high up can we get the cup every 3 years instead of 4? I could live with that.
The pen is mightier than the pigs

Lots of changes is right!
But one very big change that had a small chance of happening, didn't.
Melo returning to the Knicks makes them immensely more cappable than if JR was their number one offensive option. That is a very good thing when it comes the time to write-up their plays.

Hey guys - glad to hear that my write-ups helped some in some way.
I don't post my EPL or world club picks. Just too much work and aggravation. Maybe I will get around to it one day.
I do bet world football - I average about 10 bets a week between the leagues and cup competitions. So I will pop in and be more active in the discussions.
