I believe the Switzerland game against France was a bit of an abberation and that this team will stay compact and make Argentina earn a goal. They have lots of speed on the counter attack and I think for the first 45 minutes they will attack carefully, only picking their moments. Argentina have already been exposed in terms of how to frustrate them defensively by both Bosnia and Iran. In that regard, Argentina have shown their patience with late game winners coming in both of those games. I expect a tight game until the end, and will take the goal with confidence.

I know it might seem like USA is getting bet hard around these boards, but in reality I believe the world is backing this talented Belgium team. Come the round of 16 though, talent will only take you so far. We have already seen Brazil and Germany brought to over time, and one could potentially argue that their is a significantly smaller gap between the sides in this game (maybe not than Chile/Brazil, but definitely than Algeria/Germany). I think the USA are just a team that is clicking and will find an ugly goal and defend well. Tim Howard is probably the best goalie I have seen in this tournament, and he seems to come up big time and time again. I think the USA will come out of regulation with at least a draw, what happens from there I can't say.

100% agree. Public is on Belgium. Line moves in other direction. Maybe a small hint of what we can expect. I agree with you about the factor teamspirit. USA played very well against Germany. And the gap to Belgium is even smaller. I think we see at least a draw + overtime. Maybe the USA even wins it in 90 minutes. 1-1 or 2-1

would love to see brazil knocked off but colombia has to play against the ref too? worried about that..
how will brazil respond from the chile game? there was a massive outpouring of emotion after the win...does the team hit a new plateau or do they come out with the same issues they've had since first game?

Not particularly worried about the ref, most of them are bad, and don't necessarily believe that it will be worse for Colombia then Brazil. Brazil could have used the ref badly last game but I saw no bias, even while Chile were looking like scoring a winner in extra time. I would even question which side is more of a fan favorite at this point, I feel like the Colombia team is a fantastic story, and a lovable side, which only begs the question, if Fifa were what you think they are, who would they favor here?
I would lean towards the idea that going to penalties and narrowly escaping is not in a teams benefit but I also can't say this with confidence. I think cruising to victory in 90 minutes is probably better in terms of rebounding and playing another game less than a week later, than playing a 2 hour game and then taking an emotional roller coaster ride for an additional half hour (and longer really).

I will without a doubt be cheering for Colombia we all know that Brazil should not be the team facing Colombia on Friday. I really hope that Cuadrado and James take care of business and get rid of the Brazilians.

I am having trouble finding a single edge in the games tomorrow. While I think Germany and France is a total toss up the value in the line appears to be with France, although it is not so substantial that I MUST make a play on it. I wouldn't be even a little surprised if Germany won, and I try to only make plays that I would be somewhat surprised if they lose
All of the soccer aside, every single tell tale sign to stay away from a bet is coming in on Colombia, and I'm just not sure I can make the wager. As much as it seems like if you are going to get a half a goal at + money at this juncture you have to play it, I'm going to be kicking myself double hard if it loses, and I will be ecstatic enough if they win. As of now looks like no play.
Here is what I am thinking...While I can't say for sure whether there will be goals in France/Germany, I do know there will be offense. Neither of these teams will have the respect for the other to sit back and try to defend, both will want to get forward and both will. Betting the over at this point is tough for me because it really comes down to finishing (every opportunity is amplified in importance and throws thing for a loop), goaltending (goalie's go crazy at this stage sometimes), and defending. I think this game will likely come down to set piece defending. Although I can't say about the goals, I think both teams will attack and create chances and set pieces, and I am looking at making a play on the OVER on corner kicks, which depending on the line i have at my books might have to be an in game play right off the opening whiste (for some reason thats when a reasonable line becomes available).
For Colombia/Brazil I am looking at the OVER in cards. I think both of these teams have the offensive talent and trickery to make players miss, and both have the lack of discipline to take a player out in a less than wise location. Neither team is shy to take their touches and neither team is defensively shy to leave their feet for a slide tackle. Both sides can look like sore losers if they are behind, and both sides can look like sore winners if they are ahead. So many times I think, well so and so is on a yellow they will be smart today, and then they come through with the most shocking challenge and will miss the next match. I feel like there are so many outs here, with what can happen in the last 5 minutes with either side ahead or behind that its worth a shot. I might also look at a small play on a penalty kick because I just can feel it coming in my gut, and for all of the reasons mentioned above, it increases the likelihood. I really hope the game isn't decided like this but I am fearing the worst in that department. Mario Yepes WILL go for a terrifyingly dangerous slide tackle in the box, and we can only hope he gets the ball.
So thats what I am looking at for now...
France/Germany Corners OVER
Colombia/Brazil Cards OVER
