Hey Lou any chance you could share your spread sheet ? I too am like rm2673 having to cut/paste each stat ....
Trying to figure out how to copy entire sheet from statfox and paste have it spreadsheet sum the columns pulling the data for the formula ....
Jsan,
I have tried different ways to post mine but no luck. What I do, to get the statfox sheet on my spreadsheet is to highlight and copy the game you want. Then, when you go to paste it on the spreadsheet, I have to "paste special" then I click HTML format and it comes out fine. Hope this helps.

Using the original roughshod formula with no averaging double negatives and positives and with the orginal sos factor I got:
Yards Yppt Points HFA Points Final
Rutgers 259.0 10.8 24.0 -1.75 22.2 21
Army 262.1 19.8 13.2 +1.75 15 14

hey lou, when I try to paste special, all the numbers still come out in one cell. I might be highlighting the wrong thing because I am just highlighting the entire row of numbers, for example, Rutger's offensive stats. How are you highlighting the game you want.

Hey rm, I highlight both teams stats, even though I'm not using certain stats, to get the ones you need, you have to.

I must be missing something on YDS ... I am getting 279 for Rutgers and 291 for Army ... ..
Jsan,
I got 260 yards for Rutgers and 261.1 for Army. These totals were before any SOS factor, which if you look at my previous post, wasn't much of a difference between these two teams.

Yea I must not be doing something right because when I highlight the team stats, all the numbers are jumbled into one cell even if I use paste special -->HTML.

Sorry I missed that , you absolutley need to do that!
So it should readFSU 15.5 + -.85 =14.65 x .94 = 13.77
NC 13.8 + -1.35 =12.45 x 1.06 = 13.19
FSU 365/13.77 =26.5 ACTUAL/438yds 30pts
NC 339/13.19 = 25.7 ACTUAL 333yards 27 pts
I"ll MAKE CHANGES ON THE ABOVE POST
Still think the original method is pretty damn good lets put it to the test tonight
(38.5) RUT 104+149=253/12.82=19.7
(+10) ARMY 203+90=293/13.68 = 21.41
ARMY wins outright? Line started at 40 Won with a teaser last night FSU +8.5 & OV 42. Liking Army + pts and the Under in another. Still like 10 pts at home too. Slow night tonight looking for a hockey play as well.

what someone should do is just upload their spreadsheet to a file sharing place like sendspace and then post a link in the forum so anyone can download it.

I dont understand the difficulty of pasting into excel. It is mind boggling. For those that cant perform a simple copy/paste...
1)Go to the Rutgers/Army extended matchup on statfox
2)Scroll down to the bottom of the page, the second to last chart is labeled "Team Statistics"
3)At the bottom right corner of the chart you will see the number "14.7", it is at the intersection of the row labeled "def home games" and the column "YPPT"
4)Place your cursor just to the right of the 14.7
5)Press and hold the left mouse button
6)Do not release the mouse button till your cursor is just to the left of the word "Rutgers"
7)Copy highlight text (Ctrl+C)
8)Open excel
9)Paste text (Ctrl V) (no paste special required)
10)Take computer proficiency class at local community college.

Ok I am looking at the NO Miami game and even though your numbers say one this what about Injuries? Miami has secondary QB up against Brees? How can your formula account for that? Did I miss some thing?

Hi Roughshod. I like your model, and I've played around with your numbers and formulas a little. Can you explain how you came up with your final calculations a little clearer? It appears to me that the SOS isn't properly accounted for since you can get the same score no matter what number you plug in there.
