Expert, Colorado was not even in the chase schedule as they were only playing 2 consecutive home games starting on January 8th and finishing with the win on the 10th. So, we'll have to take away one win from the record as this was clearly a mistake in the list of teams from SRTZEE's thread.
I like the idea of trying out the -1 line. Perhaps, this should be looked into for the first 2 games of the chase.
Gonna update the record soon ...
My BADD!!!! Guess you get what you pay for...lol Doing to much at once, but hey at least they won!!!

I understand the point you are making. However, the problem is that expert had no plays posted on Saturday so how do we know what the play was? He made a play on Anaheim the first game of the chase but that does not mean the play would have been Jersey on the second game. Or, it might have been. Who knows, thats the problem. LA is a good home team so the system says choose them unless there is a good enough reason not to.
This is why the chase with LA should not be ended until there is a definitive winner is this thread. I think most of us were on LA when they played Anaheim anyways .
You lost me.
If you bet L.A. the first game...you win and the chase ends.
If you bet against L.A. the first and second games of the homestand.....you win and the chase ends.
I assume you are chasing either a win or a loss so either way, the betting should be over.

Not really. The whole basis of the system was starting with the simple idea of chasing the home team victory when they were playing at least three consecutive home games. The problem was that the bad home teams are more likely to lose these three games so the variation brought up by expert was to fade these bottom 8 home teams.
That being said, it becomes rather difficult to decide what really is bottom 8 material at the time of beginning the chase so this brings up another challenge.
What it came down to was simply handicapping when it was less obvious which side made more sense. So, what happened was that there were good reasons to think that Anaheim could pull the upset against LA that other night and that's why expert chose to pick them but then it came back to simply choosing the decent home team the game after.
That's why LA was the pick the next day unless expert would have came here and gave better reasons to fade LA again. I just think it would not be fair to assume New Jersey would have been the pick when it was not posted in this thread.
If anything, we could perhaps delete this chase from the record entirely. Like I said, not trying to create a big controversy but it makes for a more transparent record when being honest about the picks. Hope this was clearer .

Not really. It sounds like the "system" has been trashed and games are just being individually handicapped without regard to whether the team meets the criteria or not and that's fine given the record so far. I'm just trying to get a handle on the thinking.
By the way, there are sites where you can use a filter to determine the CURRENT 8 worst home teams on a daily basis.

I think we should base the recod on the actual system itself (the way it was initially created in its brilliant form). If anyone wants to handicap away from that, then that is on them and they can do better or worse with that.
To fade a team in game 1 and lose and then play ON that team in game 2 (or vice versa) is definitely not a system play, that is just pure handicapping.
Just my opinion though. I do appreciate everything you all have done, but the confusion can be eliminated if we just stick to the system parameters.

Well, there you have it. That LA chase meant trouble from the very first game where LA almost let go a 3 goal lead.
I think that both of you are right KINGFANJEFF & Seahawks in saying
that this creates unnecessary confusion so I'll let expert decide what
to do with this chase. My personal opinion would be to drop it entirely
and not take credit for the win (in any case, I think most people
following were not on Anaheim for the first game and so the that chase
would have ended in game 1).

Ok now my handicapping skills cost us a win, some were on LA from the start, maybe all but me thats fine i will take the loss making the record 79-3 ,or I still could chase LA for 1 more game playing Detroit or take the loss? Several teams to chase including Vancouver and Dallas. Jan 13
TB SJ play the -0.5 regulation line, SJ wins this, TB playing b2b not to likely TB wins this
Phoenix Minnesota -143 Coyotes 0-6 in Minnesota
New Jersey Vancouver -131 Vancouver gets the win tonight New Jersey 1-5 last 6 trips to Vancouver
BOL tonight

Expert Im trying to understand this system... Is Columbus a play to night? Am I understanding correctly chase a team for 3 games, therefore Columbus has won last home game, play them again tonight and if they win play them again at home?

Negative. Only play a home team that has at least a 3 game homestand. There is a list at the top of this thread with the team names and dates of the start of the home series. Bet the team to win the first game. If they win, you are done chasing that team and you "won." They lose, you double up on the 2nd game, lose again, double up the second game, etc. etc. etc. Once they finally win, the chase is over.
Now there are several variations of this system, where you can choose to "fade" the home team based on the opponent. That's where things get more complicated and handicapping comes into play.
Just watch for the plays in this thread or chase the home team.

There you go. Nicely done. This should answer all questions as of now. Nice recap of the system and BOL to all tonight .

Got home from the Blue Jackets game tonight to watch the Canucks tease me. Wow that one hurt. I went way too big on them and paid the price. Lesson learnt!
At least I took the -1.5 line on San Jose (I feel safe with their 7-1 lead in the 3rd).

I may do the unthinkable and play a 4th game on the Canucks chase. Luongo comes back in goal tomorrow night (thank God) and Phoenix is coming to town. He may be rusty, but he's got to be better than LaBarbera and Sanford have been playing...I hope.

VANCOUVER!!!
Canucks are clearly a different team with Luongo playing. A division contender doesn't lose 3 in a row at home. They have played some very stiff competition but they will probably get the job done tomorrow night. Hope your bankrolls can absorb the 6 unit hit so far.
I'm playing the Penguins (-105) tonight. Both teams are coming off no rest and I'll take the home team. It's fun whenever Ovechkin and Crosby face off.
BOL guys

While I do agree with what you say about the game tomorrow night, I don't know if it means continuing the chase is the best idea. I know you can bring up the last time we had stopped chasing with nashville before watching them win 2 games after 3 losses but perhaps distributing the losses equally towards the remaining chases left to start would be a better strategy. GL with them, they've been playing some shaky hockey lately. Nice to see the other 3 games ending with a win.
