There have been plenty of successful systems on here in various sports but what has been the most succesful 1 season system that you have seen or used? I'm not talking someone betting crazy stuff like 100 units on Game X,Y or Z, just legit systems.
Also, what would you consider a successful system? Number of units won? ROI over a certain %?
Just curious on what others think about this subject before I reveal my system goals for baseball.

A successful system in my eyes is first and foremost measured in units won. But ROI shows how risky a system is and off course I would like a higher ROI so I don't have to risk a 100 units to win 1.

Dan I believe a good system is made of low risk/high return. (ie: your two team parlay strategy) It has to be sustainable and stress free, meaning when a loss happens we can just keep chugging along knowing recovery is just around the corner. Loss is inevitable it's how it's handled and recovered that is key. I don't believe in chasing big money favourites to win a pittance.
Handicapping to some degree must be utilized in the system, no 'BLIND' wagers!

If I'm not mistaken the MLB dog systems that Danrules graciously ran a couple years ago did well until end of May and would have made 40 units of only played until then. I think I may run it this year and I'll probably tail ya DR with your parlay system.

Hey Oil - yeah was too busy to post. For me I killed it in football this year but took last year off in MLB - but I will probably do the MLB underdog system and if danrules runs a non chase system I'll tail him
Glad to see all the familiar "faces" (screen names) - ;)

I've been following the icy road system for NHL as outlined in jenjays spreadsheet. Playing each game as it's own separate labby line as been extremely successful. Only a and b games so far in 2015. Seems legit, easy to follow, and eating juice is irregular. My NHL OT chase as outlined in a thread somewhere was extremely successful until William Hill completely took over my sports book and moved the 60 minute tie prices from $4.35 to $3.35. In my opinion it's best to play a diversity of systems, and adapt them to a labby line. By doing this you reduce the amount being wagered by not using martingale, but playing several strategies until the unit target is reached reduces overall risk, much like diversifying your investments on the stock market I guess. Let's look at my NHL season so far unit totals for the below were targets set that have been made. Top fav labby - 10 units Away fav (flat betting) - 15 units First rotation labby - 10 units(this cleared so quickly) OT chase - 50 units. (Sadly this will be no more)
Playing the icy road system in jenjays spreadsheet for fun til the end with no unit target in mind.
Wish I'd played dans 2 team parlay but bankroll was caught up with my other ventures listed above.
For baseball I'm looking at doing the magna carter as outline by bdnews but using the same filters as in the icy road system to determine a play for or against the home team. Play each game on a labby and call it quits at +20 units.
Also will be playing the first rotation dog with the +1.5 on a labby and the last rotation dog on a separate line with the aim of hitting 10 units for each. (Thanks to Jeff the hat for this - he straight chases but works on a labby very well) - should clear these targets by mid May I'd say.
Hopefully degen and danrules will have some solid posting going on in here again to follow.
Really looking forward to learning more from some of the posters in this forum, there's some great theories and strategies floating around at times.

I also would like to add that I have a rule to never bet more than 5 units (2.5% of my bankroll) on an individual play, which sometimes means adjusting labby lines and splitting them to suit

Degen, good to see you back on here. I won't be running the dog system this year, but I do use that spreadsheet to help pick dog winners on the 2 team parlay system.
If you have an updated sheet for 2015, it would really be appreciated. I believe Oilcountry helped me get that sheet correct last year.

I did not really keep track of it tbh. I managed to turn a 300 bankroll with 5 a unit in a 3000 bankroll, ending with 10-15 a unit.
Did not play all the plays of the shutout system but still made about 50 units.
After Jeff's GSE big loss he did make over 200 units back I believe.
If you think your goal of 500 is manageable count me in!
What systems you plan on running, and how long can the chase get? (A-F) (A-D)??
My 2 team parlay system is an 8 game progression with set betting amounts of 1x, 2x, 3x, 5x, 8x, 12x, 18x, 25x with x being your unit amount. Total at risk is 74 units. I will run 3-4 separate parlays at a time.

Hey Dan, really appreciate your hard work. Gonna send a friend request. Really interested in finding a successful MLB system. I'm still a rookie at capping but always willing to learn and share knowledge.

Great topic Dan, something I have wondered and asked myself as well. Obviously first off, the system has to profit. I use an acronym "ROIBR" which i am unsure even exists in the sports investing world. In my mind it stands for return on initial bank roll. For the systems i decide to play I commit a certain amount of my entire bankroll to that system, if things go sideways, its usually what i am willing to lose in that investment. For what i have considered the most successful are the ones which provided doubling my initial or 100% ROIBR in my world. I think my best was around 325% in 2012 with a diverse number of systems in MLB, most posted here. Many posted here have gone over 100% but what i also think is a key in success is minimizing the risk of your BR. To many that have been successful statistically always have the 2-3 times where the BR is sqealling and you could be in jeopardy of going bust, Thats of coarse if you don't have proper MM, but in alot of those cases splitting lines, protecting BR's don't truly show the profits of the record if played properly. The parlay systems over the last few seasons i certainly followed and played, with a very small initial BR to see how it played out. Not once can i remember being in jeopardy and each time it showed profit by years end.....I too may invest more and utilize those same concepts in some of my other plays.
DEGEN, great to see you posting, your spreadsheets are impeccable and would love to see if you have anything in store for MLB. If you want to share or check validity of a few i have updated, i have a version of RPI, MC1 & MC2 almost ready to go once info from the sites are present. I also have a few of my own icy systems that i have played around with over the last few years that i will share that historically has shown success. They are all modified versions of your work so you should be familiar :)

Jenjay are you planning on running a spreadsheet with the MLB systems you are going to do coming season? Curious to see which one's are profitable since I only started with systems last MLB season.

Ghost, absolutely.....I love the ability to create a sheet that tracks all plays, the ones I play as well as theoretical's that i don't play. I find them a useful tool to look back on, possibly make improvements or shelf them.
