Suggestions...
 
The Stats Engine treats PUSHES as "UNDERS". I think that needs to be fixed.
 
Yanks are 2-8-2 O/U on the road when line is (10.0). The programs says they are 2-10 O/U.
 
When you select "Over Under Line" field, If I want to check all games that were 10.0 O/U line, I have to select O10, P10, U10.
 
I think that's a waste of time. Just put the number, 10, and then when you generate report, if you want to check all the OVERS, UNDERS, PUSHES, just click on the Over Under Line field to sort the information (and you already have that in the report).

Although thinking better, I think is a good thing to have it that way.
 
I might just want to check all the OVERS in Yanks game when line was 10 on the road.
 
By having to select 10 only, I have to look in that report for that.
 
So, disregard my suggestion!.....
 
But I still think PUSHES are not "UNDERS"

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the suggestions. We'll look into
  • Making Run Lines available
  • Sum of results for Right handers and left handers
  • Pushes being treated as unders
  • Blank appearing for the RH/LH pitchers field for certain dates.

I would like recommending having a search for:

After playing team b the day before, team a is 1-3.

for example:

Boston playing the day after playing the yankees is 1-3.

We will investigate adding this option to the Stats Engine.

To confirm are you looking at what happens in a game of a series?

Boston vs. Yankees Game 1 (result in the first game of a series)
Boston vs. Yankees Game 2 (result in the second game of a series)
Boston vs. Yankees Game 3 (result in the third game of a series)
Boston vs. Yankees Game 4 (result in the fourth game of a series)

Boston is 10-1 in Game 1 of a series vs. the Yankees
Boston is 4-7 in Game 2 of a series vs. the Yankees
Boston is 2-9 in Game 3 of a series vs. the Yankees
Boston is 11-0 in Game 4 of a series vs. the Yankees.

Sorry i was kind of unclear in my post.

Boston is X-X in Game 1 of a series after playing the yankees in the previous series.

Like tonight when boston plays toronto. Boston is 1-3 in game 1 of a series after playing the yankees in the previous series.

but damn, boston is 11-0 in game 4 of a series vs the yankees?

definitely a "must provide." I imagine there's a lot of handicappers out there (including myself) who would save a lot of time inputting stuff.

However, I think you should provide much more info if you plan to charge for this:

For baseball, you need to provide info on an inning basis - so that pitchers can be compared versus the innings actually played, and so that teams' strength can be weighed on an inning basis. We need to know who pitched which inning. Sportsline has some interesting free stats available under "winning edge," but having this info readily available for multiple teams/scenarios would be very beneficial, because I just don't have the time to be clicking from one page to the next, one link to the next etc...

For NBA stats, each quarter needs to be reflected. Injured players for the evening would be useful too.

I'm buying if I like the level and amount of data provided.

Hi Autumn,

That is fantastic feedback. We plan on adding more pitching and inning by inning stats in the future.

We're looking at a quarter by quarter breakdown for football and basketball too.

Hey Infinitepicks,

The Dallas Cowboys did not appear in the list of teams because they did not play during the date range that appeared in Step 2.

If you change the date range to a longer period of time in Step 2, you will see that the Dallas Cowboys appear.

Hi, thanks for this - great idea and I will try using it.  However I did do one quick test and it returned an error.  I looked at first half points for and against for Baltimore Ravens, for the season so far.  I also did it for Buffalo.

It compiled them fine, but says the average scores are twice what they should be.   For instance -- for Buffalo it says they average 14 pts in the first half, but when you add the scores and divide by 8 games it should = 7.  Baltimore was also twice what it should be -- said 20.57 when it should be half that.  Same thing with first-half against -- should be half that.

Maybe it is trying to estimate the full game score?  But that's not what we look at first half stats for - we want to see how they do in one half only.

Along with the date range, could you set it up so that for NFL, we could select Week 1 - Week 4.  All the way through week 16.  The playoffs would be labeled (Wildcard - Week 17; Division - Week 18, Conference - Week 19, Superbowl - Week 20.  For baseball and the NBA, the extra date range would be Game 1 - 162 or 1-82 plus the playoffs.

Great stuff.  Couple of things I will suggest for MLB:
 
Team avg. and Player avg vs RH/LH, Road, Home
and Pitchers ERA vs RH/LH, Road, Home
Also Pitchers W/L and ERA records by month. Ex. Jeremy Bonderman is X-Y with an Era of z.zz in the month of August in entire his career.
 
This type of information is available on the internet but you really have to search for it.  I was able to find most of it but had to use several different sites when deciding on my picks.  I would suggest the engnine to be free and Covers can make their money off of advertising.

May I suggest having a drop down menu for starting pitchers and bullpen pitchers. Also, maybe avg innings per start would be helpful. In todays game, starting pitching goes 6 innings and change and then the specialist start coming in to pitch.

Is there a problem with the stat engine, every time I try to use one of the pull downs it cancels everything

Are going to have any stats for NBA total score that can be run?  Or any NBA scoring by quarters?  Or any NBA at all?

Wish I paid more attention in my Stats 101 class years ago. Would like to be able to incorporate another fig such as Sagarin ratings to compare teams playing against stronger divisions/opponents.
