I hope that as a group we are not scoreboard watching but making our notes reading our notes and learning new things every day. A pick without a reasoning is just gambling not handicapping, while by definition it is all gambling because a wager is being placed when you do your homework you improve your odds, I suck at NBA but have been getting a little better as I wait for September.

The hawks have played denver once this year and denver lost by 4 points in atl. atl gives up 95 points on the road. as well as atlanta shoots the 3 ball at almost 5% higher than denver. if you look at the last 5 games atl scores 105 while giving up 99, denver scores 112 while giving up 107. all of this to me adds up to a much closer than a 10 point game. i have a gut feeling on atlanta in this one as well. which is not always the right way to go but i feel confident in this game that atl covers.
charlotte is 2-7 in their last 9 while loosing in all of their losses by 13 points or more. most by 20 points+ portland is comming off of a good strong win and will like to end this home stand with another strong win. charlotte is on thier 4th consecutive road game but they have been on the road for 7 days now and i beleive they will fall apart yet again as they have proven to be the worst team in the league with the worst road record. portland should fly by charlotte in a blowout win.

I used to pay much attention to the lines that the WCLC puts out for western Canada. I kept track of all the lines and how each number did. There was 2 lines in particular that stood out like a sore thumb. -6.5 and 9.5 pt fav's. 80% of the time, these lines would go in the favor of the underdog, and many of these games the underdog outright won. Yes online today Mia is 9.5, however, at the wclc, they have the line set at 11.5 already ( and that line doesn't change during the day). However 2 games that do fall into this criteria today, would be Orl and Atl. Both these games they have pegged as 9.5 underdogs. It's nice when I looked at the games as Orl +8.5 and Atl +10.5 and beleived both these two teams would cover tonight, and then when I look at wclc just moments ago and seen the lines they have, I feel that much better about those 2 covering today :) It's not what I base my pick's around, but when I see those two numbers -9.5 and 6.5, my hair stands up on the back of my neck lol. So back to your statement of the Mia game, you watch through the day and by day's end that line will most likely be up around 11-11.5 I like it . as stated in my post regarding that game, I see a 18-24 pt win tonight for Mia. They play great this year 2nd game of b2b, and I can see them dismantling Minny.

Just curious because your only thought on the game is that Port plays bad teams badly, however this is one team that they have proved in recent years they can destroy. Are you seeing them bouncing back today after such losses and Port thinking they are walking into a runaway contest?

actually, i don't have any solid stats to back my play on Charlotte...what i put on my thread was just to back my play...all stats that are available would point to Portland as the right play...its just i have a gut feel (again) that fading the public consensus is the right play...i don't know how i would be able to explain these picks through tangible facts...sometimes its just my instinct telling me what to pick...
