Where do you get your public consensus from? I use covers and a couple other free sites but not sure if thats enough.
The biggest factor i use to cap the games are reverse line movement as u said.
For example on christmas, bulls went from -4 to -4.5 while it looked like everyone was on houston. And i also thought bulls defense should slow down the rockets pace, so i made it a play. 
Obviously this was a big loser, but what your thoughts?

Caution is always good. ROI is important and is a factor no matter which system you use. We just have agree to disagree. BOL to your plays.

Obviously ROI is a bullshit stat and not important at all. Same goes for winning % and other useless stuff.

Only thing that counts is profit and proper money management.

Say someone has a 5% ROI and picks ver cautios, makes big bets relative to the bankroll but only turns over 100.000 during an NBA season. He will make a profit of 5k.

Someone else doesn't care at all about the stupid ROI, turns over 10.000.000 with proper money management and only has a ROI of 1%. He makes a profit of 100k a season.

Notice the difference?

Yeah actually there is a difference, and if you didn't notice, i propose u go back to school for math classes 101.

Please don't post here like you know sh it about investment, if you prefer a ROI of 1 % instead of a ROI of 5 %, you are an idiot.

Marvin I think...

for Boston only hope is to play half court offence and do not turn ball over + limit LAC fastbrakes. BOS play good PNroll defence with Garnett as a big man and Rondo. Good couching but need size. Collins will star to defend Jordan and big linup slow the game down. Both team 2nd units play solid D and if someone can stap Jamal from scoring, than it will be slow pace game. LAC will try to ran and crash the bourds . Both teams not shoot 3s very often and LAC are the worst FT shooting team in NBA.

No. I am SportsMavin.
I don't use public consensus stats but the sites that publish actual betting reports from the books and LV hotels. I usually integrate the data in order to get the possibly nearest number to the truth and also use some info about money wagered (of course I take those numbers as any numbers I can't really verify with utmost caution and limited trust)
There can only be two kinds of RLM. One because of the big money thrown on opposite side of  the public favorite, and in other case, the books initiate "fake" RLM to make the public think there was money thrown on certain side - that is done wheb the books see that the public and the big money are both on the same side and in order to balance the bets - they use it to mislead late betters into betting on probable loser. That rarely really works and often backfires at the books and they usually avoid doing that. In that certain case - again IMO  as I am not a conspiracy theorist - you got burned.

You said it yourself - ROI is more important when your bankroll is limited. That's a point. And I never heard of anyone anywhere risking 10 Million to win 100K. That would be stupid. Trust me, if you had 10 Million, you would never risk it to make 100K. Too big of a risk. Same as you would not wager 100$ to win 1$.

First off i have read this whole thread and the first word that comes to mind is WOW.  I love all your insight on everything and a lot of what you have talked about makes sense and is very easy to understand.  Also i love the fact that you have the discipline to not bet on games when you don't feel comfortable on them.  I saw your 4-0 picks yesterday and I only wish i had started reading this thread a couple days ago though i did go 3-1 on the same games including the NO pick but not the Philly pick.  Its also nice to see the results you have had even in these first couple days on here.  I just happen to come across this while putting in on google sportsbets and trust me I am glad that I did.  Do you have any thoughts on the 2 NBA games tonight or the college bowl games??

I am relatively new to capping but i have always felt I had pretty good insight on games and I am very into knowing players and stats.  I also know that sometimes the stats mean nothing and that "right now" is the only time that matters. One question i had (besides the questions on the games tonight) was Do you tend to bet a lot on the same teams?  Like for instance SA SPURS at the beginning of the season was an easy win against spread but now have slowed down on that trend a bit.  Also betting on spreads feel somewhat more comfortable in football with a team like NEW ENGLAND.  I am wondering your insight into that??  I know it also depends on who they are playing/home or away/playing in a dome in football/ as examples....but I think you know what i mean with certain teams...Just wondering what you think??

I hope one day Covers will have those as well. Until they do - you'll have to find out by yourself which sites are those as I wouldn't want to step over the rules and regulations of Covers who gave me and all of us the stage to do what we do. I know some think otherwise - but I'd like to respect my hosts and therefore won't post here links compromising that respect.

Naturally, the mavericks plus the points as well as an Under at the Staples Center are the leans. Nowitzki's second game back from injury against expected strong effort by the Thunder after losing two in a row - is a sore receipt for a close game. As well Kapostss' mentioned - the Under is the most logical play for many reasons that he already listed and I tend to agree. But it is early as of yet for those games. As far a College Football goes - Under on the first game was my lean but I was a bit late on that to call it. Duke and Over in UCLA - Baylor game are my leans. But remember - before I call it final - those are only leans
