One of the toughest stretches of the popular Circa Survivor contest begins this afternoon.

Heading into the first of two separate “weeks” of NFL games, the choices are greatly limited for the 45 remaining competitors from a pool that began with 14,266 entries.

Circa Survivor’s Week 17 is made up of today’s Chiefs-Steelers and Ravens-Texans games and Thursday’s lone Seahawks-Bears matchup.

Twenty entries (44.4%) are going to relax on Christmas Day and sweat out Seattle. Eleven are relying on the Ravens, the biggest favorite at -5.5, to get them through to the second portion of Week 17.

Six entries went with the Bears on Thursday, while four will have to hope the Steelers can upset the Chiefs. Only one participant rode with the Texans in Wednesday’s late game.

Week 17 begins on Saturday for those who survive the next two days. Costing $1,000 per entry, the contest allows players to pick only one team each week to win. Once that team wins, it can no longer be used.

The Bears were available to the most participants at 29, followed by the Steelers (23) and the Seahawks (21). Eleven entries could’ve selected the Ravens, while only four had the Chiefs as an option.

Week 16 recap

Circa Survivor’s remaining field dwindled to under 50 entries in Week 16 after the five participants were eliminated. Four were on the Cardinals, who lost in overtime to the Panthers, costing Arizona a shot at the NFL playoffs. One entry was sent packing after the Buccaneers lost on Sunday night at Dallas.

The Green Bay Packers got the most entries (21) through Week 16, blowing out the Saints on Monday night. Other teams used included the Bengals, Falcons, and Bills.

What a ride

The contest began in Week 1 with a record number of entries. Early upsets across the league led to 98.5% of the field being eliminated through the first five weeks.

Slower weekly cuts followed as favorites began winning at an unprecedented pace in October. However, Week 12 dropped the remaining entries from 95 to 54 heading into the Thanksgiving split weeks.

More than 30 participants were on the Washington Commanders that week, but the Cowboys’ upset took out 37% of the field
