Blue Jays Picks, Predictions & Best Bets vs the Red Sox for April 29

The Blue Jays have been starved for offense of late, but Bo Bichette is hardly at fault. Look for him to pile up the total bases vs. Garrett Crochet and the Red Sox tonight, per our MLB betting picks.

The Toronto Blue Jays will be looking to bust out of their slump when they open a three-game set with the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday, April 29.

But it won’t be easy as the BoSox hand the ball to ace Garrett Crochet. That means Toronto’s best bats will need to step up, and my Blue Jays predictions and MLB picks highlight one of those bats in Bo Bichette with a player prop best bet that anchors a same-game parlay.

Blue Jays predictions for April 29

Today’s Blue Jays best bet: The Bo you know

Bo Bichette Over 1.5 total bases (+100 at BetVictor)

It’s been a rough stretch for the Toronto Blue Jays. They enter this series having lost seven of their last eight games, where the biggest problem has been scoring runs.

The Blue Jays are averaging 2.2 runs per game over their last 10 games, and have scored two runs or fewer in five of their last six games overall. So, on the surface, a matchup with Boston Red Sox ace Garrett Crochet doesn’t look promising.

That said, Crochet probably hasn’t been as good as his 1.95 ERA says he is. In fact, his expected ERA sits more than a run higher at 3.09. His stats have also been inflated with a couple of dominating performances against the Chicago White Sox.

Other than that he has some inconsistent starts against the Texas Rangers, Seattle Mariners, and of course, the Jays.

Crochet allowed four runs, although only one was earned, on five hits and four walks in that April 8 meeting against the Jays at Fenway Park. So, if the left-hander isn’t locked in, there will be opportunities for the Jays best hitters. I’m looking at Bo Bichette tonight.

The Blue Jays shortstop can’t be blamed for the team’s offensive woes. He comes into this game hitting .292 and is fifth in the American League in hits. He also ranks in the 98th percentile in expected batting average at .335 and the 84th percentile in expected slugging at .513.

Bichette is also hitting .316 against left-handed pitchers this season. And while it may be a small sample size, Bichette has a .987 xSLG in five career plate appearances vs. Crochet.

Give me Bo to go Over his total bases prop tonight at even money.

Today’s Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)

Bo Bichette Over 1.5 total bases

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 0.5 RBI

Garrett Crochet Under 6.5 strikeouts

If Bichette is getting on base, it means Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has a good chance to drive him in.

While Vladdy still isn’t going as deep as often as he would like, he’s also not the problem with this Jays lineup. In fact, he did go yard at Yankee Stadium on Friday night and drove in another run in Game 1 of Sunday’s doubleheader and is up to 12 RBIs on the season. Let’s add him to get lucky No. 13 to this same-game parlay.

And let’s round things out with Crochet to go Under 6.5 strikeouts.

Crochet has an above-average strikeout rate this season, but the bulk of those Ks came in the first three starts of the season against the Mariners and White Sox. He has struck out five batters or fewer in two of his last three starts, including that last matchup with the Jays.
