George Springer stayed hot, and Jose Berrios was dealing as the Toronto Blue Jays struck first in their series with the Boston Red Sox.

Things get a little trickier in Game 2 as they’ll dig in against newly minted Red Sox’s ace Garrett Crochet.

But Toronto has a southpaw secret weapon of its own in rookie Easton Lucas. My Blue Jays predictions break down how Lucas can be successful at Fenway Park on Tuesday night.

Blue Jays predictions for April 8

Today’s Blue Jays best bet: Target Lucas' Strikeouts

Easton Lucas Over 3.5 Strikeouts (-125 at BetVictor)

George Springer is ridiculously hot to start the season, tallying another four knock while Jose Berrios delivered seven strong innings, allowing just one run on four hits, leading the Toronto Blue Jays to a 6-2 win over the Boston Red Sox in Monday night’s opener.

They’ll need some more strong performances if they want to make it two in a row.

That’s in part because Boston Red Sox ace Garret Crochet will be on the mound. The left-hander has gotten his tenure in Boston off to a great start, allowing just two runs on nine hits while striking out 12 in 13 innings pitched over his first two starts.

But the Blue Jays are hoping to see their own southpaw spin it when they hand the ball to rookie Easton Lucas.

The 28-year-old rookie stepped in for the injured Max Scherzer the last time through the rotation and did an excellent job in shutting down the Washington Nationals. Lucas held the Nats to just one hit over five shutout innings while striking out three batter, and I like those strikeout numbers to increase tonight.

The Red Sox have a middling K-rate, ranking 15th getting punched-out 22.7% of the time. They also feature one of the more left-heavy lineups in the big leagues, which should play to Lucas’ advantage.

On top of all that, it’s expected to be another chilly night in Boston, which generally doesn’t mean great things for hitters.

Going toe-to-toe with Crochet won’t be easy, but I like Lucas’ odds to at the very least go Over his strikeouts prop which is sitting at 3.5 for tonight’s matchup against the Red Sox.

Today’s Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)

Easton Lucas Over 3.5 strikeouts

George Springer Over 1.5 total bases

Anthony Santander Over 0.5 RBIs

George Springer Over 1.5 total bases almost made my best bet today, but the matchup against Garret Crochet was just tough enough to keep me away.

That said, I will still have a personal play on it and it makes today’s Blue Jays same-game parlay.

You can’t ignore an early-season hot streak like this, even against a guy as good as Crochet. Springer is just so locked in.

With his four hits last night, he’s upped his average to .455 to go along with a 1.180 OPS. He has multiple hits in six of his last eight starts and two or more total bases seven times during that period. Springer Over 1.5 total bases until he cools off.

Someone who can heat up tonight is Anthony Santander. The Blue Jays big offseason acquisition is hitting just .200 with one RBI so far this season.

But this is a guy who 44 home runs and drove in 102 RBI last season and should get plenty of opportunities behind Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and will have the split edge tonight as a switch hitter against Crochet.

Santanders odds to get an RBI are giving us enough value to add it to tonight's SGP.
