The New York Yankees host the Milwaukee Brewers in the first game of Saturday’s slate at Yankee Stadium. MLB odds list New York as a -158 favorite after the Yanks won the series opener on Thursday.

My Brewers vs. Yankees prediction is targeting a side in this interleague matchup. Read on for my MLB picks for Saturday, March 29.

Brewers vs Yankees prediction

My Brewers vs Yankees best bet: Yankees -1.5 (+136 at FanDuel)

The New York Yankees beat the Milwaukee Brewers 4-2 on Opening Day, and history will likely repeat itself on Saturday, with left-hander Max Fried making his Yankees debut.

Fried has been one of the better pitchers in baseball, posting an ERA of 3.25 or lower in each of the past five seasons. In 2024, he ranked in the 81st percentile or higher in average exit velocity, barrel rate, and hard-hit rate.

That success should continue against Milwaukee, a team Fried is 3-0 against over the past four meetings with a 1.50 ERA. Meanwhile, the Brewers will counter with left-hander Nestor Cortes, who makes his first start against his former team.

Although there will be some extra motivation for Cortes, that doesn't offset the fact that he's struggled since his breakout 2022 season. In 43 appearances over the past two seasons, the southpaw has posted a 4.09 ERA.

The Yankees possess both the pitching and batting edge, which is enough to justify taking a shot on them to win by 2+ runs once more.

Brewers vs Yankees same-game parlay (SGP)

Yankees -1.5

Paul Goldschmidt Over 0.5 hits

Nestor Cortes Under 4.5 strikeouts

I expect Paul Goldschmidt to contribute to New York's offense this afternoon. He ranked in the top quarter of the league last season in expected slugging percentage, average exit velocity, and hard-hit rate.

Goldschmidt is also 1-for-4 in his career against Cortes with a double. Sticking with the theme of fading Cortes, he should also be a strong fade candidate in the strikeout market.

Last year, he ranked in the bottom half of the league in chase, whiff, and strikeout rates.
