Giants vs Phillies odds

This odds widget represents the best odds available for each betting market from regulated sportsbooks.

The Giants opened this game as +114 underdogs and it appears that number might have been a bit too high. Since then, San Francisco has moved down to +110 on quite a few sportsbooks, and there is only one place that you can find it at the same +114 number.

The total is really on the move, as it opened at 9 and has since gone up to 9.5 as of early Tuesday morning.

Giants vs Phillies betting preview

Starting pitchers

Jakob Junis (2-1, 2.76 ERA): Junis has been a rock-solid option for the Giants early in the season, as he has given up two or fewer earned runs in five of his six outings in 2022. The righty has pitched between five and six innings in all of his starts, so he’s not likely to work very deep. However, the Giants will be ecstatic if he can turn in another quality start in this spot.

Ranger Suarez (4-3, 4.74 ERA): Suarez has struggled in each of his last two starts, giving up a total of eight earned runs in his last 7 1-3 innings. Suarez’s control has been an issue recently, as he has walked six batters over his last two outings. The lefty does, however, have some impressive stuff, and it wouldn’t be surprising if he gets himself back on track soon.

Giants vs Phillies picks and predictions

Our side and total predictions are based upon our analysis of the line and total in this game. Our best bet is our favorite pick across all markets.

Moneyline analysis

The Giants are 40-15 in their last 55 games against teams with losing records, and 37-15 in their last 52 road games against the same sample. San Francisco rarely loses games it’s supposed to win, and the team also has no problems playing on the road. In fact, the Giants are 37-17 in their last 54 road games overall.

Now, they’ll look to win a second game in a row against a Phillies team that hasn’t lived up to expectations this season. Philadelphia also happens to be 1-6 in its last seven games against teams with winning records, so the trends are definitely against them here.

San Francisco also happens to be crushing lefties this year, with the team having some absurd advanced numbers against southpaws in 2022. The Giants have an on-base plus slugging of .766 against lefties this season, and they also have an isolated power of .196. Both of those numbers are good for Top 5 in baseball this season, which is interesting, considering that San Francisco has mostly been known for beating up on righties over the years. The Giants should now be able to beat up on Suarez, who has struggled to pitch at home this season.

The Giants should be able to score runs, which will take the pressure off Junis and allow him to just go out and deliver 4-5 quality innings. The righty has been really reliable all year long, so it’s not likely he’ll implode here. Junis also gets a crack at a Philadelphia lineup that hasn’t scored more than four runs in a home game since May 5.

Keep an eye on 35-year-old Darin Ruf in this game. The veteran is likely to be in the San Francisco lineup specifically because of how dangerous he can be against lefties — his .285 career average and .841 on-base plus slugging against southpaws mean he could be an unlikely contributor in this spot.

Prediction: Giants moneyline (+114 at FanDuel)

Over/Under analysis

The Giants and Phillies are both Top 10 in the league in runs scored this season, with San Francisco sitting Top 5. With that in mind, both of these offenses are fully capable of scoring a lot of runs — especially true in a game where neither team is throwing one of its better starters out there.

While Junis has had a good season for San Francisco thus far, it’d be surprising if Philadelphia didn’t get to him a bit. The Giants would easily sign up for a quality start from the righty in this game, as they will be confident that they can get to Suarez. Not only is the lefty struggling lately, but he is also just 1-2 with a 5.48 ERA in five starts at home this season. With that in mind, San Francisco should be able to carry Over bettors to a win in this one.

The Over is actually 7-0 in the last seven games that the Giants have played against NL East opponents, and 13-5 in the last 18 games San Francisco has played overall.

Prediction: Over 9 (-118 at TwinSpires

Best bet

If the total in this game is going to go Over, the Giants are likely going to score at least five runs in this game. San Francisco is the better offensive team in this matchup, and also happens to be a lot better against lefties than it has in the past. This lineup was once significantly better against righties, as the team possesses a lot of productive lefty bats. However, this year, the Giants are Top 5 in on-base plus slugging, isolated power and weighted runs created plus against lefties.

Considering San Francisco gets to face a struggling lefty, it’s a great matchup for them to put numbers on the board. The Giants have scored at least five runs in four of their last six games, and also in 23 of their 47 games this season overall. That means that hitting the Over on this total in a favorable scenario is very realistic.

Pick: Giants team total Over 4.5 (+104 at Unibet)
