However, the Giants will be ecstatic if he can turn in another quality start in this spot.
Ranger Suarez (4-3, 4.74 ERA): Suarez has struggled in each of his last two starts, giving up a total of eight earned runs in his last 7 1-3 innings. Suarez’s control has been an issue recently, as he has walked six batters over his last two outings. Now, they’ll look to win a second game in a row against a Phillies team that hasn’t lived up to expectations this season. Philadelphia also happens to be 1-6 in its last seven games against teams with winning records, so the trends are definitely against them here.
San Francisco also happens to be crushing lefties this year, with the team having some absurd advanced numbers against southpaws in 2022. The Giants have an on-base plus slugging of .766 against lefties this season, and they also have an isolated power of .196.
